  1. Computer ratings don't make me upset, just wondering why so much stock is put into them with the amount of flaws that they have. Using the eye test, I'd say this is going to be a really good game. I'll take Warsaw though in a hard fought battle.
  2. Why do people coninute to reference computer rankings? Honest question. The flaws are massive. What's the difference between Calpreps and Sagarin?
  3. It was the Northern Illinois loss. Had they beat Northern Illinois by 3pts, but lost to Texas A&M on the road by 3, then the committee would have them over Penn State. What would the rankings look like if the committee threw out each teams best and worst game? Would that be a good approach? I just don't know how any reasonably intelligent person can look at the Northern Illinois loss with any relevance at this point. Not after the way Notre Dame obliterated 10 better teams on their schedule.
  4. No worries. Thought maybe you knew something I didn't.

It's a good debate really. And what fun would the forum be without fan banter?
  6. Not sure what you're trying to tell me. Zero points this year, which means they'd have to earn 3 points next year to remain in 6A. That would mean winning semi-state.

No matter how you slice it, it was a classless move on Day's part. And they guy's too much of an idiot to come up with something other than "we're Ohio State."
  8. They have the athletes and the coaches, but the small enrollment really impacts the linemen. You have to be big in the trenches to win 6A. So yeah, getting past Crown Point, Westfield, and now Carmel is a massive mountain to climb.
  9. Agree. Unless Snider wins semi-state, they're back in 5A.
  10. Cathedral is an anomoly. There's really not a team in Indiana, that I know of, that you can compare them to. Are they a true 4A, 5A, or 6A? I'm not sure anyone really knows, it's all opinionated. East Central is 4A, yet to win 5A. I honestly don't know the answer to your question.
  11. It's a hard atmosphere to beat for the price. I don't care much for the indoor venue for NFL games, but it's pretty legit for high school. Especially when you can pick your seat.
  12. Zionsville can't seem to get it done at 2309, which puts them in the Homestead category. What kind of growth are we talking for them to make a run for it? I'm sure Turnquist wouldn't mind a few hundred extra kids.
  13. Even with fans staying home and streaming on the internet? I would imagine the biggest crowds came in the 80's and 90's.
  14. 5200 vs 2789. Good luck to Westfield, they'll need it. In 6A, games are won in the trenches, pretty plain and simple. The higher the enrollment, the bigger the boys on the line. This will be the Carmel/Westfield show with a little bit of HSE/Fishers sprinkled in. The better of Carroll, Crown Point, Penn, and Snider will make a run for it.
  15. Merrillville running out of gas in the second half is becoming a trend.
  16. Either way, Westfield has some competition for suburban supremecy in Northern Indy.
  17. Well, here we go. One of the state's best coaches takes over at the highest enrollment school in the state. He can win as many state championships as he want's to. Does the first one come in year two, three, or four?
  18. Unchartered territory for Warsaw. I bet the community is pretty jacked up.
  19. I get what you're saying. Good defenses make big plays...........turnovers and touchdowns. I'll use Luers as an example what I wouldn't consider a beatdown by the other team. They drive down to their opponents 5 yard line and throw a pick 6. Hard for me to consider that a beatdown by the Garrett defense after allowing the offense to move all the way down the field. I'll chalk that up as a good play, it just doesn't fit the beatdown category for me. Regardless, good teams also take over the second half of football games, and that's what Warsaw did. Sounds like a dominating second half performance.
  20. Just doesn't seem like a beatdown to me. Pick 6's can really make a score look deceiving.
  21. And I still think strength of schedule is important. Unfortunately, as you said, we won't get the opportunity to see New Pal play a 6A opponant this season. So we'll just have to place them in our pretend polls. Temp will have them inside his Top 10, I'll have them outside of mine. I'm not picking on New Pal, I just think 6A is a monster. Ralph gets the most bang out of his buck as well as anyone. Scary to think what he and a few other coaches around the state could do with an enrollment of 2500+. Moving on to HH/Luers. Gotta love these forums and how they lead us up to a highly anticipated game. This thread doesn't disappoint.
  22. 1. Yet they beat Westfield last season and their fan base felt this years team was even better. Saying they're overrated is a stretch. 2. I'd give you 7pt all day every day. Might even give you 9. 3. Why does everyone keep bringing up a team from 5 years ago? Will East Central be allowed to bring their 2023 team into converstation years down the road? Snider's 2004 team (the healthy one in the regular season) may not ever be duplicated by another Panther team. 4. Agree on Chatard. Most years they could go somewhere between 9-15 in 6A. They seemed a bit off this year. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves though. Cathedral is the cream of the Catholic crop, but struggle to advance when they get to 6A. Not sure why anyone thinks that a New Pal or East Noble would fare much better.
  23. Opinion respected, but you don't get to beat a bunch of 4A schools and proclaim you're one of the best. I might concede my "top twelve" argument, but I'm absolutely sold that the top ten teams in the state are 6A. Chatard on film looked a lot smaller than Carroll. I just don't see it. If my life depended on it, I'm taking Crown Point over New Pal. Now, no disrespect whatsoever to those programs. Chatard and New Pal are as good as anyone in the state at utilizing the resources that they have. But you know what? It's not a fair fight.
