@Bash Riprock

Who's smoking Cignetti? I think most of the Notre Dame fans on here have been pretty gracious toward IU.

Curious. What does ESPN being in bed with the SEC have to do with some of their commentary favoring Notre Dame? Last I checked, it was the network that's in bed with the SEC. Guys like Herbstreit, Barkley, and Saban are allowed to have an opinion.

Again, I don't get on Twitter, so I don't know what some random ND fans are saying about other programs. I worry about my own life and use this forum as an outlet to discuss football. You have to admit though, some of your reposts are geared toward playing on others emotions and reeling them in.

Most ND fans are gracious about IU on GID....pretty small population.  X and Instagram increases the national sample size considerably.

Herbtreit and Saban are the big faces for ESPN college football.  I am just saying you've been dogging ESPN hard as influencing the CFP committee, but then quote the ESPN CFB biggest names if they align with your views.

To you last point...I think anyone plays on your emotions if they challenge your views and perhaps disagree.  On this entire ND issue, I have tried to see both sides.  I understand and don't disagree ND fan's frustrations.  But I also feel that ND is not a victim and would have put this issue to rest by not going 1-3 against ranked teams.  Good news...with their new agreement and most likely a 16 team playoff next year, don't see this issue arising next in the future with a 10-2 ND team.

BTW, some awful good information out there on X about CFB and NFL if one follows the right sources.  Give it a try!!

Not all things. I fixed that for ya. It really amazes me that people get so butthurt when someone corrects their spelling. I guess it's part of the dumbing down of America.

Yet you tagged ME in the comment. Still confusing.

Just asking if I did it correctly that is all

Why be so selective ?  You're either the all in or all out guy on forum spelling?   What make you determine what and who to correct in this realm vs others?    That's why I asked if I corrected 23 correctly to your standards because I noticed after random 2 weeks, and after you had already responded (hidden) you decided to make a post correcting the spelling of Kirschner ......   But didn't on the initial response..... but then 2 weeks later, just found it interesting, so when I saw an opportunity for one of our members to be corrected as it's not Twitter no more, but X, I was seeking your approval If I did that correctly.

I am not "butthurt:"  which for me personally is such a garbage phrase, but I also do not use R word in my life either amongst other words but hey I digress ...........

Hope that unconfused you sir

SO, @23andCounting  I apologize if I missed it, however, do you have a spot in your mind where you think ND should be placed when all said and done?

I noticed the comment I made a couple of weeks ago on that thread had been deleted.

Take it up with @Irishman

However, still, didn't answer why the initial response was not to correct that spelling error, but waited 2 weeks to do it and what makes you decide who and what to correct, see how it can be confusing, so that is why I asked if I did it correctly

Nah, @Irishman knows when to delete my posts. I'd say most of 'em that got deleted certainly deserved to be. He's good. Sometimes I even tell him he should probably delete one.

I don't recall when the last time I corrected you was, several years if at all? I suppose you could delete any comment I make that contains a correction. You're the boss. I might not even notice for weeks it got deleted.

100% coach....what some people don't understand that perhaps the "dumbing down of America" is thinking one has the resume and credibility in the first place to correct others.  They simply cannot stay in their lane, and most importantly see the bigger picture of intrepreting the message itself vs was every word spelled correctly and was each sentence grammatically correct.  When it comes to the latter, guessing an excellent english teacher could find mistakes with ALL of our posts from time to time.  I think there is a segment of the population that feels more important if they seize an opportunity to "shame others" and fail to realize they shame themselves.  "My candle will burn brighter if I blow out the candle of another" type of thinking.

Its simply "perposterus".......

nope just wondering the genesis of what dictates what some to do and what some not to do especially a random 2 week one, just interesting/curious

Since this thread has gone so far off the rails, might as well share that today we should all raise a glass in celebration of Pepe' Le Pew's 81st birthday!

Gonzo correcting my spelling was the last straw for me me. Ultimately landed him on my ignore list. No longer have to worry about it. I'll never judge a man by his spelling or his grammar. A doctor means no more to me in this life than a garbage man. Degree, no degree...........doesn't matter. Do you take care of your parents? Take care of your family? Have a job? Who gives a shit about grammar or spelling if your message is being conveyed. This is a football forum for crying out loud, not an English class.

Now, to answer your question. Where do I believe ND should be? I've gotta give credit to the teams that WERE selected and have advanced to the final four. Throw in Ohio State and I'm thinking Notre Dame sits at #6. I'm not ranking A&M ahead of Notre Dame because I think the Irish were the better team at the end of the year. I'm sure as hell not ranking Alabama or Oklahoma above Notre Dame, lol. Texas Tech, lol, nope. Maybe Georgia. But I'll stick with #6.

6 makes sense, I can see that,  I bet they land somewhere 8-11

I just think some clowns in the AP world will just do clown stuff to try to punish ND for skipping on a final poll that holds zero weight

Ok, the Irish best win was USC, who is not even in the top 15, much less the top 10. Two opportunities to beat top 10 teams, two losses. Yes, they rebounded to end the year, but really beat the weak sisters of the poor. I would concede maybe #8, but Georgia and A&M are ahead of you. Head to head means something, especially when A&M beat you in South Bend

I'll give you that, I respect your opinion.

But rankings are just for fun. I still think this team could have won it all.

Possible, but unlikely. Saying they could have won it all is clearly not based on what they did on the field or who they beat. It’s based on what you believe their potential was, which is completely an intangible. It’s not based on fact. I do always respect your opinion, but there have to be results on the field and the Irish  failed to produce them

Not saying it's fact at all, just saying that I think Notre Dame would have beaten Oklahoma by 14 in Norman then would have given IU one hell of a game. I'm with film expert Brooks Austin out of Georgia in that Notre Dame was Top 3, right behind IU and Ohio State. They were a complete team. Great defense, best run game in the country, great offensive line, very good passing attack. Good special teams. Not very many weaknesses. But hey, this is the year of the Hoosier. Congrats, and enjoy the dynasty that's in it's early stages. It'll be very hard to say Notre Dame is better than IU moving forward. Notre Dame has a Top 5 coach in my opinion. But the gap between the best coach and everyone else is wide. Indiana is the new Alabama and no one will get in the way of that.

Because oftentimes your message is not effectively being conveyed if your spelling or grammar is atrocious. Especially in a written medium like an internet message board.   Frankly it just makes you sound ignorant, no matter what kind of deep and important message you may have to share.

It pays to enrich your word power.

I don't typically judge someone for being ignorant. Probably has something to do with upbringing. Not everyone grew up in Disneyland. If I understand what you're trying to say, that's all that matters.

Either do I.  Unless it is clear they want to be that way, by personal choice.

And an individual can usually overcome any shortcomings from their upbringing, if they choose to.   I didn't grow up in "Disneyland".  I was just fortunate enough to have two loving parents that emphasized the importance of an education and hard work.

Anyway not paying attention to spelling or grammar when one posts on an internet message board usually isn't ignorance, just laziness.
