Don’t wanna grow too much though…they’d be an afterthought in 6A.

Agree. Kind of like North Side. They need to lose 10 kids so they can play at the 4A level.

You can be onboard, I am not.

I’ll go a step farther…two state finals appearances in Enright’s tenure losing to an all-time New Pal team and one of the only teams not to be out of the game by halftime against the Dragons.

Four other seasons ended by the cheat code known as Cathedral and the most consistent team in a conference that is undervalued and growing.

A top 15-20 ranking is completely fair to the Hawks in my opinion…probably not competitive against the top 6A dogs but easily among the best non-6A teams in the state.  Play maker at QB in Polston and always solid skill position guys.

North Side? Really? I will repeat for the 498th time, as long as the bozos, er coaches, are still running that joke of a program, they will be a bottom feeder at any level. Carry on

They weren't so bad in 2022. I dubbed them as the 2nd best team in 5A that year.

Well, no, I wasn't joking. North Side had three losses in 2022. They lost by a touchdown to the 6A runner up. And twice by a combined 6pts to the team most considered 5A's best team throughout the season. There were four pretty good teams in 5A that year, North was one of them. At least give me #4. I know you can't stand North Side, but give credit where credit is due.

Give me Top 6 then...........c'mon. They took the Panthers to the wire twice loosing by a combined 6 points and lost by just a touchdown to the team that took out HSE. I get it, you don't care for the coaching staff over there. But that North Side team was capable of beating anyone in 5A that year. Why else would 2500 fans show out for their team in the playoffs? C'mon, you can say it....."somewhere in the Top 6."

In eight seasons, Kyle Enright has won 9+ five times. That's pretty good consistency other than the 2022 season where they went 4-7. Those more familiar with Indy tout DC as a 'growing enrollment' area, hence the expectations for their program. They are my preseason #1 in 5A.

Decatur Township has had stable growth for the last few years. I live here. The only new neighborhoods have largely been apartments. No new housing developments in several years. Decatur's been a solid program for several decades. The move to 5A made things a little easier and with Cathedral up in 6A it has made it an even better situation.

I should say that Decatur did grow exponentially from 2000 to 2010, but that growth has really tapered off in the last 5-10 years. Still lots of farmland and room to grow down here, but we keep having to fight off warehouses. Not much residential growth. Most of the houses are "starter homes" as well.

I guess that makes sense being near the airport?

I think this is the most logical based on how the season ended last year.

The only outlier is Carroll, but their recent history against Indy schools and current program stability warrants a top 10 inclusion.

I am surprised at how low you put Snider on this list.

Snider would have won 6A North last year. Unless you think they take a step back this year?

I don't think they take a step back. They'd be favored to win 5A again this year for sure. They are strong at the skill positions, but only return one starting offensive lineman. I think 6A is won in the trenches. I'd like to see how they handle Warren Central in week one before I anoint them as a Top 5 team.

Might as well let the cat out of the bag…

Not sure if this changes anyone’s mind, or is common knowledge yet but Westfield’s starting RB from last year (1199 yards) is now at Warren Central…

Good Lord, you'd think these coaches could put together a good team with the resources that they have. I know you don't like Dabo, but you have to respect the commitment he gives to the kids who were committed to the program from Day 1.
