  1. Well if it’s on the internet….. I don’t know the man…guessing Clemson will be alright…
  2. And you know his heart how??
  3. You make great points.... I think some of this is that the media is looking for new teams and new stories....and I think a large chunk of the media isn't fond of Dabo.
  4. Now that’s original humor….well played sir!!
  5. What part of Roncalli in his profile do you not understand? No dog in this fight, I haven't read the first thing negative about the field from a CG fan. Guessing you know that. Its been brought to your attention repeatedly. I sense you like to stir things up.....talk is cheap.
  6. No disagreement...whether under center and blasting it up the middle into the teeth of the D with 9 defenders coming hard or in a shotgun and doing something similar, it plays into the strength of the D. Now, if its a game in which the O line has been dominating the D line, that's a different story. But it seems with the Colts, IU, etc, there seems to be guts to go for it on 4th down, but very little creativity when it comes down to the play itself
  7. What always has me scratching my head is rolling the dice on 4th and short....then running the most basic rushing play up the gut.
  8. Agreed...and sadly, injuries at a couple of key spots can change the direction of a season. Health and sometimes pure luck is always needed and appreciated. Regarding your last sentence...we agree in numbers only. But in quality of play, year in and year out, Cathedral does not seem like a 4A team...not by a long shot.
  9. Both teams are well represented in the Massey Ratings as well. Again, how much credence one gives to national rankings is certainly variable. But, we do see consistency in the various systems that have been shared. Again, I don't think its a bad thing to see Indiana schools appear on national rankings. It can't hurt and I would think overall improve national/regional thoughts about football in our state. Simply sharing..... https://masseyratings.com/hsf/ratings
  10. Uh...Technically Colorado Buffaloes from the Pac 12. But we all understood and hard to disagree. Going to be very tough for IU remainder of the season
  11. Perhaps a little more than just W-L records. I do think both CG and Cathedral are getting credit for the quality of teams played. https://www.nchsaa.org/sites/default/files/attachments/NCMaxPrepsRanking_FAQ.pdf https://www.ncsasports.org/articles-1/high-school-football-rankings USA Today Rankings Sept 14th (guess updated ranking is coming soon) https://usatodayhss.com/2021/high-school-football-rankings-national-super-25-usa-today-sports-week-3 I think we all realize that national ranking systems are nowhere close to perfect, include human bias, etc. But I think most Indiana high school football fans appreciate seeing teams from the state represented, and I believe the reputation for Indy metro football continues to increase nationwide. I would rather see Indiana high school football teams represented nationally than not. (just my opinion) Keep pushing forward CG and Cathedral!!!
  12. Perhaps your right....but the recognition here is overall consistent with USA Today and Max Preps.....
  13. Great comment about lining up over the center...sad part, it almost happened again later in the game. Thomas Allen prior to the snap and to physically push the DT in front of him over off the center...pretty much pushed the lineman down to prevent another penalty. Not sure if same person from the first penalty.
  14. Great points...I left out the special teams. That 99yd kickoff return was also a killer. That was an omission to my list. Sometimes it seems IU goes to a lot of effort to lose a ball game.......
  15. I was there Saturday...great atmosphere...first sell out against a non-conference team since 1987. It was a shame to not to capitalize on the crowd excitement. Keys I noticed: Micah McFadden going out on a questionable targeting call was a killer. No points for Cincy to that point...after that, no issues with scoring. Can one guy make that much difference on D? Not sure, but I do know Cincy smartly began running the ball up the middle and off tackle with success. They weren't prior. Very predictable offense....all game long run up the gut on 1st down. Cincy smartly would stack the box. The IU and Penix were put in 2nd and 3rd and long situations. Not Penix's strength. IU offensive scheme is trying to turn Penix into a pocket passer. Perhaps that is due to injury concerns. But let's be honest...he's not a drop back passer. He's a really good RPO guy. He seems lost in his reads. IU offensive does not make it easy for him...a lot of long passes. Have they forgotten a play called a screen? IU receivers, especially Fryfogle dropping very catchable passes. Some of them Saturday were back breakers. Fryfogle ran his mouth pre-season saying he's one of the best receivers in college ball. Shut up and let your play speak for itself...because right now it is. Thank goodness for the Matthews transfer from Florida State. 4 trips into the red zone...no points. Up 14-0 and stopped on 4th and 1....ran a predictable off tackle play. Take the chip shot and points...go up 3 scores 17-0. Fumble on the 3 yd line in the 4th quarter was inexcusable. I hear Penix is injured....its probably time for Tuttle...maybe even get Donovan some snaps...WKU game is the perfect time. This was a very winnable game....very winnable. And I agree...it gets way more difficult in the Big 10 East.
