A lot of it seem like pettiness just for pettiness' sake to me. It wasn't an issue in 2020 (Covid year) where both sides were limited to 250 tickets. The health department hasn't set a cap, but there still may not be too many more on the home side Friday. At least in red. I wasn't around back then, but how did Harrison/Bosse handle the seating arrangements prior to Romain's construction? Looking up north, how did things turn out for Broad Ripple HS after Chatard moved away and stopped using their campus/facility?

There are some days I wish Memorial was still playing 3A. And there are some days I REALLY WISH Memorial was playing 3A. lol

The other thing is the ‘traditional powers’ of the 8-team SIAC have a backloaded schedule. Reitz still has Castle and Memorial on the schedule. Plus MD/Reitz and Castle/Memorial are always week 9 matchups. And usually Bosse/Harrison in week 9 hurt each other’s SOS for the final standings.

There are two things that impact the ratings, although I'm not a math guy enough to figure out exactly how much they impact. 1. The rating systems use a legacy measure of some sort. I think Calpreps (and maybe Massey) have some sort of input to that effect. For example, 2021 Evansville Central was positively affected by its 12-1 sectional championship team in 2020, even though the eye test would tell you that the program took a turn after the coaching change. It might even stretch multiple years by I'm not sure. In a conference like the Hoosier Hills, PAC, MSC, or PLAC where there is a lot of crossover early in the season this goes away. With the SIAC, not only is the conference closed but even Sectional 24 causes issues. Look at Central and Harrison who only played SIAC schools including sectional opponents last year. http://calpreps.com/cgi-bin/2007/ratings_fixes3.pl 2. I think Sagarin more than the other two is dependent on SOS. If you think about the SIAC regular season, every win means a loss for another team. The conference will finish 45-45 on the year. Every opponent's opponent's SOS will be identical. Only your SOS will be slightly different (Reitz can't play a 5-0 team and Central can't play an 0-5 team.) In other words, when Reitz played Central, the lowest SOS team will beat the highest SOS team by a considerable margin. If Mater Dei and Vincennes Lincoln win rounds 1 and 2 in sectionals, and Castle/North don't play each other in round 1, there will still be a lot of fluctuation. Only then would I try to compare the SIAC to the rest of the state.

Interesting concept and I really liked it. But unless Hendrix is playing is a weird league that allows you to play two QB’s or put one at flex then I think he would have to be 4 just by default. I have played in a league like that, so it’s not out of the question.

The official on Roncalli’s sideline gives the arm indicating his WR was off the line. Drops his flag because he only had two on his side. It appears to me (from the camera angle at least) that there are 5 in the backfield- the wideout, tight wing, QB, RB, and a slot. Is the formation on 4th down legal?

That was how I saw it. The CJ reacted to the mass substitution and assumed IU had subbed. It appears then he looked to the wing on IU's sideline and got a signal that IU did not sub and backed off. But the play was definitely chaos and I couldn't hear the TV at the bar where I was watching.

Cincinnati Moeller (#61) will host East Central this weekend. That will be one to keep an eye on.

It seems Harrison's win over Jasper might have quieted the PAC is just as good as the SIAC crowd. At least temporarily. From what I've read in the paper Jasper's QB didn't play the whole game and they lost Bair and then his backup during the game. Running a triple option offense with injuries to two out of three is really bad, no matter what Meatloaf said. I've always felt week 3 was the turning point in a season. Maybe that's a carryover from the 8 team/7 conference game mentality. All code of conduct players will return and we start to see more connections for SOS type discussions. I have known one team who had a goal to start the season 2-0, but that was a rare exception.

When is a bad snap a ‘snap infraction’ and not a bad snap/fumble? I am assuming the offense was running the ‘freeze’ play - hard count then look to the sideline. 10 players got the memo because everyone was set. Everyone except the center who snapped the ball.

Not only that, but I've heard that the crew marked him down at the six inch line (which appears to be correct, IMO). So the headlines that they won the game on the play are a bit sensationalized.

Not to my knowledge. Crazy thing though is that you could combine MD and Memorial and still have less students (1050 or so) than Harrison, Central, Reitz, or North. Only would be bigger than Bosse. What's Jasper's current enrollment? Probably right around that, at least last time I checked.

Wait. You're telling me THSV doesn't have two players wearing #20? One named Josh Cottee who is a SR. and the other one is Joshua Cottee, who is a 6'1 200lb SR? 😄 Maxpreps is better than nothing, but I've learned to take it with a heavy dose of salt. Graduates and players that have quit somehow still appear on a lot of rosters, but they get shuffled to the bottom with no jersey #. As an example, I doubt Forest Park really has 63 athletes on this year's team. Although if they do, they immediately become my favorite to win the PAC small division.

You've basically described the teams traditionally in the bottom half of the SIAC standings, IMO.

Another important question - when do your freshmen play? Saturday, Monday, or Thursday? I think the SIAC has adopted the Thursday BEFORE the varsity game the next night. Which is the absolute worst day possible, IMO.

I really hope someone meant to give a #1 vote for Mooresville and accidentally clicked Martinsville by mistake. That is the only way that makes sense.

I’ll allow it. It is 29.6 miles north of monument circle in downtown Indy. Makes a whole lot more sense than County Road 600 South.

Easy for a fan of New Prairie to say. SB St Joe, Lowell, Northridge. Every single one of those schools is 60-70 minutes away. Meanwhile down south Evansville Memorial faced Northview (2.5 hours), East Central (4 hours - via Ohio and Kentucky) and Mt Vernon (3.5 hours). You can worry about fall Saturday activities, I think allowing students to stay in school until 3 and parents to work until 5 is kind of a big deal too. Neutral sites? I agree. That would never work. But Saturdays can make sense sometimes

Illinois mandates all playoff games on Saturday between 1 and 7pm unless BOTH teams agree on a switch to Friday to eliminate gamesmanship. *cough MD/Triton Central * cough I would be ok with Indiana doing the same with regional and SS rounds.
