Crown Point at Penn
WestfieldRocks replied to ASJCPUMA's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
If I read the schedules corerctly, Penn will be playing their third home tournament game and CP will have played their previous two tournament games at home. Since both Westfield and HSE will have only played one home game after this weekend, the winner of that game would stay home for the Semi State and the Penn/CP winner gets the long trip down here, correct? -

Same. I thought that only the NFL had the posts set closer together. -
Sectional Final Scores
WestfieldRocks replied to Komets2727's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Westfield 24 Noblesville 12 Noblesville took a 6-3 field goal battle late into the 3rd quarter, by using a bunch of clock with their ball control offense. When Westfield did have the ball, they had too many mistakes via costly penalties. Then late in the third, disaster stuck Noblesville. First, their punter drops the ball deep in their own end on 4th down. Westfield runs in an easy 8 yard "drive". Then on the kickoff, Noblesville again fumbles and Westfield recovers. Four plays later from the Noblesville nine yard line, it's 17-6 Westfield. Noblesville does put together a nice drive and scores, but misses the two point conversion 17-12 Westfield. The Rocks have a time consuming drive come up empty. However Noblesviile turns it over on their own 30 via a Westfield interception. This time Westfield takes almost all of the time off of the clock, scoring a TD on a fake field goal play. That made the final 24-12. Rocks have their first home game in a month as they play for the regional championship with another rematch, this time against HSE, whom they beat with last second TD at HSE during the regular season. -
CFP Indiana HS 6A Football style
WestfieldRocks replied to BLACKGOLD2007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
That's more like it :) Agreed. Chatard could compete in 4A, but 5A and especially 6A would probably be too much. -
Brownsburg/Ben Davis

70's? I was at Hinkle to see tiny Center Grove knock off mighty Richmond in the Semi-State. If memory serves me correctly, Richmond was ranked #1. A CG kid hit a shot at the buzzer to win. CG was then beaten by eventual state champ Connersville in the night title game. CG didn't seem to be a big school at all in the 70's. -

I wasn't going to use his name, but yea. And it was early 80's. -
Brownsburg/Ben Davis
WestfieldRocks replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Yea, I remember even in the late 80's, CG was still thought of as a "country school". I worked with a guy whose kid was a QB back then. The dad was not pleased with the coaching, so "transferred" him to Lawrence N. -
Brownsburg/Ben Davis

Assuming that they win another road game, this time at Noblesville, Westfield gets the winner of Fishers vs HSE. Since Westfield is in the bottom half of this sectional's bracket, that would give them a home game, regardless of who wins Fishers vs HSE, since Westfield would have already played two sectional road games. Westfield beat both during the regular season. Both of those teams will be tough outs. Westfield was all but beaten at HSE, but came up with a hook and lateral play that went for big yardage, and set up the winning TD with no time left on the clock. So it's going to be a battle, again, assuming they can get by Noblesville on Friday. -
Sectional Scores Week 2
WestfieldRocks replied to Komets2727's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I heard after I posted the above that the game is at Westfield. SInce both teams were visitors last night, I assumed that the team in the bottom of the bracket was the home team. That would be Noblesville. But you are right, it's just a bit longer than to Carmel, but 32 is still a mess around the hospital. -
Brownsburg/Ben Davis
WestfieldRocks replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
They should be. They outplayed BD for the majority of that game. That pick 6 was the turning point. Not sure why you throw it there when you've got one of the best running backs in the state. I was surprised Avon lost to Pike. They had played better as of late. FC losing was not a surprise, and someone had to lose between Z'Ville and Noblesville. HSE and Fishers basically had scrimmages. I wasn't surprised Westfield beat Carmel for the second year in a row. I was surprised at how easy it was. It was 37-7 early in the 4th when Gilbert called off the dogs and played reserves the rest of the way. If they had not fumbled on Carmel's 3 yd line on their opening drive, it would have been a running clock the entire second half. -
Sectional Scores Week 2

Carmel grandstands just prior to kickoff. And people talk about some of the other mega schools in the area! -
Brownsburg/Ben Davis

It looked on TV that Brownsburg had a larger turnout of fans than BD. I would have thought that BD would have packed their side. -
Sectional Scores Week 2

Westfield 37 Carmel 21 Rocks totall domination tonight, leading 28-0 at halftime. It would have been 35-0 and a running clock the entire second half if they had not fumbled at the Carmel 3 on their first possession. It was 37-7 until Carmel scored two touchdowns in the last half of the 4th quarter. Westfield travels again next week, this time to Noblesville -
Sectional Scores Week 2

Big time comeback. Trailing 25-7, BD scored with about 6 minutes to go. Then shortly after the kickoff, BD has a pick six to get right back in the game. Brownsburg appeared rattled the remainder of the game. BD scored the winning TD with about 2 minutes to go. Brownsburg did nothing on their last offensive possession. -
HCC/MIC Week #11
WestfieldRocks replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
When Westfield rolled over Carmel at Carmel in the opening game of this sectional last year, it was Westfield's first win since the mid 50's. Now you might say that they took a break from Carmel in football, because they did not play them often if any at all after that until they drew each other in a 5A sectional in 2010 before there was 6A. During that time, Carmel took off in size while Westfield was fairly stagnant until around a dozen years ago. The two schools did not compete in much of anything as far as athletics unless matched up in a tournament. They next played in the 2018 6A sectional, Carmel winning 28-7. Carmel would go on to be 6A runnerup to Warren Central. -
Temp's 6A Tournament Predictions
WestfieldRocks replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Ha! We use to say that when my son ran track and CC. We were always in the same invitationals, sectional, regional, and semi-state (now no longer), so we ran against them quite often. Back then we'd have maybe 15 boys and a few more than that on the girls team, Carmel would roll out almost 100 kids for a CC meet. Since only 7 run varsity, that left about 90 kids running the open JV race at every meet. I'd think it would have been frustrating to be able to run less than a 16 minute 5K and never make the varsity, whereas on our boy's team, those kids would have been the top runners. -
Temp's 6A Tournament Predictions

Almost happened to Brownsburg after blowing out most everyone their schedule for the first 7 games, including FW Dwenger on the road. They go to Noblesville (1-6 in the HCC) and almost lose. -
6A Sagarin Seeded Tournament
WestfieldRocks replied to Indiana Fan's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I looked at the "travel issue" for this weeks games. There are a few tonight just in 1A that have quite a bit of travel. Sheridan/Hagerstown - One and a half hour drive Next week: Either Monroe Central or Union City/Sheridan (assuming Sheridan wins) Either 1 hour and a half or an hour and 50 minutes. Indy Luthern/N. Central Farmersburg or S. Putnam - An hour and 50 minutes or an hour and 10 minutes Providence/E. Greene - One hour 10 minutes I didn't look at the other 5 classes, but one can see that even at the sectional level, not seeded, travel can be an issue. -
Temp's 3A Tournament Predictions

I would say that this is the easiest to predict the winner, except for the sectional that Chatard has to go through. -

Or maybe Lutheran is the easiest of the 6 classes to predict. (RE my comment on your 4A picks ) :) -

EC may be the easiest prediction of the 6 classes
