Gimme your week 1 point spreads for the two biggies in Fort Wayne.

I’ll go Warren -5.5 and HSE -2.5.

Carroll -3 with it being at home, extremely tough to win at Carroll

Snider and Warren I have no clue yet so I will just say it is a pick em game. Wish this game was a week later so we all could see what is what for both teams. Something tells me the winner win by double digits

They will be a contender in the North for 5A this year. Expect them to be playing for a regional title. Where that puts them, not sure, somewhere around 25-30

So 20+ spots behind the team whose season they ended by two touchdowns?

Got it.

Hey, Warren was tied with BD with 3 minutes to go last year so does that mean they are close to equal with BD last year? Works both ways….

You set the criteria of last year’s results (specifically “how the season ended”) taking precedent for the next year’s preseason rankings, not me.

I’ve spoken at length about that Warren/BD game on this forum.  The final score didn’t tell the story.  Not even close.

Two special teams TDs for Warren and BD’s D1 lineman was not in uniform.

Maybe I am out of the loop but can you say the same thing/something similar about the Carroll/Warsaw game?

I did not watch the game so I can’t tell you exactly what happened with Carroll vs Warsaw game. As BTF said, things happen in each game to change an entire narrative for a team. Perfect example, best team in 6A forme last year was Brownsburg. How they lost to BD escapes me….

Not me.  I watched how they lost.  Snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.  Coaching malpractice.

Love the back and forth/chatter and your passion for the sport my man.

Just out of curiosity, had Warren/Carroll played in the second to last regular season game as opposed to the second regular season game, would the result have been any different?

The result would be another dogfight to the end, could go either way like it did in Week 2. Most teams improve as the season progresses, not just some. Losing to Warsaw was not indicative as to how good Carroll was. They played HSE even up with the exception of two pick 6's that went for TD's. The Snider game could have went in their direction as well.............two pick 6's for the win was the difference. Had Snider lost to Mishawaka last year, they more than likely wouldn't be in anyone's Top 15 this season. One game changes everything.

Snider 2004 with a healthy Quale Lewis was one of the best teams I've ever seen. An injury in Week 9, now they aren't even on the radar for one of the state's best all time teams. No one will remember Brownsburg last year other than Brownsburg fans and a few people like us who REALLY know high school football. Homestead 2002? Forget it, no one will remember.

Good stuff.

It’s been well documented on here that the Snider win over Warren was a huge surprise (particularly the margin) last year and I can see why that gives some pause.

However, I keep coming back to your post telling me that the Panthers are starting four new on the offensive line which I would assume means that is the biggest question mark of their team.

Consequently, Warren’s defensive line is their most proven commodity and easily its most talented position group.

Now, it’s the same guys as last year with just another year of experience so take that with a grain of salt.

With down years in 2019 & 2020, and premature dismissals in 2021 & 2022, I don't think anyone really felt like Snider was on par with some of the teams they had in the past. Then one of the best 6A programs comes to town and the question became "how close can they keep it."

Snider's offensive line does concern me with the jump to 6A. I think at that level you have to be very good, and big, in the trenches to advance. Not saying they can't, after all, they have one of the best offensive line coaches there is. It's Snider's defense that could take them along way. I'd be surprised if Warren's offense scores very much. I think it will be a low scoring game. Whoever is most opportunistic on turnovers and special teams will win this game. I don't see a blowout in either direction.

Coaching malpractice is exactly it. Those kids from Brownsburg didn’t lose that game, the coaches did. I would have gladly slotted Snider behind Brownsburg last year had they won state as they were that damn good.

I'm thinking WC by 10-13, maybe a bit more?? Snider comes back and gets them at LOS for the 6A title.

Might as well let the cat out of the bag…

Not sure if this changes anyone’s mind, or is common knowledge yet but Westfield’s starting RB from last year (1199 yards) is now at Warren Central…

Up here, we already knew. So did the kid go to live with another relative, which is often how this happens? It has been pretty hush hush up here about this news though.

Yeah, not sure how Snider's little guys will compete. Let's just hope they come out in one piece.

How did Snider look at the scrimmage, other then being tiny?

Warren could win this one half asleep, they'd be better served by preparing for that Warsaw offense a week early.

I know this is off topic, but are we doing a pick 'em this year?

Logan will be needed on both sides of the ball..the transfer rb didn't get many looks though..it was vanilla like a typical Snider scrimmage..lots of technique..not alotta beef.. qb looked like a 1st yr starter..
