Problem is, the EIAC has shown no interest in taking in Jennings County. I’m guessing one of their schools would have to leave first. And if anyone were to leave, my guess is it would be Rushville or Connersville. There’s been chatter of potential conference restructuring in east-central Indiana with the Hoosier Heritage Conference possibly losing New Castle, Yorktown, and Delta. The problem is, while a new conference involving those schools might be a good fit geographically for Rushville and Connersville, is it a good fit competitively?

It should also be mentioned that Harrison High School in Ohio is in need of a conference as theirs is about to cease to exist. They haven’t received any invites from Ohio conferences and have looked west to Indiana as a result. Due to their proximity to and rivalry with East Central, one would have to think the EIAC could be a possibility. My question would be why the EIAC can’t expand to ten members when they are split up into big school and small school divisions? Ten members is only a problem when there are no divisions.

I think Columbus North is the one that should be independent in football. They are 6A and would not benefit, at all, playing in the HHC.... they already play East, Floyd/CN should be a thing moving forward.. .go from there. 

Floyd should highly look into scheduling them.

Most of it. JC was a founding member of the HHC, Mr Hurley was one of the leaders at the time.

Yeah but I feel like he would understand the writing was on the wall at this point. A lot has changed in 50 years.

Just happened to speak with a couple JC families over the weekend. Their logic in the planned schedule changes move what that this was temporary. The goal was to help boost JC players confidence and their overall numbers with a more competitive schedule. Then rejoining the full HHC schedule in a few more years.  There was no indication of a plan to look to leave the HHC since they feel competitive in several other sports.  But, I guess we will see what a few years of this schedule bring and if yet changes the schools mind about a full schedule again down the road.

A former Indiana Wesleyan assistant, who has spent time at Trader's Point supposedly??? Not sure on the timetable for those stops, but his social media shows a lot of IWU posts this past season.

Last Thursday's board meeting ended with a "no candidate to vote on at this time." 

The talk around the county is that it will be Eastern Greene OC Brayden Tidd, who is a Bedford guy. A lot of current assistants are growing frustrated, starting to interview at other places for new coaching opportunities because they feel they aren't getting a fair shot. Time will tell.

Feels strange seeing this happen to BNL. From the student population to this, when did the drop-off begin?

I have a friend who was on the coaching staff the last 3 seasons…and some of the stuff he has told me about the administration is absolutely disgusting.

Would totally echo this for Lawrence County as a whole. Serious changes need to be made. 

Don't think this new "transfer portal" rule from the IHSAA starting June 1st is going to help either. Think you're a superstar? They end up at Bloomington South (Basketball and football have been hurt by this the last 3 years at BNL). Want to be a big fish in a small pond depending on the sport? Go to Mitchell, Shoals, Orleans, etc. 

Will be interesting who and when this hire is made. With girls basketball wrapped up at BNL, one would assume this is this at the top of the to-do list.

Yes. This lines up with what I heard as well. 
 

The Boys basketball coach, who they brought in 2 years ago to replace a guy they canned because of the parents (who had just won a conference title btw),  resigned today as well. 
 

pretty crazy stuff in Bedford.

I don't know if you guys heard about it,  but one of our football players passed away in a lake accident this weekend. Noah Maddox. A Junior. He was an All Conference DB. Really good kid. Pray for his family.

Dang. Feels like I’ve seen a lot of stories of high school football players dying over the last few years. Any death sucks, especially when it’s someone that should have a long life ahead of them. Hopefully the team can make a positive out of it and rally around him for a successful season.
