Here's another fun topic that can distract us from what's going around us. But who is the BEST team in Indiana HS Football History?

Ben Davis Twitter account posted a thread of their 1991 Team, who ended up as National Champs. https://twitter.com/BenDavisFB/status/1243172114724786179

It might be fun to talk about the best teams by individual class as well (1A-6A)

I am being lazy;    what team in the 70s or maybe 80s almost shut out the entire state ??

Reitz, I believe it was 61

Ben Davis 91, Ben Davis 17, Warren 06 are the best 3 in my opinion, with Ben Davis 01 trailing slightly behind.

I know the 1983 Penn team had a defense that gave up less than 7 a game.

As far as the best team, I would say the 2003 Warren Central team would be the best one I have seen.......with the 1984 WC team a close 2nd, of course. 😁

What about smaller classes? '18 Pioneer team w/Kizer, any of the LCC teams during their run.... Who else?

Sheridan had a couple in 1A in 1998 and then 2005-2007, Bishop Luers had many as well.

Yeah the 88 team might have them beat.

Webo in 18 & 19... Undefeated in 18, but would argue the team in 19 was more dominant.

Bombers in 2014 for class 2a really put on an offensive show

2013:  We had 13 defensive touchdown returns

2014: we had 5 safeties on the year.

I would put those dudes in 2014 up with anyone in class 1a-2a being bantered about, however, I am clearly biased, just know how darn competitive that group was.

It was a tough group and I think there are about 20 groups that could argue for their spot amongst history in the last 100 years. I love the debate here but I think it’s too broad to come up with 1 best team

I would love to see the 06 Warren Team Vs. The 17 Ben Davis team.

Calpreps says 2017 Ben Davis takes a single game match-up.

  •  Pioneer '18 35-34 LCC '09
  •  Pioneer '18 35-31 LCC '10
  •  LCC '11 35-28  Pioneer '18
  •  Pioneer '18 31-28 LCC '12
  •  LCC '15 35-31  Pioneer '18

Would definitely make for some good football.

Hard to pick between the 1997 and 1998 Jimtown teams.  I would probably lean 1998. Finishing off back to back undefeated seasons (30-0) including wins over state finalists Northwood and Concord in the regular season.  Although the 1997 team did win 63-0 in the state championship game.

Would be a good match-up. Think it would be closer that 11 points

I agree with both assessments.

I bit earlier than the 70's, Snider gave up 39 total points in 1966.
