Football Season Options
wrcsage replied to from_the_sidelines007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Doesn’t the fact that we’re all talking about less than normal conditions/parameters for the season make you all think that this is just one big pipe dream?? I’ve said multiple times....I want a season as much as anyone, but common sense says it most likely won’t happen. -
Let's Play Some Football!
wrcsage replied to Coach Harvey's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Let’s look at this realistically. Why would the IHSAA come out and announce anything different at this time? The IHSAA is the governing body of HS sports in Indiana and it’s workers are people who have been put in those places by the IHSAA Executive Committee. The IHSAA Executive Committee happens to be comprised of all “school” people from various parts of the state. Schools want to open. Schools want to play. The IHSAA wants to play from a financial standpoint (that is their concern). There was no reason for them to announce anything different at this time. And they won’t announce anything different.....UNTIL they are told to do so by either the state government/DOE or the federal government. There was never a doubt what the IHSAA’s stance would be. -
Suspended or cancelled season

Comparing professional leagues starting back up and playing to high school sports is simply ridiculous. Look at the measures ALL of these professional leagues have gone to to be able to play again, yet we are all thinking that high schools and high school sports will just start back up in normal operation mode! -

I will state again....what is different with the virus? It is still highly contagious. We still have no vaccine/treatment. I’m pretty sure nothing has changed with the virus itself since back in March. -

I am for football this fall as much as anyone....but I still pose the question: what is different now with the virus than back in March when we shut it all down? -
Should we return to play on schedule?

Illinois about ready to pull the plug on fall sports and not start anything until January. -
Finally Got a Plan.....Let's Play Some Football!!
wrcsage replied to cw13's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
If you think this is a plan that is pointing towards playing football then I greatly appreciate your wild optimism! Unfortunately, I think we’re witnessing March all over again...this time in a much slower burn. -
Should we return to play on schedule?
wrcsage replied to Titan32's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
It’s happening...just a lot slower than last spring. -
Then why didn’t we finish the basketball tourney in March? Why didn’t we try to play a shortened spring season? There is absolutely ZERO difference with the virus today than there was then. Everyone is hoping, but it just isn’t going to happen if you use common sense.

I’m pretty sure I tried to explain this a few days ago and a couple of blowhards just wanted to rip me up!! Yes, there are precautions/guidelines in place, but NOBODY is following them! You have to wear a mask into the building of an aau tourney and then once you pay (and they get your $$) you can do whatever the hell you want! -

Just curious, and I know you tried to present some facts/guestimations.....what is different from now and March? Projections don’t do much for me! And I am all for going forward with fall sports....but I don’t see anything different from then until now as far as the virus goes? -

Should we return to play on schedule?
wrcsage replied to Titan32's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I have a kid that plays on a very high level club team. We’ve never payed a dime to play. Our only cost is admission into the games....which can run anywhere from $10-$25 per day depending on where you play. That is the almighty $ at work! Have 500 people come through your door during a day paying $15/person and tell me it isn’t about the $$? -

wrcsage replied to Titan32's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Thanks for the grammar correction! My children play club sports....have been in Indy the last 4 weekends and have not seen any of what you’re talking about. I will say it again, club sports are up and running ONLY because of the almighty $$. I payed more (much more actually) to get in a 3-day tourney a few weekends ago than I would have to pay if my high school team played all 9 road games this fall. -

Club sports are a joke also. Masks “required” to enter, then MAYBE 25% of the people where them when they get past the pay table! Club sports are a full go because of one reason....$$ -
Should we return to play on schedule?
wrcsage replied to Titan32's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Yes, it’s a local decision. But having said that, if 150 schools decide to suspend football...what does that look like for the fall? -

I want someone to answer one simple question: What is different now than back in March? The virus is still here. There is still no vaccine or treatment for it. I hope we have fall sports and I hope we all go back to school. But how can anyone sit back and watch all that is going on and say they are confident that it will all happen? There is literally no difference between July 18 and March 18. -
As has been stated prior...I and everyone else want HS sports to happen. Having said that, there is one simple question here: What is different today (July 17) than back in March/April when everything was shut down? Is the virus not still as highly contagious as it was then? Until we have a vaccine/treatment, how can any situation be any different than back when all of this began?

We shall see soon enough. I wouldn’t hold your breath!

It’s just a matter of time before the kabosh is put on for everyone unfortunately. Once there reaches a limit of so many schools not having in-school instruction and suspendIng athletics everyone else will follow suit.

JULY 1st HERE WE COME
wrcsage replied to Coach Nowlin's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
There is no Moratorium this summer. That was waived by the IHSAA. People can start on July 1 this summer. -
Corona and Fall Sports
wrcsage replied to Hoosier Hawk's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The IHSAA won’t mess with spring sports for 2 consecutive years. And let’s say this fantasy of spring football does happen, the IHSAA will take a financial hit because attendance will not be what it is in the fall. The way the tournament is set up now you have the state finals during a break...allowing for 2 consecutive days of state finals games. How does that look like in the spring? If there is no football this fall then what you will see is the IHSAA taking a big % (or 100%) of the sectional revenues from girls and boys basketball in 20-21 and then likely the same thing in the fall of 21 with football and possibly both basketballs. This pandemic is most certainly putting a strain on the budgets of the IHSAA and athletic departments, but what I fear more is what does this pandemic do to state education funding next year and the future? There may be some major issues there. -
Corona and Fall Sports
wrcsage replied to Hoosier Hawk's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The boys basketball sectional is the first Friday in March and the tournament runs through March. You also have 1 or 2 week spring breaks in middle/late March or early April to deal with. You all are grasping at straws with this spring football idea...will never happen.
