23andCounting Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 Miami played with a chip on their shoulder today, desperately trying to keep up with Notre Dame. Can't they play this good every week? Not sure I trust this team. Losses to Louisville and SMU are telling. Quote

23andCounting Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 For what it's worth, betting odds and Sagarin have the Top 11 in almost the exact same order with ND coming in at #2 in Sagarin and #4 betting odds. Sagarin likes Utah at 12, betting odds prefer BYU. Hard to ignore those metrics for the Irish if you're the committee. Betting odds: 1. Ohio State, 2. Indiana, 3. Georgia, 4. Notre Dame, 4. Oregon, 6. Texas Tech, 7. Alabama, 7. Texas A&M, 9. Ole Miss, 10. Oklahoma, 11. Miami. After this the odds go way down for all teams. 12. BYU Quote

PHJIrish Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 I guess I won't be watchin' the Irish in a Bowl Game: Notre Dame joins Iowa State and Kansas State in declining bowl bids No further comment from me on this. The system that allows JMU and Tulane to play for a chance at the national championship is flawed, unmercifully! That's all, folks! Quote

And Bama gets blown out by a 5-7 Florida State team and then Boat raced by Georgia in the SEC championship . They don't even drop a spot. Every other team that lost it's conference championship dropped besides Bama . SEC bias is real . Quote

No disagreement but Bama’s resume was still superior to ND’s…by a wide margin. 1 Quote

Notre Dame did not lose to an unranked team . Bama did and so did Miami twice . I guess Bama playing LA Monroe and Eastern , IL helped them. Look what ND did to Arkansas , no other SEC did that to Razorbacks . ND lost to 2 highly ranked teams by a combined 4 points , while playing with a Freshman QB making his first college starts . And no 3 loss team should ever be in the playoff period . 2 Quote

The committee sent a clear message that quality wins are weighted heavier than bad losses. Now, we can have that debate if you wish. Anybody else remember 2023 when #1 Georgia lost by 3 in the SEC title game and fell to 6th? Did they whine and complain? Did they opt out? Nope. They went to the Orange Bowl and won by 60. Quote

Not worth the risk of injuries . 1 Quote

If the handful of players that truly have NFL potential in the upcoming draft wish to sit out, so be it. But a reminder that the vast majority of the roster is not seniors and/or seniors that most likely are not moving on to the NFL. Let them have their last moment in a bowl game and use the practice time to develop key people for next year's team. Glad to see many other bowls filling up with teams and good matchups. Just saw the Big 10 bowls and I am eager to see some of these games, especially against other SEC teams. Quote

If the committee didn't take head to head matchup into consideration, perhaps as a key tiebreaker, what is the point of playing each other? Bottom line, had ND pretty much not trailed the entire game against Miami and lost at the end, they would be in. I really like ND and wish they were in the playoffs...but with the way the schedule worked out this year with SOS, they had little margin for error. And they lost the matchup against the team they were in contention with for the playoffs. They did control their destiny. Moving to a conference (and I strong one) will help them for the future. Allow whomever wants to sit out to do so, collect your check and play the young guys while gearing up for 2026. Loser's mentality. Quote

Has nothing to do with Miami . It has everything to do with Alabama getting blown out by 5-7 Florida State and then Blown out again in the SEC championship game . Both ND and Miami should be in .
