Concordia at Snider

Dwenger at North Side

Northrop at Luers

South Side at Carroll

Wayne at Homestead

Dwenger 24 - North Side 14 - Saints showed me something playing Moeller tight until the 4th quarter. This is a must win for them or the season will spiral out of control. North got rocked to sleep on Friday/Saturday by another mean Indy team

Luers 49 - Northrop 28 - Knights get a defensively challenged Bruins team who do have some offense this year, but Luers too much in this one

Carroll 56 - South Side 7 - Chargers recover after facing the Indy juggernauts and happily welcome South to Charger field. Frustrations will be taken out in this one

Wayne 28 - Homestead 17 - Generals go to 3-0 against a disappointing Spartan team. What a beat down Sparty took from Noblesville

Snider 49 - Concordia 6 - Panthers offense started to show some life against East Noble. Cadets 2-0 start is surprising, but the big step up in competition will prove to be too much

Concordia at Snider - Cadets are looking good so far, but Snider will be too much. Panthers by 21

Dwenger at North Side - This should be a good game. The Saints just took on Indiana's best team and the third best team in Ohio. They got beat soundly by both, but weren't totally embarrassed. Could Dwenger be a threat in 4A? If they win this game, 4A better take notice, because North Side is closer to where they were in 2022 than where they were in 2023. Dwenger by 7

Northop at Luers - Northrop's offense vs Luers defense. I still think defense wins championships, so............Luers by 3

South Side at Carroll - South is improved, but Carroll is still Carroll. The Archers put up a fight. Chargers by 21

Wayne at Homestead - It's hard to get a read on where Wayne is right now. I'm not convinced that a close win over Attucks is a good win, nor am I sure about the 7pt lead they had against a Riley team I don't know much about. Homestead got wasted, again, by their Indy foes, but seem to bounce back when they play SAC teams that they're more familiar with. Spartans by 7

Concordia at Snider...seeing the stat that this is Concordia's first 2-0 start in 40 years was shocking to me, awesome to see them turn the corner. Unfortunately for them this will be a good week for the Snider offense to continue to find its rhythm...Panthers by 28

Dwenger at North Side...this is where I will be Friday Night. Saints looked much better for a majority of the game against Moeller, just wore down at the end. QB injury makes this one more iffy. North has more talent, but I think it will come down to which team can stay disciplined, where BD has a slight edge, and special teams, where the Saints are much stronger...Dwenger by 2

Northop at Luers...Bruins can put up a lot of points. But think the Knights D can slow that down, and Bruins have shown no defensive ability...Knights by 10

South Side at Carroll...Carroll didn't care about running up last year, they'll do it again this week...Chargers by 50

Wayne at Homestead...two teams I have no idea what to make of, and I'm not sure if this game will give me a better idea about either. Picking the home team...Spartans by 7

Anything on the Wayne/Riley game?

Canceled with Wayne up 14-7. Seemed like a pretty evenly matched game.

Has this been published as the outcome via the IHSAA?  Or just what happened Friday/Saturday?

Link please.....

Don't have a link, I was following the game on Summitcitysports.com live while it was happening. I wanna say the game was canceled sometime in the third quarter. The game might have been tied 7-7 at the half. It seemed tight all the way up until it was canceled. Don't have anymore than that.

I think we ALL have that limited amount of information.

The 'association' said a decision would be announced on Tuesday.   I assumed that it would be beyond that which happened Friday night.

Remember,  Wayne said they would finish the contest either at home OR at Riley.

Both options were not acceptable to SB Riley to obtain an complete contest.

Interesting.

Gotta hand it to East Noble. Down 21-10. Drive back to Kendallville at 10:30pm, back in Fort Wayne by 9am the next morning to finish a game they probably knew was a longshot at winning.

Ok, East Noble is a 30 minute drive at most to Fort Wayne. Pretty much the same deal for Snider. Both team’s probably had to be at their school by 7:30am to bus to the game. Don’t forget, EVERY Snider game is a road game for them…

My comment really had nothing to do with Snider, more about why Riley chose to cancel their game with Wayne.

To be fair though, Kendallville is 30 minutes to most of the northern part of Fort Wayne. Forty minutes to downtown (North Side High School). Snider's right down the street from North Side.

I just think that Wayne got HOSED by offering all possible opportunities to finish the contest.

I am fully aware of the shortage of officials....but I honestly think that "5 guys" (not the restaurant) could have been cobbled to do the remainder of the game.

Dwenger at North Side - TOugh one to call, I think Saints are getting better, North has talent but lack team effort. I take North by 6

Northrop at Luers - Luers by 10

South Side at Carroll - Carroll by 20 at least

Wayne at Homestead - Wayne in upset, win by 13

I was told by folks in the know that Dwenger was WAY down.

Yeah, I was one of those guys. Dwenger is down, still think they are looking at 4-5 or 3-6. I watched a little of the Dwenger/Moeller game and I was not real impressed with Moeller as it was 21-18 late in the 3rd quarter. Having said that EC is down quite a bit from the previous couple years. Not sure what you can read into those results

@BTF:  Tell me how Dwenger plays Moeller rougher than East Central.

Going into this season we knew that East Central was losing a lot of players from a season ago, which is why I was never ready to anoint them as the team to beat in 5A. I believe I had them at #5 to start the season. Bishop Dwenger went through a mediocre stretch of two years in which they posted a 12-10 record, a winning record nonetheless. What we forget is that they were 35-5 the three years prior. So that's been the story of Jason Garrett's 5 year era. Snider went 12-8 during the 2019 & 2020 season and many on this forum were also saying that the Panthers best days were behind them. So.............maybe Dwenger is still Dwenger? Personally, I don't have any answers, so for me it's a 'wait and see.' Check out this link for some pretty good highlights against Moeller.
