  1. That is the way I read it. And here's another question... Memorial was bumped up to 4A for the 2019 & 2020 cycle. They won 4A state in 2019 (4 pts) but lost in sectional in 2020 (0 pts.), so they stay in 4A for the next cycle. Is that cycle 2020-2021? Is that why this new provision was included in Rule 2.5 (SF) of the IHSAA By-Laws this year...? In Team Sports, when Schools are subject to reclassification, a School’s reclassification shall be dependent on the School’s previous tournament series success; the Commissioner may, however, determine that a School’s previous tournament series success should be applied more often, or less often.
  2. Same here. The thing I hate the most about being Success Factored into 4A is that our Sectional is pretty much just SIAC V.2, with the potential added bonus of a 2.5 hr. road trip to Brazil to play Northview. I always loved the change of scenery the post-season brought in 3A.
  3. I agree. It is easier. But I sure as heck would NOT want the job of being a HS AD. Schools where the football coach is also the AD probably have some advantage with this.
  4. I would love to have 1 non-conference game. Not saying I want VL to be dropped from the SIAC, just that I'd like 1 spot to do something different.
  5. It's pretty crazy to see it illustrated in this way.
  6. Not sure if I've ever seen a Brebeuf person on the GID. I think there will be some eyes on this game down in this part of the state, especially in Gibson County...
  7. Great idea. Boosters only. State Law!!
  8. The worst teams would always draw into #1 (unless its a bye Sectional) and #2. At least now the teams who are consistently at the bottom have a chance to draw another struggling program and get a W. IMO the only way to do it is have the coaches in the Sectional do the seeding. I trust the coaches. No question seeding gives the best chance for quality championship games and the best chance for schools to maximize Sectional gate, which is the only level where all teams get a cut.
  9. I don't disagree with the concept of seeding, but the AP poll is always somewhat questionable and Sagarin / SOS is really no longer as reliable as it once was bc 2 of the top conferences in the state (SAC and SIAC) are closed, which screws the numbers up significantly. Here are the Sagarin numbers for Sectional 24... SECTIONAL 24 SECT. You think Boonville is 5 TDs better than Jasper or Memorial? I'd pick Reitz, Central and Harrison to beat Boonville this year. And actually, Sectional 40 is even better because Mater Dei is the only SIAC school... SECTIONAL 40 SECT. If given the choice to play MD as the #8 seed or take its chances with ping pong balls, wouldn't #1 seed Linton gladly take the ping pong balls?
  10. I haven't looked at all the PAC schedules, but isn't GS the only one who has scheduled multiple teams from outside of the PAC? I know SR and Boonville played Linton, but other that aren't most schools just filling their non-conf slots with schools from the other division?
  11. I don't know, our girls soccer team is pretty solid most years...
  12. I'd prefer to get Jasper in Rd. 1.
  13. Evansville Christian is not hurting Memorial. SIG has hurt Memorial far more. We saw enrollments in feeder schools dropping years ago, which is the lifeblood of any parochial school. Now the numbers should start trending up. The non-Catholic tuition being so high is one factor.
  14. It's the only game left that should be competitive. It's unlikely the North and Lincoln games will be very close.
  15. So you will take Reitz +17.5?
  16. Personally, I think MV is overrated. Barely beat a zero win Boonville and barely beat HH despite HH having 5 turnovers. GS feeds them a running clock in 18 minutes. I think HH is a better team than MV and BV.
  17. LOL. I agree, although SIG would have a great mascot... The Fighting SIGarettes.... And yes, the Jasper Catholic school has proven to be an utter failure.
  18. I'll take... Harrison over Central 27-23 (second-best game of the week) Memorial over Reitz 47-7 (Tigers continue rolling through the soft part of their schedule) Mater Dei over Bosse 28-18 (Bulldogs have a couple dawgs that could give Wildcats some trouble) North over Lincoln 31-10 (Huskies should have no problem) Castle over Jasper 24-23... Although it will make me throw up in my mouth, I'll go ahead and say it.... GO CASTLE!!
  19. As for the topic... I have not seen either GS or Brebeuf, but it sounds like it would be a great match-up.
  20. I say the chances of this happening in the next 50 years is less than 1/10 of 1%. Memorial and Mater Dei are supported by a fairly large number of feeder school parishes and a few non-school parishes that all pay an assessment (tax) each year to help keep tuition as low as possible for Catholic families. And even with that, tuition has increased significantly in recent years (by almost 100% over the past 8 years). There just aren't enough parishes in northern Vanderburgh County or southern Gibson County to support a third HS. I suspect if the diocese even announced they were considering building a third HS, there would be a lot of push-back. Parishes already complain about the current assessment, much less if they had to pay more to support a third school. You also have to remember that unlike the Vatican, no diocese is sitting on a pot of gold (at least not the Evansville diocese). It would take a significant amount of capital to build a new school, which could only come from private donations. The Bishop would get an ear-full from the high-level Memorial and MD donors.
  21. MV has improved, but not enough to make this a competitive contest. GS rolls 48-6.
  22. ND lost to Tecumseh. Linton rolls in a homecoming party..
  23. All from private donors, just like everything else that is athletics-related...
