Agreed! When the day comes that Coach Moore decides to hang it up there will be high interest in the job. I think one of the top candidates who would be interested would be Coach Mallory at Lawrence North. He is part of the Moore Coaching Tree knows Moore's system very well a former assistant at CG and very familiar with the school and has done amazing things bringing LN from the bottom to the top.

Or somebody within the program…I can think of a name or 2 that they might be willing to hire.

Thought the same thing..with a few coaches getting up there, wouldnt it be wise to promote from within while keeping the guru on staff a few years to help with the transition?

Yes there are coaches currently on staff that they might be willing to hire. 2 of them didn't quite work out at other programs as HC's but they have been terrific assistants and could warrant a shot. Technically Coach Mallory would be a hire from within Moore's program just not on current staff because he left after many years as an assistant in 2011 to get a shot as a Head Coach at Knightstown then after 2 years went to Lawrence North and has done a terrific job. He just hasn't been on the current CG staff.

His 60-76 doesn't seem great to some. Those of us who saw how bad LN was when he first arrived know the leaps an bounds he has brought that program around. Those first few years were rough and now the last 2 or 3 have been a turning point.

See above. Coach Mallory is a product of Coach Moore's system.

What is the age gap? Mallory going to be around for the next 20 or 30 years? Same with officials, I am getting nervous about who will guide Indiana football into the next few decades...if its these dancing, matching outfits, running down the sidelines guys then we are in trouble. Also it takes an unselfish person to coach and officiate with families who understand the time commitments they all embark on once that decision has been made. Not saying Mallory is one of these guys, just ranting. I wonder what the average tenure is for current coaches around the state..

Coach Mal would be great.

Don't forget former CG assistant to Coach Moore and already southsider Jayson West at FC.  Has already won 3 largest class football state championships at 2 different high schools.

Coach Mallory is in his 40's I don't see him retiring from coaching anytime soon. Will he be coaching for another 20-30 years? Probably not that long unless he is looking to beat Bud Wrights tenure as a Head Coach. Coach Mal was HC at Kinghtstown for 2 years and has been at Lawrence North for the last 13 years.
