I think we overestimated the quality of football in the PAC, yet again. North Posey, South Spencer, and (for a bit) Forest Park presented real challenges to Heritage Hills and Southridge and then eventually Gibson Southern. The Titans had a good squad in 2002 that got banged up. A regional or semistate loss by the Sectional 32 winner is not beyond possibility, due in part to the weakness of the PAC.

As we continue to try to be more active on social media (primarily Twitter @gridirondigest), I'm reaching out to you, the community, for your best photographs from 2019 games. Details: - At least 2000px wide (horizontal), 1200px for vertical - High quality, typically from the sidelines, from a DSLR camera or mobile phone - Action shots showing both teams or closeups of coaches - Photos should not infringe copyright law (don't submit photos that aren't yours or you have submitted to news outlets with copyright restrictrictions) - TGD is a non-profit, community forum. We would love to be able pay for the photos. Instead, we can give you a @mention on Twitter to our 8,000+ followers or your TGD user name or real name - Quality over quantity... We only need 4-5 per week now. Maybe more in the future. Thanks to anyone who wants to help and share your talent and love of Friday Night Lights. ~ Chris

Week 7 Scores and Updates - 2019

Week 7 should be called the stay healthy week while not losing the driver's seat on the conference. A lot of things can go wrong this week. Where do all expect upsets? -

In 1990, Carmel lost a potential 6A second string DE (me) to Heritage Hills (father left Ellis for another plastics sales job). 96th and Lakeshore, grandmother (Class of 57) is a legacy and shocked the family by marrying a Southside Catholic who went to Cathedral. Their children went to NC. -

Yes, you're correct. I had the privilege of being a football player when North Spencer hired Mr Scherry. Coach Clayton "supervised" us during a "conditioning session" that unpacking the Scherry family's things from the box truck. Then after my first college stint, I got to learn a lot about coaching and basketball as a grade school assistant under Coach Scherry. Then Simon was too young, but I referreed some of Simon's games in elementary school. Simon may set some basketball records at HH, but Dan has the assist records at Memorial Gym, I believe. He's wirey! -

Without getting into specifics, how banged up were HH and GS. How many Titans played two ways compared to Patriots. On the HH secondary, I think some people forget how good of an all-around athlete Sigler was at IU. HH is finally starting to get another round of legacy athletes. I expect a drop over the next few years, but once some of the 1990s and 2000s players have children, they will have some strong runs. I think the same is true at Jasper in football and Southridge. Good thing the HH school system brought in Mr Sherry when they did. Sam playing at Southridge would make them a scary good 2A basketball team this year. -

Two birds one stone. The arguments for splitting Carmel are very valid despite Carmel being a top academic and athletic school. If the population of Hamilton County continues to increase, won't Carmel need to be split? It's larger than many private colleges in Indiana. (If another Moderator feels my post is off topic, please split it off...) -
Southridge 6-0 at Heritage Hills 6-0

Very South Spencer-esque. It only takes a few HH mistakes early for Southridge to force HH into a different style of offensive play. I'm not sure if HH has had its "bad" regular season game, but if it's going to happen, , it'll likely be this week after a huge win against a familiar and disciplined foe in the Raiders. -

Why and when did Lawrence Township split into two school systems? For the record, I was born in Indianapolis and would've gone to Carmel. However, at a young age my family moved to Santa Claus, which is comprised of two townships (Clay and Carter). The entirety of Spencer County with a population of just over 20,000 has two high schools and school systems, South Spencer (HS by the same name) and North Spencer (Heritage Hills HS). I bring this up because school districts in Indiana are based on townships, not counties. In the case of Marion, we have many exceptions, but little coordination on definining boundaries. Unfortunately political gerramdering comes into play, but the IHSAA has the ability to limit a program size... Let's say they put the 6A maximum at 2,500 enrollment. What're the ups and downs? . . .. -
Southridge 6-0 at Heritage Hills 6-0

What offense is Southridge running this year? I believe the familiarity of the programs at all levels puts the over/under around 49.5 points which is quite high given their histories. -

Leave Your Drones at Home for the Tourney
hhpatriot04 replied to Bobref's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The rule exists to cover someone's butt in court if a drone hits a spectator, participant, or causes some other kind of person. I don't think much competitive advantage could be gleaned from even live drone video footage. If you are going to that end, jam the opponents coaches' headsets. -

Please continue to post Week 6 updates on Saturday - Thread: - Twitter @gridirondigest #TGD: https://twitter.com/gridirondigest -
Anyone have any longer footage of the game that shows line play, other than just highlights? It seemed like HH struggled to pressure Allen, according to the highlights and stats. HH also seemed to always have a safety over the top and then play soft man-to-man on the back end. What happened with HH's two punts for 4 yards? Block, bad snap, shank? Those will bite the Patriots against the Raiders and in the sectional...

Gibson Southern 4-1 at Heritage Hills 5-0

One of the grade schools IS, in fact, Nancy Hanks Elementary. I went to David Turnham and then Lincoln Trail when it was built (never lost a youth football game to those Chrisney southerners or big town Dale schoolboys or the Mariah Hill/Fulda/St Meinrad Catholics). Within a span of six years, you had four DI football players (Jade Winchell, Jon Goldsberry, Jay Cutler and Cole Seifrig) grow up within less than 3 miles from each other. Cutler and Goldsberry played in the NFL, Winchell was too concussed to want to continue after a stellar career where he shined against better competition like vs Florida at Ball State and Seifrig twice turned down Purdue scholarships under Tiller to play minor league baseball in the Marlins system. Jade has been a secondary coach at Perry Central. Jon greatly has boosted the influence of the Quarterback Club, and Jay, well is a reality TV "star." -

Yes, that #IBelieve, although, perhaps a few brave souls will opine. Conference and All Sports Championships are at stake. -
Steve ... What's he up to now? Coaching? Selling end-zone cameras? @DK_Barons and @77Jimmie got us out of his attempted hijack of the forum from TA around 2004 or 2005. Still thankful that @Mrs Gridirondigest is keeping her vigilant eyes on all of us!

I'm playing 7s Rugby tomorrow. Offsides is a huge problem in rugby. What player tracking exists and could it be implemented in American football? -
I didn't think you had Facebook, let alone email. How did you ever find The Gridiron Digest?
