We are having the same discussion in our house. I can’t believe IHSAA has raised ticket prices so much. I have been following the HS of some extended family. Last week/this week prices in Missouri have been $6 and $8 for state qtr/semi finals. I guess inflation is just much higher here.

What the IHSAA said they were going to do, and what they have actually done are not the same, IMO.

This seems to sell Brotherton (15 carries for 96 yards) a bit short. Not sure who would be the ‘best RB’ on the field, but I would say EC has the most dynamic running game with their two backs. Like all November games this one will come down to protecting the football and playing defense. Whichever team does that better will win and have a favorable matchup at LOS.

I can picture it now. Haubstadt Sommerfest 2035, @Titan32 and @Screagle trying to round up the 2021 Titans and Tigers to play the big game that never happened. I can’t wait to see Brady Allen in those white cleats!

Related - I feel like the NFL has given up trying to make sure the inside/slot receiver isn't covered up by the wideout. I watch games and there is no way one of them is off and one is on. I can't be the only one watching games on Sunday and think "No way is that guy eligible to go downfield."

It would make sense to think of it that way. 22 1st team and 22 2nd team = 44. So 42/47 wouldn't be all that out of line. I'm more suspicious of a team like Forest Park (0 Conference wins) getting 8 players named or Tell City (2 conference wins) getting 7. I heard a rumor that Southridge was moving to "Big" division next year with the addition of Tecumseh. Has that been confirmed?

For a little bit there was a City vs Area all star game. A few years it was sponsored by Hardee's (or more likely the local franchise owner) and played at the University of Evansville. Once UE dropped football, the game lost its luster - playing on a college field - plus I think the City was something like 13-2 against the area.

Yes and No. As far as SOS and only 1 win against top 64, the answer is yes. EM's overall lower Sagarin rating is due to losing weeks 1 & 2 against teams that are lower rated. Here is what it looks like on CalPreps. It doesn't matter at this point, but I would be curious what the rating would look like if the results in red were different.

Perhaps the thread title should be ‘David is a myth.’ Because I agree that the David’s of the world (bottom 32) rarely if ever beat the Goliaths. Cinderella still attended the ball and had a blast, but the clock eventually struck midnight. So IMO absolutely a school like Pike Central is a Cinderella story… even if the clock runs out and their season is done. They don’t have to be David on Friday night vs Owen Valley

Great story. Until this week I didn’t realize OV was the only high school in Owen County. OV and their opponent next week, Pike Central, are disproving my theory of single HS county schools don’t have postseason success. (Albeit, Pike Central’s success this year is for a completely different reason than OV) I assume Owen Valley is a consolidation of smaller HS, maybe Spencer and Freedom had separate schools 50 years ago?

I believe Coach Hart went to India and met with the Lama himself, the Dalai Lama who taught him the game of football. Then Coach Hart returned to the United States, spreading the teachings of the Lama to Knute Rockne and Mike Ditka. Then in 2012, he moved to Ft Branch and brought the game to Indiana. HS football never existed until 2012. At least I think that's what I heard.

Hunt (QB) and Johnson (RB) for Vincennes started last year, but suffered season ending injuries in Week 1 or Week 2. That is a huge difference between the 2021 and 2022 version of the Alices.

Your statement doesn't make Tango's incorrect. Simply put - have you ever heard of the IHSAA turning down money? An interested party could stream the game if they had the capability/desire to do so.

My guess is it will be the second Notre Dame recruit in 5 years. Drayk Bowen seems to fit the Jack Kiser mold. Smaller class school coming through the northern Indiana bracket. Plays on both sides of the ball and can dominate games at times.

I was going to ask if this was Buddy Ryan’s ‘Polish Goalline’ defense. Although that play was built on only one stop needed and not 3! And the refs catching it too.

Last Friday went pretty much the way I would have expected. VL giving GS a scare but the Titans ultimately pulling it out. And this is exactly why Coach Hart beefed up the schedule. Making crunch time plays and game winning drives vs TH South and South Warren helped win this game. Anytime it’s a 1 score game late 3rd/ early 4th is a pressure packed situation and GS came through. That is what a tougher schedule gets you, IMO. So kudos on that.

Since the first (and only) sectional win in school history, Pike Central has drawn and lost to Heritage Hills (65-7), Mater Dei (56-0), Ev Bosse (83-23) and Gibson Southern (63-6). No one seemed to complain, yet for the first time in 20 years they win and its a travesty. If you can’t find The Fish Hut on a map, feel free to sit this one out.
