Lost to A&M by 1 point when they were playing their worst. A&M beat LSU by 24 points. Beat Missouri by 21 points. There was a time when I feared the SEC as a Notre Dame fan. There's not one team in the SEC that I would take over Notre Dame in a bet. It's widely accepted that Notre Dame is better right now than they were when they rolled through Penn State and Georgia en route to the 2024 title game.

Arkansas:

Lost to Ole Miss by 6

Lost to Tennessee by 3

Lost to A&M by 3

Lost to LSU by 1

Lost to Texas by 15

Lost to Notre Dame by 42 - this is really hard to ignore.

Spin it how you want, Notre Dame is the best team in the SEC.

It's how they are beating teams. Transitive property is important except for when it applies to Notre Dame. Do the Irish worry you and your Hoosiers?

Just sharing a funny from X....I am not a ND hater...just the opposite actually.

The arguments against Notre Dame on here are weak. I think you guys will look more credible if try to be objective.

What is not objective about head to head? Miami and ND are both 10-2. Miami beat ND on the field. What are we even doing?

Because the committee has made it clear. Eye test and how you are playing now, not three months ago, matters. There's no way the committee is excluding one of the best teams in the country.

Notre Dame hasn’t played anybody in 2 months lol. Of course they look good.

And you better hope Texas Tech beats BYU or Notre Dame and Miami are both out.

So far today (knock on wood), things have gone about as well as they could for the Irish. Boise State won handily, which will improve ND’s SOR and SOS. Texas Tech won, so BYU is out. And Georgia is making Alabama look bad. Don’t know what more we could ask for in the way of help.

In 1993? There were no playoffs nor designate title games. People voted on champions. Different era.

Not entirely true. The Bowl Coalition was in its 2nd year and tried getting 1-2 matchups in a rotating bowl that would serve as the championship game, along with the other highest ranked teams. FSU was ranked 1st in the AP and 3rd in the coaches' poll. Nebraska was ranked 2nd in the AP and 1st in the coaches' poll. So FSU and Nebraska were matched up in the Orange Bowl, the designated championship game for that season. Interestingly, the team that got screwed just as much as the Irish was West Virginia. They were ranked 2nd, ahead of FSU in the coaches' poll. After the bowls were done, FSU was ranked 1st with Notre Dame ranked 2nd.

If only they had the balls to play 5 games a year against the SEC or Big 10 instead of the ACC…

Was Notre Dame offered a deal from the SEC when they committed to five games against the ACC?

Notre Dame went to the weakest conference out there. Every conference offered a spot to ND, but they wanted to be independent and the ACC wanted them so bad they gave them the 5 games against deal. What a joke!!! Play for a conference that has no teams in the Midwest…

The ACC sure isn't the weakest in basketball and other sports.  Hate all you want.  It doesn't really matter.

Be honest, Notre Dame cares about football, first and foremost

And that's why they were 10-2 and the two losses were by 4 total points that teams were rated in the top five early in the season.  No one, other than IU and tOSU, want to see Notre Dame on the other side of the line, if the Irish are graciously granted a spot in the CFP's!

Their brand in the Midwest is stronger than anywhere else in the country. They went after the East Coast.

🤣

I’ve seen the Irish pack a stadium in Baltimore 30 years ago. They have a national brand and everyone knows it. ND went to a conference that weakly allowed their main focus to stay independent with their NBC contract. Pure and simple. ND better pray the ACC never folds because the Big 10 and SEC would never allow this scenario.
