This is so misguided and soft.  Allow whomever wants to sit out to do so, collect your check and play the young guys while gearing up for 2026.

Loser's mentality.

Wouldn't expect anything less from a Wolverqueen fan .

Has nothing to do with Miami . It has everything to do with Alabama getting blown out by 5-7 Florida State and then Blown out again in the SEC championship game  . Both ND and Miami should be in .

do you think SMU should of been dropped last year?

Now if you want to complain about the process, then have at it, but the resumes of BYU (better than ND) and Vandy ( on par with ND) also have just as much to complain about then ND does.

If Pop Tart or Music Bowl came to ND with a tier system set up to pay the ND team:  Starters get 75K,  2 Deep get 25k, rest of roster 10K, does that move the needle?

Not about the money . If it were , ND would be playing in a bowl game .

OH BUT IT IS SO SO SO MUCH

About the Money

Players have more say these days, and if you tell every starter and 2 deep guy they are going to get paid X amount of money to play in Bowl game.......then why say no?

I remember when I was in middle school too...sick burn.

Maybe if ND hadn't cancelled the series with the "WolverQUEENS" they'd have another quality win under their belt this year and would be playing in two weeks...

Yes it is about the money. Here is a different take. The bowl game would be shown on what network? The same network that owns the SEC network. The same network that was a major player in a push to keep you out of the playoff. The network that would benefit financially from having the top program not in the playoff in a bowl game shown on their network.

Just learning too, the ACC Network played the ND Miami game on loop all weekend. Who owns the ACC network?

Look for a change with Notre Dame’s relationship with the ACC. I am not sure there has ever been such a lobbying effort from so many angles to keep a team out of the playoff.

Yet they put two G5 teams in...lol.

Reading a fanbase whose team has its OWN network whining about biased networks is not a place I thought we'd be in 2025, yet here we are.

Missed the point I see. They had to have 5 conference champions in. The ACC screws themselves with their conference schedule and they find out their only real chance to get a playoff team is with Miami, and make Notre Dame the target to be excluded.

I am not really bitching about the playoff here. They let the A&M game get away. I said after that game they would struggle to get back to a playoff spot. My point is ESPN and the other players in lobbying efforts now want them to play in a bowl game they make money on? Every announcer was talking about Notre Dame not belonging. It was only after the fact that Nick Saban said they deserved to be in. But again, the point of my post was there is plenty of reasons to not play the bowl game.
I said it two seasons ago, the bowl games will become a thing of the past in the current playoff format, a format that will expand next season taking at least 4 more teams out of a pool of potential teams.

ND’s AD is just an absolute loser. The sense of entitlement and tone deafness is astounding. Why wouldn’t the ACC push for a full-member participant who beat ND head to head.

Better call Tony Petiti before it’s too late.

Ok, but it’s the combination of what ESPN and the ACC did. They played the ND Miami game on loop all weekend on the ACC Network, an ESPN owned network.

Are you shocked that the ACC promoted their own member? One that beat ND on the field. I don’t understand the issue?

Promote your own member, but the conference and their members make a boatload off of playing the Irish. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

Beating Michigan this year is like beating Stanford .

The ACC wouldn’t have gotten a dime from Notre Dame had they made the playoff. They didn’t last year either.

Notre Dame had one win vs. a top 25 team all year, went 0-2 vs. CFP teams, and played a cupcake schedule. Not hard to see. The Irish want in based on their name quality, not their play against a good schedule. Had they beat A&M or Miami, they would have easily made it.

The Irish have had their own network for at least 20 years, NBC. The real issue is they aren’t part of a conference. Join a damn conference. Think they fit best in the Big 10, but pick one. Quit being a money grubbing hog and not wanting to share money and go win on the field.

Not my point at all. And I am fully aware the ACC would get nothing for that.  I am talking about regular season games. Playing the Irish does a lot of good for the ACC teams  they play each season as well as the conference.

Ok maybe I exaggerated a bit. Beating Michigan this year would of been like Pittsburgh . How's that ?

Apparently there’s a “Memorandum of Understanding” between ND and the CFP Committee that takes effect next year, assuring ND of a playoff berth if they are ranked in the top 12 by the Committee. If the field goes to 14, they need to finish in the top 13. If it goes to more than that, all bets are off.

https://www.on3.com/news/pete-bevacqua-reveals-notre-dame-is-assured-of-cfp-berth-in-2026-if-irish-are-ranked-in-top-12/

I wonder why we’re just learning of this now. My speculation is it was supposed to be a secret, but when Pete Bevacqua felt that the Committee screwed ND, that went out the window. I think the way this has shaken out has created some hard feelings that won’t go away anytime soon.

You can eyeroll all you want , Michigan got boat raced by USC and barely survived Northwestern and Purdue .

Notre Dame created this narrative by refusing to be in a conference. They negotiated “special circumstances “ to get preferred placement starting in 2026. Play in a conference and let’s go
