Believe me when I say, I am far from a fan of the Penn Kingsmen - but how can they beat an IFCA Coaches' poll previously ranked 5A #3 Valparaiso team  - and then not get at least 1 single vote in 6A this week? Meanwhile, Valparaiso only falls a spot to #4 in 5A. I get that polls are meaningless, but wild to me that coaches would still rank Valpo so high, but not give any love whatsoever to Penn.

In 3A, Mississinewa shuts out Norwell and moves down in the polls.  Norwell, who only won 3 games last year, moves in right behind Mississinewa in the polls.  Mississinewa was ranked 5th in the final poll last season in 4A.  Yes, Mississinewa lost their QB and WR, but returned the majority of their defense, offensive line, RB's, and more.  No respect for Ole Miss.  Guess they will just have to blow out 4A Marion this week and run the table again in the CIC, then maybe they will get some respect.  Oh, Mississinewa didn't win by 50 because it was 35-0 at the half which resulted in a running clock the entire second half.  Mississinewa never played their first string offense the second half and only played their first string defense part of the 3rd quarter until Norwell pulled their starting offense.

In 6A, I don't get how Lake Central is receiving votes.  Also, Center Grove is ranked too low and Carmel is ranked too high.

It was a typo. They meant to put Penn as the team with 2 votes but somehow that autocorrected to Lake Central... 😂

How is Lake Central getting nods before us!?! 

I am sorry Lake Central has not had a winning season since 2014...How?

Ha! That one isn't a typo from the Facebook source I copied from. That is exactly how it's showing on JH's site as well. What's wild is that vast difference between the AP and IFCA polls in 2A this week. These are all the teams and where they are ranked in each:

#5 Brownstown Central, #7 Triton Central, #12 Bluffton, #13 Rochester, #14 Alexandria, #16 Centerville, #16 Paoli, #18 Monrovia - all teams receiving votes (including two RANKED) that received not a single vote in the IFCA poll.

My best guess is one of those Heritage Christian spots is supposed to be iether Brownstown Central or Triton Central.

I'm as perplexed as you are @BLACKGOLD2007! That's why the only thing I could think of was someone "mistyped." Makes no sense to me. Congrats to Penn on a nice start to the season against a deserving state ranked opponent. Hopefully the rankings will be revised after this week.

After one week, everyone is pretty much guessing anyway.  Polls won't really be credible under halfway through the season.

Well, the highest I expect Penn to get in the rankings is 10, even if they are undefeated. Their schedule after week 2 is put on auto pilot. I think after the rematch with CP, we will know if this Penn team is for real or not. Obviously if they lose that answers the question.

I would say it is much closer to accurate than what we have seen in the coaches and media polls for sure.

Fans on this forum are focused on one thing: High school football. Throw the coaches poll out the window. I doubt coaches have time to do the research needed to come up with an accurate poll. Out the window with media polls. They have their hands in too many pots and are typically biased toward their region. The GID poll is the only one that matters.

Even if that is a typo, a team gets 2 votes for beating a top 5 team in 5A, and that team is still ranked in top 5.  Still a head scratcher.

For the sake of conversation, where would you have liked to see Penn ranked in this poll? My answer is I could see them at 10 or 11 (Most Others Receiving votes total). Snider shouldn't be "punished" too harshly for losing to a top 5 6A team but neither should Penn for beating a top 5 5A team. 

If the 10-13 was Lawrence North, Penn, Snider, Noblesville OR Penn, Lawrence North, Snider, and Noblesville, we're PROBABLY (can't say for certain) not even having this conversation.

LOL. Good question, I would say right now the #10 team and the others receiving votes are probably interchangeable. Maybe Valpo should have dropped more ??
