temptation Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 (edited) Greetings all! Been scouring MaxPreps a bit, looking at rosters from last year and digging where I can to get info on this upcoming season. Some of the BEST intel comes from this very board! Hard to fathom we are just a month away from the start of the high school football season here in the Hoosier state. A few years ago on a whim, I started releasing a weekly a classless top 50 list of what thought were the best 50 teams from around the state. Admittedly, I know some areas better than others and am relying on boxscores on many occasions. That all being said, I am going to do it again this fall albeit a bit differently. I am going to release the teams in this fashion. Friday, July 19th: teams 26-50 (alphabetically; “the best of the rest”) Friday, July 26th: teams 21-25 Friday, August 2nd: teams 16-20 Friday. August 9th: teams 11-15 Friday, August 16th: teams 6-10 Friday, August 23rd: teams 1-5 Your conversation is welcome and appreciated! Edited July 17, 2024 by temptation 3 Quote

BTF Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Thoughts on Indy Lutheran, Adams Central, and Bishop Luers? Without knowing every team in the state inside and out, was it easier to just leave the smaller schools off the list? I get it, pre-season polls at the high school level can be challenging. Quote

Had 65 teams on my original list, including two of the three you mentioned but as I stated in a different thread (fair or unfair) 1A/2A teams usually have to prove it with some early season results as they usually are unable to recover from graduation losses as easily as larger schools. 1 Quote

Appreciate all the work you've done in preparation for your Top 50! Would be difficult for a 1A/2A team to get listed. What criteria do you use to separate these teams? as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007 Quote

Rodney Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 HH GS NP (the good one) no idea what west lafayette has been up to, nor whiteland/zionsville, but plainfield had a pretty solid season recently as well if i recall. Quote
Rodney Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 is michigan city still competitive enough to make the top 25? 1 Quote

Leo is pretty good, Homestead can be really good or average, East Noble I think will trend downward this year. Replacing a good coach is never easy 1 Quote
Komets2727 Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Looking at their schedules I see the following: Leo 8-1 Homestead 6-3 East Noble 6-3 Quote

Zionsville will be a big ? at QB. They started a SR last year and when he went down with an injury they brought in a 5'10 Soph who struggled some. I see they have a 6'2 SR on the roster now who appears to have transferred in from Carmel. No idea whether or not he was Carmel's JV QB last year and will compete for a starting job at Zionsville. I do know they need to do everything possible to get he ball into Hilton's hands. He's a threat for a TD everytime he touches the ball. 1 Quote

And Avon/Zionsville are the only HCC teams not in the Top 25? Quote
