  1. Yep, the re-alignment really created a mess in 3A. I agree with you about WL and BC. That will be a great match-up and I would put my money on the winner of that one to take the 3A title.
  2. Lincoln's losses to Boonville and Mt. Vernon were surprising, especially after Jasper beat Boonville so bad. I have no idea what to expect in this game.
  3. Folks down in this part of the state will be very interested in the result of the Chatard v. Southport game. I expect Chatard will win by several TDs.
  4. I think this is just an unfounded rumor because if we have, our coach wasn't aware of it when I talked to him after seeing these posts on my way back from the Colts game in Nashville yesterday afternoon. We do have a random screening policy that all students are subject to as a condition of enrollment and the first random tests of the 2019-2020 school year were Friday. As background, my sophomore son was selected last year in the spring and the email we received notifying us that our son was randomly selected also said it would take 2 weeks before we were notified of the results. My recollection is that it didn't take that long, but it was a week or so before we learned the results were negative. I believe Mater Dei has the same policy. I'm curious though, do any other SIAC schools have a similar random screening policy?
  5. He is also playing DL in spots too. Funny thing, when he played for me in 7th grade, he wanted to be a QB, just like every OL/DLman. LOL
  6. Yep, GS definitely got rid of some annual blowouts. For the most I have been against the SIAC adding 2 more schools and playing 2 divisions, but to have some football scheduling flexibility it might nice. The downside (and I'm not saying this will happen to GS), is that it does get challenging finding non-conf opponents at times.
  7. No question GS has turned the realignment into a big positive. I'm jealous.
  8. You must not have watched Austin Jones.. He doesn't get the attention Combs gets, but he has dominated in the first 2 games on both sides of the ball.
  9. Great schedule. Kudos to GS. It will be interesting to see if the other PAC powers (HH & BV) take the same opportunity to beef up the schedules. GS sure has.
  10. If I was betting, I'd say the representative from 3A South will be (1) GS,; (2) HH; or (3) Brownstown Central. We'll find out how GS might stack up to BC after Wk. 5. GS plays Southport Wk. 4 and BC plays them the next week. GS hasn't faced anyone so far. We love playing at Enlow Stadium. It's awfully nice having a roof on those nights when it rains....
  11. I believe the transfer from TH is set to start. I think he has been out the last 2 weeks. The Bears also get Schutte back after a 2 week hiatus.
  12. Yep, I would agree with you, Trojan88. Chatard's D did a heckuva job. I still wonder what might have happened if Chatard had scored a TD to go up 10-0 instead of having the INT on the goal line. That game could have been a barn-burner down to the wire.
  13. As you said, its way, way early. I don't know any 2-0 team down in this area who can say with a straight face they've been tested with 2 solid opponents yet.
  14. Why would it? [edit] Oh, I see. Both are open Wk. 7. I wonder if either school knows??
  15. Hill Top. It is even better now with the new ownership by the Marx family.
  16. Coach Jennings is at Whiting, who is MD's opponent....
  17. There is also room to tailgate at Reitz Bowl. We always set up in the tiered lots above the end zone closer to the Ohio River. I was at the MD game last Saturday and there was a lot of open space in those lots.
  18. Have a safe drive and good luck. The Bowl is a cool place to play.
  19. Well, in our game Friday night, when the score was 35-0 at the half and our opponent had 3 turn-overs, 1 first down (on the first play of the game), and less than 60 yards of total offense, they didn't look too demoralized when their varsity scored 3 TDs in the 4th Q against our back up JV kids, which is essentially freshman and sophomores. In fact, their coach burned time-outs to stop the clock and they celebrated wildly when they scored each TD. While I disagree entirely with that approach, they certainly were trying to build some confidence going into Wk. 2.
  20. Very good question. Last year their returning starting QB decided to play golf instead of football, which seems somewhat odd. That's the only notable case I can remember.
  21. I expect you guys to win the last installment. Jasper is down somewhat this year.
  22. My understanding is 1-2 players were not allowed to participate. So the Bears were not at full strength.
  23. I don’t mind it, but I think the team being shown mercy needs to lose its time outs so they can’t stop the clock.