  16. CG #8 and Cathedral #16 in the High School Football America poll this week. Great news for these schools and for Indiana High School Football!! https://highschoolfootballamerica.com/hsfa-100-high-school-football-rankings-shuffle-again-after-three-top-25-teams-are-beaten/
  17. You may want to reread the original post…..unless I’ve mistaken the motive for your post….
  18. Shame about Tech....great venue. Will there be a webcast? Wonder what is the visitor seating capacity at Arlington?
  19. there used to be talk years ago about Toronto. But I am not sure about tax structures, and they have a CFL team. If I can remember correctly, didn't Buffalo play an occasional game there? I keep seeing Austin mentioned....given city size and UT, is that viable? Portland? I just kind of struggle seeing those cities as options. San Diego as an option? That sounds strange. https://www.thecoldwire.com/cities-bills-could-move-to-if-they-relocate/ At the end of the day. I just don't see the Bills moving. They will get their downtown stadium
  20. it is interesting, as I do see some strong individual talent. Pike and LC have some recruits picking up very nice legit offers....
  21. I'm not sure... interesting question. Although our school does award letters for varsity participation. I noticed DE laughed in response to your question. I will tell anyone...the girls that are truly competitive cheer are indeed athletes. Tumbling, stunts, dance, etc. They work their butts off, and it takes real strength, stamina, athleticism and courage. Vast majority of folks could not replicate what a competitive cheer team can do. Unfortunately, way too many injuries as well. I had my paradigms going in and they changed. So did my wife's who was a division 1 athlete back during her college days. https://cronkitenews.azpbs.org/2017/10/12/flipside-cheerleading-prevalence-catastrophic-injuries/ https://www.geisinger.org/health-and-wellness/wellness-articles/2018/02/19/15/58/jump-stunt-and-tumble-the-dangers-of-cheerleading
  22. that's great...and as it should be. I hope I didn't paint a picture for all coaches at our old school....my guess is that most coaches would work together and resolve.
  23. Some excellent points..... Our youngest child, a girl, graduated from a 6A school a couple of years ago. She was a cheerleader and ran track. Cheer was an eye opener for us...how competitive it was, injuries, etc. It would start in the summer with camps, and would last through fall and winter if she cheered both football and basketball. Long season....at least we thought. Track season would start....and then the cheer coach would be at it again...tryouts near spring break for fall and practice starting immediately to be ready for the summer camp competitions. The coach would show no mercy to the girls running track or in other spring sports, and the coaches would not work together. Put our daughter and some other girls right in the middle. Track practice for a couple of hours after school, to be immediately followed by another couple hours of cheer practice. My wife and I were ticked. We went to the athletic administration for help when it became obvious coaches would not work together and compromise. No way were we subjecting our daughter to 4 hours + of practice per night, then to only start homework late. (she was an excellent student) So we put the hammer down....no cheer practice. Put her in a bad spot with her coach and she took it out on her by playing head games during the summer seasons. We coached her to simply deal with the games. She was an excellent cheerleader and we knew by fall she would be back in her spot and she was. We learned that cheer was pretty much year round....or at least 9 months if a child only cheered the fall or winter seasons. Way, way too long. It was ridiculous....coaches not working together....only wanting their needs fulfilled...obviously not concerned for the well-being of the student athlete. That cheer coach is no longer on the staff, but left a really bad taste in our mouths. Glad those days are behind in the rear view mirror.
  24. 97th time to play...wow! That....is a series and a rivalry. Has there ever been a trophy to play for in this game?? Something for the winner to hold on for a year until next season's game?
