Probably old news to all ND fans, but just saw the other day that Larry Fitzgerald's son committed to Notre Dame. The man still has one of the coolest statistics in all of sports. More tackles in his NFL career than dropped passes. Just amazing, can't wait to see what his son does at ND in the coming years.

Notre Dame needs to play seriously in both halves, not just the 2nd one!  Maybe they took the 'Canes a bit lightly.

Oh well, on to the home opener with Texas A&M.  I just listened to Coach Freeman's presser and he didn't back down from the fact that they have to play 60 and not 30 minutes.

The Irish were in command and then all of a sudden they aren't!  They can't stop the A&M offense at all!  It just seems they can't play a full 60 minutes so far.  The playoffs start tonight for the Irish!

Bad injury for an A&M player.  They're actually bringing an ambulance onto the field.  This is sad!

Injured player was able to give a thumbs up as he was taken from the field.  Great sign!

Irish down 28-24 at halftime!  Lots to get straightened out at halftime by the Irish coaches.

Correction.  They did not bring an ambulance on the field.

Two weeks to practice and prepare and this is the shit show you come up with Irish? I cannot remember a game that started so well and went to shit so quickly. Just a horrible game plan, especially on defense.

A much deserved Irish loss!  41-40 is the score and the Irish missed an extra point on their last TD and A&M scored with 13 seconds left and kicked the extra point.  The officials did miss an obvious hold on the winning 4th down play.  In fact the Notre Dame rusher was tackled, but no call.

Two weeks to prepare for this game and the defense gives 'em 41!

Correction.  They did not bring an ambulance on the field.  

They brought it down the ramp to near the field, and then they transported the injured player on a cart to the ambulance than was in the stadium.

Can't say I'm a fan of this new defensive coordinator. If I remember correctly, his resume wasn't even that impressive. What has he done to justify his salary? Don't feel like looking it up if you know off the top of your head.

If someone had told me before the season started that our redshirt freshman led offense would score 64 pts. against 2 quality opponents, I’d have thought us a lock for 2-0. This defense is supposed to be elite. I guess we are finding out just how good a DC Al Golden was.

40 should be a winning score in 99% of football games, well that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it should be enough.  There was absolutely no pass rush that I remember in the entire game.  Give any passer time and they'll find an open receiver.  I have already deleted that game.  I didn't have the stomach to watch it again.

that's on the head coach...its his job to staff his team.  Will be interesting to see if it improves and it should against the upcoming schedule.  In fairness, 2 tough games to start off the season and they both came down to the wire.

Agree. His resume just doesn't pop off the charts to me.

Anyone doubting whether a 10-2 ND team (totally possible with the remaining schedule) would get into the playoff is kidding themselves.

Ranked #24 in the latest poll. I have a hard time believing they won't shoot up 12 spots if they win their next ten games. At the end of they day, my second and third favorite teams right now are Miami and A&M.

Easily.  If you can come back from a week 3 loss to NIU and comfortably make the playoff, you can easily bounce back from two early season close losses against solid opponents.

Freeman will have to do his best coaching ever however.

Agree 100%.  Looks like USC just climbed into the top 25, and is currently the only ranked game on the schedule at this time.  Helps to have the Trojans at home.  But there is also a number of tough trip up games to include Syracuse (also at home), Arkansas,  (tough road game) and BC. (an interesting road game...Catholic Bowl)  The game against Navy could also be interesting this year.  Freeman and staff will need to be at their best.

they are in a position not only to win, but win big.  My guess is that they will not take much mercy on Purdue.
