  1. Here's what we should do. We should divide the number of schools into 16 classes in 6A and award 16 different trophies. BD/Carmel would play a single playoff game. Winner gets a trophy and so on.
  2. I'm just a dumb radio guy who meddles with history. Jim Pich is the man.
  3. 2005-Decatur 2006-Won Sectional 2007-Pike 2008-Won Sectional 2009-Avon 2010-Pike 2011-Won Sectional 2012-Pike 2013-Pike 2014-Won Sectional 2015-Avon 2016-Won Sectional 2017-Won Sectional 2018-Warren 2019-Won Sectional
  4. People define decades differently, but Ben Davis Football finished the 2010-2019 period at 84-35 with 3 MIC, 5 Sectional, 4 Regional, 2 Semi-State, and 2 State Championships. Historically, this decade trails the 90's (115) and the 00's (97) in wins. It's third as well in winning percentage behind the 90's (.885) and the 00's (.752). Since 1980, the Giants are 352-124 (.739). Program wise, the Giants are 499-367-12 (.576). Next win will put BD at 500. Thank you to Jim Pich for helping me get to these numbers. By the way, this win total includes a 1997 forfeit win over North Central (that John Harrell doesn't recognize).
  5. Transportation has been a growing issue over the last few years. When I was 16, I couldn't wait to get out on the road. That's not the case anymore.
  6. I was in college at that time, but it was a long drive I'm sure.
  7. BD still had its chances. Ultimately CG made the plays and won. Not a knock on Trent. He had a great year...as did the Giants. Proud of them. It was an emotional end to the year.
  8. I literally interviewed Bob Britt who made some of the initial calls. BD and the other independents were having trouble filling football schedules. That started the MIC.
  9. I mean, I think three are obvious. BD, Carmel, and Warren. Coach Moore has made Center Grove a great job. I think LCC, Cathedral and Chatard would be a tie for 5. Sleeping Giants: I think you've all hit the big ones. I'd watch out for Pike.
  10. My plan would be to look at the eight Sectionals and see if there isn't a better way to geographically make them work. Maybe East/West for semi-states rather than north/south. Sectionals 1, 3, 5, 6 West and 2, 4, 7, and 8 East? Also seeding the Sectional to get the Avon/Brownsburg/Carmel alignment out of the same Sectional, for example.
  11. Congratulations to the Greyhounds! A worthy 6A Champion. Great year for the Trojans. Watch out for CG in 2020.
  12. Let's assume the IHSAA does this, will you be back here again crying about splitting 6A Division 1 again in half?
  13. Otomewo at Minnesota Ball at Purdue Evans going back to Michigan Taylor at Indiana Bilal was heavily recruited at Northwestern before heading to ND But also in D1 Broc Thompson at Marshall It's late and I'm struggling to remember everyone. I'm sure I'm missing someone.
  14. Actually, it's Purple Rain. I'm not disputing that fan support has been a problem. Several comments ago, I acknowledged that this is not a new issue. My point was only that Coach Simmons and Coach Kirschner before him have encouraged their players to go support other sports. That's all. Calm down.
  15. You're really a piece of work. Go through Big Ten rosters and just count the number of BD and Warren players making contributions. That's just the Big Ten.
  16. Students get connected to their activities here. If you don't believe there's a family at BD, come look at our performing arts and how much those kids feel a part of something. Come look at some of the Area 31 Career programs where kids feel connected. At BD you have to get connected so something, and there's a ton of things to get connected to in Giantland. May not be your idea of "small town feel" but it's definitely something like it. It may not be showing in the stands, but it shows in the hallways. Also, I have to say Coach Simmons does a great job encouraging his young men to go support other programs. Fall sport student sections were dominated by football players. The Basketball coaching staff also does a great job with this.
  17. Here Here! I thought the Giants gave a good account of themselves on Friday night. Center Grove's youngster made two big plays on defense. Knocking the pass away from Nolen when he was on his way for six and forcing the Hassel fumble. Just a couple plays different and we're talking a tie game and who knows what happens after that. It was a physical football game. Too many flags also didn't help the Giants.
  18. This is just devastating news. I lost my mom on Christmas in 2014, and it just never gets easier every time that holiday rolls around. I am sending my condolences and prayers to everyone in the West Washington community and to Coach Bowsman, his family, and his friends.
  19. I wish I could explain it. BD shows for certain games and will line 10th Street and buy tons of tickets when the team makes a state run, but it's difficult to get our fans out before then. I remember in the 2000 Semi-State Center Grove had probably more fans than we did at home (frigid night and snowing). It kind of is what it is at this point.
  20. I think Carmel wins this one. It's a hunch. A gut feeling...and I have plenty of gut. Carmel 17, Center Grove 16
