This is really cool thanks. When was the last time that Bosse was 1st passing and rushing. 1994 😂. Points per game is interesting for both offense and defense. I really think that’s where you see a difference in teams.

Thanks! I put lots of work into finding a lot of these stats, and it seems like a lot of SIAC people enjoy them. I’m currently working on a spreadsheet for each team, it will probably be private for a couple of weeks, but I will eventually make it public.

I think what really tells the difference...especially over time in a closed conference, is offensive yardage and defensive yardage allowed.  This obviously takes some time to put together, very cool.

Appreciate you doing this. Always interesting to read through these as the year goes on. This early it's tough, in my opinion, to judge a whole lot based on a variety of factors that come into play early in the year. Nonetheless, I still enjoy looking through these are I look ahead to who is playing each week.

So its not confirmed yet but Mater Dei has some foundation work started at the school by the football field. I heard they are going to build a 16 football bronze statue of Coach Goebel similiar to Bud Kilmer in the movie Varsity Blues to honor coach when he deciedes to retire. Can't wait to see it when it is finished.

I thought they were bowing to the pressure from North Posey and building a fieldhouse. Maybe the statute of Goebel will go on top, like William Penn on top of Philadelphia's city hall.

LOL. I meant statue. But ironically the Goebel statute is an amendment to the HS football rules in SW Indiana that allows him (and ONLY him) to be between the numbers and hash for purposes of berating the white hat without penalty.

Power Rankings- Week 3!

1. Reitz (2-0)- was battle tested last Friday and came out with a W. Need points? Sanderson seals the deal. 

2. Memorial (2-0)- 2-0 start for the first time since 2019 after beating Jasper/North back to back weeks by 17 points each. 

3. VL (1-1)Defense is pretty good, but ran into a juggernaut last weekend and couldn’t do much offensively. Can they get a rebound over MD?

4. Castle (1-1)- Ran all over the MD game, literally. Get a lot of consistency from that and this Knight team will be rising fast. 

5. Jasper(1-1)- It was a nice bounce back win from losing to Memorial. Huge match up with Reitz this week.

6. North(1-1)- Still think North will be fine, but consistency will be key for the Huskies if they want to continue to win

7. Mater Dei (1-1)- Can’t sugar coat it, but the Cats were manhandled last weekend. Do they get a rebound over VL?

8. Bosse (1-1)- Leading the Conference in Offensive, in nearly all categories. We will see how this team progresses.

9. Central (0-2)- Lots to work on for the Bears

10. Harrison (0-2)- Same boat with Central

I heard the old "Rocky" statue might be available so maybe MD can simply do a make-over on the face!?  The rest surely fits the Goebel persona, right down to the boxing gloves!

Week 3 Finals

24-7 Reitz over Jasper

28-20 VL over Mater Dei

56-0 Memorial over Central

52-42 Castle over Bosse 👀

What we learned after Week 3

Harrison at North (52-12 North)

North had a nice bounce back to beat the Warriors. I’m assuming North tan all over them the entire night. Looked like Harrison score and made it a 10 point game early on. But it was all Huskies tonight. North will travel to a big matchup against Reitz. Harrison will head to Castle. 
 

Memorial at Central (56-0 Memorial)

The Tigers dominated the entire game and score 35 points after 1.25 quarters of football. Each areas played very well on Friday. I thought Central’s QB had a nice arm when he completed, and glad to see Graham playing again. Memorial will stay at Enlow (for the next 3 games) against Catholic Rival Mater Dei. Central will head up HWY 41 to face VL.

Castle at Bosse (52-42 Castle)

Wasn’t this a game, as it went back and forth in the final minutes. Both teams had around 500+ or more total offensive yards. Bosse’s Wagner had around 500 total yards by himself against Castle. Bosse will head to Jasper and Castle will be at home against Harrison. 
 

VL at Mater Dei (28-20 VL)

Look like VL was going to pull away from the game early on, but MD rework themselves and have VL a game. However, MD had a few mistakes that would cost them. Looks like Hunt had another good night on the stat sheet rushing for 125 yards and throwing for nearly 100 yards. VL gets Harrison at home, MD heads to Enlow to face their Catholic Rival Memorial.

Reitz at Jasper (23-7 Reitz)

Similar to the VL/MD game, seemed like Reitz was looking get away early on after the 1Q. But Jasper’s D sounded like it was solid for the rest of the game, however, Reitz D was stout and again and held Jasper to 7 points. Reitz is looking like they could have an undefeated regular season again. Jasper. Stays at home against Bosse, Reitz is back at the Bowl against North in a huge matchup.
