Offseason Topics of Discussion

Its this....or even during games. But again....more worried about eye black and shirts tucked in, than something that is actually being used to gain an advantage. -
Offseason Topics of Discussion

If 1A were to become smallest 32 (as it should), you need to preclude any p/p from being in that class. *Cue some small school p/p defenders that are afraid they won't be able to yo-yo down into 1A and grab a pair of blue rings every two years. -
Outside of Fishers/HSE that have already split…I am not familiar with a single HCC school having serious admin discussions about splitting. The cost to fund “equal” admin and extra curriculum programs is WAY up into 7 figures per year. This is often the reason cited for no split. It is by far more economical to have one really big high school than multiple “pretty big” high schools. And as long as you have a nearby peer of 5000+ …there is even less desire. full disclosure: I am on record as saying the sweet spot for high school size is probably around 2000-2500 kids. This is mainly for academic and quality of life issues. But economically in the current school funding climate….its just not gonna happen.

I'm just saying....its no where near as bad as it used to be.
-
Its actually more homogeneous than it used to be....20 years ago it was a handful of MIC schools that were at that far top end. Now there are several MIC, HCC, Far north schools all well above 3k and some at or north of 4k. Carmel at 5000+ is the real outlier.

Success Factor Points Update (2025 Season)

If we ever make 1A the bottom 32.....this reinforces my opinion that it should exclude P/P. -
Success Factor Points Update (2025 Season)

I've said this many times...1A should be bottom 32, 6A Top 32. Divide the rest evenly. My post above was just about success factor. I wouldn't be opposed to a rolling 3 year cycle instead of 2 -

There is ALWAYS a bad end of the bell curve. The ONLY people that should make decisions based on that end is OSHA... -
Success Factor Points Update (2025 Season)

The best version of Success Factor: Cannot be bumped unless you've won on Thanksgiving weekend (seems obvious....but IHSAA gonna IHSAA) Rolling 2 year cycles (has been added) 2 points to "Stay" (we used to have that...winning your sectional each year isn't good enough to stay up?) No P/P in 1A (😇...hate me if you want. It's the right call) -

Fishers has NO chance???? ETA: Just saw your correction. I feel like this will be another close game. -
Being "on the LOS" is still based on creasing the C's waist......correct? Or something along those lines? Honestly asking.

6A Tournament: OFFICIAL Thread

Couldn’t this describe Penn in the 80’s and 90’s? Penn was the desirable “suburb” of South Bend….became way larger by enrollment than anyone else in the area. Add to that an all time great coach. Huge successes Penn should always celebrate. Calling Indy suburbs Johnny come lately is myopic. -

Temp’s Top 25 (After Week 8)
US31 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
No disagreement with either of you from a Penn Football perspective. My post was more centered around something that might actually have a chance of happening that would benefit both the NIC & NLC. I think the chances of the NIC becoming a "somewhat better" and "smaller" conference (to allow more non-con games) would actually have a realistic chance of happening. -
Temp’s Top 25 (After Week 8)
US31 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I've posted often about NIC/NLC/Etc conferences up north.....way past time to adjust. Looking at just current NIC/NLC, I think this would be a significant improvement: NIC (7 teams - 2 6A, 4 5A, 1 4A): Penn, Elkhart, Adams, Concord, Goshen, Warsaw, Washington. Plenty of opportunities to play out of conference schools for Penn. Gives them Concord & Warsaw annually, so pick up a DAC, SAC, and an Indy/Out of state team. Goshen will be in the same position they are in the NLC. NLC (9 teams ....*or 8 teams - all 4A except Marian): Marian, Mishawaka, New Prarie, NorthRidge, NorthWood, Plymouth, Riley, StJoe, Wawasee. This would be a sluggfest of a 4A conference. If it goes to eight teams, could still schedule multiiple rivalry games agaisnt former NLC'ers in the newer NIC. *Now the rumor for a while is that one of those NLC teams wants out...but NE8 nor NECC aren't willing to take them (don't ask me how accurate that is). If it happened it would bring the NLC back to 8 teams. -
How would you rank the top conferences currently?

NIC would be great if you put it on the second list😇 -
Temp’s Top 25 (After Week 7)
US31 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
From an outsiders perspective, I feel like Penn has two issues now that they didn't have in the early 2000's and before... They no longer have a significant enrollment advantage over most of the other Indy metro schools. Sure they are a top 10 sized school.....but most of the Indy metro schools are within a few hundred kids give or take. And a few have outgrown Penn. The "local" competition up North isn't what it used to be....and it wasn't always great back then. (and the changes to their schedule this year are puzzling...no out of state powers like they used to schedule, no Indy schools?) This is my outsider perspective, so the Penn faithul are welcome to call me out...I would fully defer. Gees was an alltime great, but I don't feel like Yeoman and the rest of that staff just forgot how football worked? -
I'd rather see schools be forced to split once they become a certain size🤷♂️

The same size issues at the top of 6A are at the bottom of 1A. I'm a fan of making the top and bottom classes the same size and then dividing everything else up evenly. .....and no p/p in 1A😁
