  1. Not to burst your bubble, but debating with an idiot does nothing to affect my breathing pattern. I just find it comical that you get your panties in a wad just because some proud Snider fan claims this Panther team is one of the best 5 teams in the state. Who cares? Get off this thread and stop insulting a team that did something good tonight.
  2. So who really cares then? You think you're going to change the mind of a proud Snider program and their contingent of fans? No one really cares what some guy on the gridiron says, lol. These kids are celebrating a state championship tonight. I doubt any thought of where they rank statewide is even crossing their mind. They did something big tonight. You do nothing but type behind your keyboard insulting them. Your list of life accomplishments is probably pretty small, if anything at all.
  3. Yeah, but that game wasn't even close. I rank losing to Valpo last year right up there with losing to Penn in 1997 and Carmel in 1986. Three years Snider let the state championship slip through their fingers.
  4. Sorry, yours takes the cake. No matter how good Snider looked, some dumbo is going to come on here and diminish what they did to keep the "5A is bad" narrative going. I was actually pretty impressed with Decatur Central. They just ran into, arguably, the best defense Snider's ever put on the field. The Panther's defense is good enough to keep them in any game against any team in the state. I'm not saying I'm prepared to rank them #1, but your comment about all those teams beating Snider by multiple scores really illuminates your low IQ of the game. Snider tricked the entire state of Indiana into thinking they were overrated after their one point win over Mishawaka. Snider nation knows what I'm talking about.
  5. One thing we knew for sure was that this Snider team was coming into this season with a chip on their shoulder. The end of 2022 was arguably the most devastating loss in Snider history.
  6. C'mon, great program for sure. But no one want's to see a team with four losses making a tournament like that.
  7. Thanks, same to you. I'm heading out to what I think may be the best game of the finals this morning at 11am. I may be eating lots of crow on Sunday, but what the heck. It's all fun.
  8. It is an open and shut case. Cathedral takes the cake. I'll start the new topic on Sunday. You're still thinking in terms of overall talent level. That's why we have a class system. I don't think you can disqualify a program for having a small enrollment. A dynasty is a dynasty, no matter the level of play.
  9. Carroll really only had one bad game this year..........Warsaw. Mostly surprising because they have a really good defense and should have been ready for "Bart ball" having beaten the Tigers the year before. They certainly looked like Snider and HSE's equals when they played them.
  10. I really don't. Are we talking best team or dynasty. I thought the topic was dynasty. Let's take this to another thread.
  11. Why is that? From 2009 to 2012 Bishop Luers was 24-0 in the post season with only two games decided by less than 10 points. If that's not dominance, I'm not sure what is. Average margin of victory 26 points. Lafayette Central Catholic also went 24-0 during that same time period with the closest game being 10 points. Average margin of victory 36 points. Warren Central was also 24-0 during their run. Only two games decided by less than 7 points. Average margin of victory 34 points. Looks to me like Lafayette Central Catholic is the winner here.
  12. I would argue that many programs could claim they were this or that away from winning a game. I could write a book on that topic regarding my favorite team. I put Center Grove up there with Ben Davis and Penn. I'm not sure what makes the Trojans better than the Giants and Kingsmen. Over all, in all classes, I think we have to look at the four in a row by Luers and LCC.
  13. I know this is a 6A thread, but are we including the other classes? Luers and LCC won four consecutive. That has to trump Center Grove.
  14. I don't think it has to be. You simply divide Indiana into 8 regions and have a representative from each area. I think that's the best we could ask for even though the northern most reps and the southern most reps probably know little about the other's area. I'll be honest. There's probably not a group of people more informed than those here on the Gridiron. I don't think you could trust a current coach or AD since their primary focus is their own program and who they are playing next week. I can't imagine they have much of a grip on who the Top 8 would be. I will give the media some credit. Many of them are regulars on this site, but don't necessarily post.
  15. Harrison, Mississinewa, and Heritage Hills are opting out of this. If I'm the AD at those schools, no way am I setting my programs up for that slaughter.
  16. College football is different because you have super conferences, whereas you don't in high school. There are over 350 football teams in the state of Indiana and I'm not sure there is once conference that has over 10 teams in it. That being said, including a team that finished 3rd in their own conference would bore me to tears. Do I think an 8 team tournament with Carroll instead of HSE is more interesting on a state wide level? Absolutely. But I honestly wouldn't see it coming down to that as I don't have either in the Top 8.
  17. Luers from 2009-2012. Lafayette Central Catholic from 2009-2012. I think those are your next two. There's been several. I'm sure Ben Davis, Penn, Center Grove, Western Boone, Roncalli, Chatard, Cathedral, and Sheridan would love to be added to the conversation.
  18. It was a good showing for sure, anyone who was there could tell you. But damn, talk about some lucky bounces. Also, you won't convince anyone from Northeastern Indiana that Snider wasn't the best team in the state that year when Quale Lewis wasn't in crutches. All I'm saying is that there have been a couple of teams from the north that were competitive since 1996. And I get what you're saying, by and large, it's been highly lopsided.
  19. I don't see the point in including a team that finished 3rd in their own conference. I'm not proclaiming Snider's better than HSE, just saying that the rule should be 'no more than two teams from the same conference.' I'd rather give an outlier like Snider a chance. I eliminated Merrillville and Penn based on their blowout losses in the regular season, for the record. Also for the record, the HSE/Carroll game was VERY evenly matched. The difference was two pick 6's for touchdowns. But that's part of the game, so kudos to HSE for being opportunistic.
  20. The difference in 2004 was two lucky touchdowns, an unforced error, and a D1 running back sitting on the sidelines. Just sayin. But I get your point. Games are lopsided for the most part. Penn gave a good showing in 2015.
  21. I still think Cathedral is disqualified with four losses, that would leave room for Snider, who would get the nod based on their head to head with Carroll. Furthermore, how in the hell is Brownsburg a #4 seed? I think if there were a committee, East Central drops down to #4. I think many on that committee are going to look at their schedule that is predominantly 3A and 4A schools. That has to be taken into consideration. Yes, I know the win over Moeller was good.
