Great accomplishment for sure. Warren Central was a beast under the direction of Kevin Wright. I know many call that the greatest 4-year span in football (large division).

Don't forget about WC's 99 yard hail mary that was actually well defended. I think it's safe to say WC had a few more bounces go there way. Kudos to them, they came away with the victory. I think Snider's D1 running back sitting on the bench was the difference, but that's just me. Anyway.................I'm just making a point that the North has their fair share of good football.

Speaking of scheduling, let's give some props to Carroll: 2023: Hamilton Southeastern, Warren Central, Snider, Homestead, Dwenger, and North Side. They'll be tested by all six of those teams. Not sure which three teams will fill out their schedule.

North's coaches and players are chippy when they play Snider. That's both understandable and human nature in my opinion. They're tired of being second best in this "rivalry." North Side has three sectional titles, but have not had one in 32 years. During that time, Snider has won 24 and have a grand total of 28. So yeah, they might be a little envious and pissed. From a coaching standpoint, there were times where the North Side defense had an answer for everything Snider threw their way. There were also many times when North's offense sliced through the Snider D like butter. Good game planning?

Uncatchable ball, was shocked to hear so many North fans booing. Easy no call for the refs. Stretch Armstrong is the only person I know who could have made that catch, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't on the field last night.

No one likes to see unsportsmanlike penalties. One way to look at is that Luers get's chippy when they play Eastside. That's a compliment to the Blazers. They've gotten underneath Luers skin as a program and have been a thorn in their side for four years now.

They need to, just for the sake of giving Fort Wayne representation in that class. Watching Snider and Dwenger dispose of each other isn't something we've ever had to endure.

I wanna say that North and Dwenger are still 5A next year, but I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can chime in on this

Luers lacks class? Never heard or seen that in four decades. I'm curious what you saw to come to that conclusion.

North Side is the real deal. They are four too many students away from playing New Pal/Roncalli for a state championship. Would have been fun to watch.

Kudos to the North Side community. They brought 2500 to the game tonight. Great crowd. I really thought they had the game. Up 21-12 with 8 minutes to go, 4th and 3 at the Snider 45, I really thought they screwed up by going for it instead of pinning Snider deep. That was the play of the game in my opinion. Snider only had to go half the field to cut the deficit to 21-18. That being said, Ben Johnson and company coached that game brilliantly on on both sides of the ball. As long as Johnson sticks around, North will be a force. Still not sure how Snider pulled this one out. Props to them though, they beat one hell of a football team despite awful special teams play and a couple of turnovers. North Side might have the best one two punch in the state with Tae Tae Johnson and Jontae Lambert.

Definitely an upside for the Fort Wayne schools. For Indy, it's just something different. Dwenger hasn't been looking so great. They'll struggle with Brownsburg. I think Snider will match up well with Warren Central. Carroll vs Hamilton Southeastern could be interesting. Carroll's sophomore qb is a stud. No idea what Homestead or Carmel return. But history favors Carmel in this one. Concordia vs Scecina could go either way.

I doubt desperation had nothing to do with it. Those teams know they can fill their schedule with talented teams within a 45 minute drive. But why not schedule the best of what Fort Wayne has to offer? It's something different. And I'm hearing a couple of those games could be featured at Lucas.

I do have to agree with some of the posters though. The suburbs have been building for some time now. The small country schools of Homestead and Carroll are now large enrollment programs with white collar families. It's a new age in football. In Allen County, the road to state always went through Snider. Now you have to add Homestead and Carroll to that list. Little schools like Westfield and Hamilton Southeastern who used to be insignificant, are now large suburban powers kids who come from families with resources. Those programs now have the resources to compete with BD, WC, and Carmel on a year to year basis.

I would argue that Snider had the best team in the state of Indiana in '86, '92, '97, and '04. It took Carmel overtime to beat Snider in '86 and Snider was without their starting quarterback and turned the ball over four times. The '04 team is arguable. Warren Central was very good. But they did have some lucky bounces to their way in defeating a Snider team whose D1 running back was out with a broken ankle. But the main question here is whether or not anyone up north has been competitive in the last 9 years. Yes they have. It was Penn in 2015. As far as Indy teams being better? No, that's just not the case. In fact, Indy football inside the donut is utterly awful. The teams out of Indy that dominate the rest of the state are the three mega giants...........Carmel, Ben Davis, and Warren Central. And the suburban schools who outnumber most of their competition in terms of enrollment. But to say Indy football is better? That's completely false.

I think Komets was looking at the overall picture when he stated "nobody." Without looking it up, it would appear that Warsaw had one of the weaker strength of schedules in 6A. Mishawaka and Northwood are certainly the exception on the Tigers schedule.

"Carmel growing to big" is a good point. But wouldn't it be harder to make a country club sport team than football? I imagine it's harder to make the swim, tennis, soccer, or golf team than it is to make the football team.
