A bunch of people on here during the week of the Chatard game. I mean, NP played a decent Kokomo team in Week 1 and then played the 5A state champs in Week 2 (and, thanks to an official spotting lightning bouncing around in the clouds from a storm two counties away, was never completed). Their conference is an above-average 4A conference, and they hammered a ranked Greenfield-Central team in conference play. So they didn't play Westfield this year ... or Center Grove (both teams NP has played recently). Next year, NP's schedule will be the exact same as it is now - Kokomo, Decatur Central and then the HHC schedule. Quote

Not to nitpick but in rereading that Regional thread I saw only TWO posters who were critical of New Pal’s schedule strength. One was @Just a dad (a Chatard fan) and the other, quite ironically, was @BTF….unless “two” constitutes “a bunch” these days. With that, the rest of us associated with Chatard have nothing but admiration for what New Pal’s accomplishments have been over the last 10 years and had (and continue to have) nothing but respect for the program. The Dragons had long dispelled the strength of schedule canard with their incredible successes these last 10 years. Once again, congrats to New Pal for their success and for representing the South so well. Honestly, I think many of us from Chatard will truly miss not having another chance at the Dragon’s next year….it was one of the most exciting games I’ve witnessed in person in years. Best wishes going forward and, again,….congrats on an amazing season! Quote

My critisism of New Pal's strength of schedule was mostly due to my debate with Temptation as to whether or not they were a Top 10 team. It had far less to do with New Pal winning 4A. Quote

Your boys from Snider seem to be the only exception. New Pal/Chatard WAS the state title game in 4A. Edited December 1, 2024 by temptation 1 1 Quote

New Pal/Chatard WAS the state title game in 4A. No, we cannot agree on that. That would have backfired last year in the 5A title game. In 2A this season, Adams Central dominated the team that beat the Indy school. I watched the New Pal/Chatard game. How that game went to overtime was beyond me. I felt the whole way that the Dragons were the better team. I was rooting for Chatard. I sincerely felt that would be East Noble's easier path to becoming champions. At least the Knights gave New Pal an "oh shit" moment in the opening moments. I forgot all about the "Crown Point running the clock" comment. It was more to garner a reaction. I still have Crown Point beating New Pal, but I was very impressed with the Dragons. I have them ranked #11 overall, which is a compliment in my opinion. Edited December 1, 2024 by BTF Quote

In 6A, the north just didn't have very good representation. Quote

But I've said it all season long and I stand by it.........6A is a different beast. If it makes you happy, nine of the ten teams I have in front of them are from the Indy Metro. 2. As strong as 6A teams are, they couldn't have been underrated by much. Pissed? Nah, it's all subjective. Hurry up and post your Top 25. I've been waiting to compare mine (already completed) to yours. I just find it amusing that the Dragons are still doubted due to SOS. They cannot control their conference. But neither could Columbus East or East Central. Just always seems to be thrown out there. 5 out of the last 12 years, they have played for the state championship despite their "weak schedule". For the record this year, the Dragons scheduled Kokomo and the eventual 5A champs in Decatur Central. Not really sure what more they can do. HHC was definitely down this year, but the last few years Mt. Vernon and Greenfield have both been ranked, and Mt. Vernon won a state championship. We are losing a weak sister in Shelbyville from the conference, and I would not be surprised if Yorktown, Delta, and New Castle aren't far behind. I just like to point out that it doesn't matter. Coach Ralph has them ready to play. As for the game vs Chatard being the state championship, that was 100% correct, and several of us said it at the time. Quote

The good news is you’ll get to hear it all over again next year when you play Cathedral in the playoffs (already looking forward to this and will be a New Pal fan that night). Congrats again on a perfect season and a perfect, state championship-caliber schedule! 2 Quote

Not to take anything away from Linton-Stockton because they earned a hard fought 40-28 victory over Lutheran. What was lost in the shuffle was Lutheran's Senior QB Jackson Willis was injured in Sectional Championship game against Monrovia. He suffered a broken hand which ended his Senior season. Lutheran was able to beat Lapel 35-0 without him, but they had nothing for Linton in Semi-State. I would imagine having Willis who threw for 2,633 yards 39 TD's and 3 Int's would have certainly helped their chances against Linton and possibly another State Title game against Adams Central. J. Willis was 13 of 18 for 241 yds 4 TD's 0 Int's against Adams Central in 2023 and 17 of 19 for 279 yds 4 TD's 0 Int's in 2022. Quote

But at the end of the day, only Adams Central will be remembered. No one remembers Snider's 81' (minus quarterback), 86' (minus quarterback), and 04' (minus running back). So yeah, I get it. I was honestly wondering what happened to Lutheran, so thanks for that bit of information. Quote

I think their chances would have been better because losing a QB 2600 39 TD QB in an offense built for the spread is a big blow, but the woulda coulda shoulda game doesn't work. I just wasn't sure if you were aware of it and regardless Adams Central played VERY well. Quote

Injuries are rough and, like college, depth is a major component when making long runs in the tournament. That's why I always implore the importance of getting second stringers into the game as early as possible. That time on the field is valuable. State titles don't care anything about margin of victory on the way to get there. I was pretty stoked for the Adams County community. Fourth time was a charm. Way too good of a program to not have a recent state title to their credit. Quote

They come out of the woodwork every time NP faces a "tough" team and conveniently forget New Pal's non-conference opponents during the Ralph era have pretty much all been to LOS in the last decade (Danville, Lawrenceburg, Whiteland, Center Grove, Westfield, Decatur Central, Kokomo). Only Richmond - who NP dropped after the 2017 season - hasn't been downtown. Much respect for Chatard. That was the game of the tournament this year (and the 2013 game was a great one, as well). Great program that does things the right way and is a measuring stick for the 3A-4A programs in Central Indiana. Quote
