  1. Until Ryan Day can do this.....he will never be a top 10 coach...... Wonder why Kelly never broke this out during his ND days....who knew of this talent?
  2. definitely not the first.....ask Aaron Rodgers https://clutchpoints.com/patriots-news-aaron-rodgers-says-patriots-qb-tom-brady-is-a-unicorn-for-playing-at-age-41/ https://nesn.com/2018/10/aaron-rodgers-has-immense-respect-for-tom-brady-hes-a-unicorn/
  3. Looks like he didn't run it because of temps....although I would have thought the indoor facility would have been heated.... https://www.si.com/college/purdue/football/wide-receiver-david-bell-showcases-skills-at-purdue-football-pro-day#:~:text=Bell%2C who posted a time,in the 40-degree weather. I was reading that his 4.65 40 time put him below the 5th percentile for all WR's. He's ranked 1578 of out 2613 WR's from 1987 - 2022. Scored around a 4 out of 10 for his Relative Athletic Score. (original was <3) https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/lists/cowboys-2022-nfl-draft-profile-david-bell/ https://steelersdepot.com/2022/04/2022-draft-wide-receiver-prospects-relative-athletic-scores-ras/ https://www.profootballnetwork.com/david-bell-demarvin-leal-hurt-their-nfl-draft-stock-following-the-2022-nfl-combine/
  4. No confusion here....and my comments to you supported comments made in the past about a fit for the Colts. Simply clarifying my previous comments and I stand behind them. I hope and believe Bell will succeed....but there are questions. Not sure why you continue mislabeling my identify....now that's confusion.
  5. Because QB's and WR's are the same???? They need the same attributes? I didn't question if Bell would be successful. I questioned if the Colts need 2 of the same type of possession receivers, with Pittman already on the roster. If Campbell can stay healthy and with his speed, keep the field spread, it will make a possession receiver even better, and open up lanes for the TE's, and make life easier for Taylor when he cracks the 2nd layer. But if the safeties have no fear of speed...they will come up and shrink the field. That was my point about speed at the WR position. The NFL is not Big 10 football. Bell ran a 4.65 40 in the combine...that is an eye opener for ANY WR. Hopefully it was a bad day, and perhaps that will allow him to slip down to the Colts in the 2nd round. Doesn't mean he won't be successful in the NFL. Simply about diversity needed at the WR position.
  6. Wonder when Texas A&M admin is going to hold Jumbo Fisher accountable to deliver? Texas? Guess we shall see. They need to find a D that can actually stop somebody.....anybody. Brian Kelly, with his new accent and grind dancing didn't get LSU into the top 10???
  7. I'll meet anyone at the Dollar as long as we go inside, enjoy a breaded tenderloin and wash it down with a couple of malted beverages. Getting too old for this alley stuff. At my age, have become more of a lover than "wrastler".......well, don't verify that with my wife....she would probably only buy into the "too old" stuff. Takes a little more effort to convince her to "wrastle".......ok, a lot more effort.....😉
  8. Dang it Irish....must have been cutting some onions during my lunchtime at work. Seriously, thank you for sharing...... We need an emoji for "wow" or "are you kidding me?"
  9. Actually, I really didn't have any feelings about the source listed....just simply pointing out that the sad news was everywhere. A young man with a beautiful wife and guessing a wonderful family tragically lost his life....with his whole life ahead of him. I think we as father's on this forum can feel the sadness in a young person's life that is suddenly lost. I need to do a better job personally empathizing with all young lives lost when I read it in the paper or hear the story on the news. All of us love football, especially high school football on this forum. I just hope all of us remember what is important, and that we have much more in common than we do different. And so what if we see the world differently....makes it far less boring. Please call me out when I forget this......
  10. I am the observer that hopes OSU and Michigan beat each other senseless to a 0-0 tie. When both teams play, its a Joe Dirt mullet convention.....
  11. I do have to wonder....has Michigan scheduled FCS games since their loss to App State back in the day? (before App State became FBS) I am glad that FBS teams do schedule some games against FCS opponents...it gives the FCS kids an experience playing at the "big time" while also giving them some additional exposure. NFL rosters have quite a few players from FCS schools. To be honest, I am not sure the benefit for a FBS school to do this, other than to perhaps rest some players and get some non-regulars playing time. They write a nice check to the FCS school, may get less fans in the stands for the game, and if they are upset or played closely, its a big negative for them.
  12. My wife says the "boys" are just fine. she keeps them in her purse. I haven't seen them in awhile....
  13. hardly the first FCS school to play a FBS school. SEC schedules them every year near end of the season. Didn't Samford embarrass Florida last year by dropping 50+ on them? Indiana State plays a FBS team every year...they play at Purdue in 2022. Great experience for the kids and the programs need the $$.
  14. I believe it was Frank Beamer when he was head coach at Murray State (FCS) once quoted....."Alabama needs a victory and we need a new weight room." What an experience for Tenn State to play in ND stadium.
  15. Have seen the announcements from a variety of sources on Twitter. 24 years old....tragic.
  16. It was simply adding on to the impact of NIL isn't limited to high school....you stopped short with your comparison. I simply stated that the comparison doesn't end in high school. That is why I don't see an apple to apple comparison. Just sharing an opinion on a forum. Nothing negative intended.
  17. I understand...but i am extending the benefit over college, because that are being paid NIL, not for their high school accomplishments, but more about their potential at the next level
  18. talking about when they get to college...not the expense for high school
  19. that wasn't my point....probably wasn't good with explaining myself I didn't align 100% with your example, as there is a vast difference with a student (athlete) earning big bucks from NIL, vs the average student working in the library, cafe, etc. The student athlete (such as football, bball, etc) starts with a full scholarship already covering tuition and boar, so the big NIL bucks is disposable income. The avg student isn't afforded a scholarship, so any money they make working extra hours during the day is far less disposable. I don't disagree that people should be thinking about the future cost of an education....and probably high school is too late. I am not at odds necessarily with the NIL....just don't see it the same for an athlete vs non-athlete, assuming the athlete is getting some or all of their education paid for by scholarship
  20. Except that the majority of the non-athletes don't already have a full or partial ride for their college tuition and living expenses. While there may be some similarities in your comparison....I don't see quite see it as apple to apple. Additionally, most athletes and especially those outside the D1 bigger programs won't experience this benefit.
  21. Yep....not a fan of his leadership. But in this case I do agree that variability in this case presents challenges toward a fair playing field. Comments last year from Gonzaga's Mark Few https://theathletic.com/news/gonzagas-mark-few-says-varying-nil-laws-disastrous-lead-to-unfair-advantages/jZpV9x2IAHf0/ University of Illinois professor weighs in...... https://sports.yahoo.com/system-balance-time-revisit-college-135007831.html
  22. While I am not much of a fan of Emmert, I do agree in this case consistency is needed, given the variability of state laws. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/33641798/mark-emmert-says-ncaa-congress-work-together-move-nationwide-nil-uniformity
