Coach Nowlin Posted November 18, 2025 Posted November 18, 2025 I was thinking BEARS in round 1 for LOVE however, drafting 14-32 area, (yeah I said it) , don't think he will be there and we really need to continue to beef up DL/LB/S/DE/OL. Love him though, really good running back Question for the Domers ( said with love) does #34 come out this year? Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted November 18, 2025 Posted November 18, 2025 also: Haven't watched Jags at all. Jack Kiser? See he only had stats for 3 games so far, has been healthy scratches ? Injured? Quote

The one thing this era of college sports has done, is give the kids coming out some leverage. Not sure if it is up to the pro leagues to do this, but hockey and baseball can draft players who still play on the collegiate level. Last I remember, MLB has a 3 year requirement for players who go the college path. The NHL retains the rights to a player for 4 years. If a player stays all 4 years, they can renegotiate, or a team can release them to be a free agent. Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted November 18, 2025 Posted November 18, 2025 Could you imagine NFL front offices and coaches all up in the business of college if they had that....they are so protective of their assets, they will be going nuts if colleges are mis using in their view their asset Quote

That said, the other leagues I mentioned are pretty much hands off with their players in college. 1 Quote

I think you’re almost always coming out early if you’re the number one QB, but it’s easy to come up with a set of facts that would suggest staying one more year. It’s hard to see the incentive for either party to the NFL CBA to negotiate the draft eligibility age down to 18. Quote

Why wouldn't he go, especially if projected as one of the first 3 QB's taken? (assuming first round) I did notice on his LinkedIn profile, he has his BS in Business from Cal and is working on his MBA at IU. It states his MBA through Dec 2026, which is a tad interesting. https://www.linkedin.com/in/fernando-mendoza-berkeley/ Quote

I wouldn't think much of that. But if IU falls short of goals, and money will be there, perhaps, but it all depends on depth of QB class coming out and from my eyes, its weak QB class 1 Quote
Irishman Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 I think with most players in similar spots, it depends on where they are projected. Some teams seem to be ones to avoid. 🙂 Quote
Bobref Posted November 20, 2025 Author Posted November 20, 2025 Happy 58th birthday to the single greatest game-changer I ever saw in college football, “Rocket” Ismail. I will be eternally grateful that I got to see the expression on Bo Schembechler’s face when he ran that second kickoff back against Michigan in 1989. Wish I could find that on video. 3 Quote

Bobref Posted November 21, 2025 Author Posted November 21, 2025 This is the block that negated Rocket’s last minute punt return TD in the 1991 Orange Bowl against Colorado. You judge for yourself whether it’s a block in the back, or a side block. Without this flag, Irish win the National Championship. If you watch the video clip, it’s really, really close. 1 Quote

I'm just relaying what happened. The Irish are a 35 point favorite against Syracuse tomorrow. That's about as big a spread as I can ever remember. I realize that the Orange are down to their 3rd string QB. I was hoping to see Angeli play in this one. Quote
PHJIrish Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 Irish are p 21-0 and the offense hasn't seen the field yet. Two pick sixes and a blocked punt returned for a TD. 9 minutes left in the first quarter. Quote

PHJIrish Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 70-7 final. Again, Syracuse scored with 6 seconds to play. It was good to see them come away with something. 2 Quote

Never like to see a team hit while they're already down, but ND did play their backups in the second half. 2 Quote
