PHJIrish Posted November 23, 2024 Author Posted November 23, 2024 Purdue is showing some life! I know, it's hard to believe. They're only down 24-17 with about 12 and a half minutes left, and they have the ball. Stay tuned. Quote
PHJIrish Posted November 23, 2024 Author Posted November 23, 2024 The Boilermakers were a dropped pass away from tying this game. They lost 24-17 but played quite well the 2nd half. Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 decent fight against a below average team ....... blah Quote

I wouldn't watch either if it wasn't for Jaron Tibbs. He actually dropped a ball that he got his hands on last Friday night. I haven't seen that from him at all. It wasn't an easy catch, but I've seen him make it numerous times. Quote

I hope he stays in West Lafayette. Wouldn't blame him one bit for hitting the portal and finding a better opportunity. Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 I think it was a little bit unprofessional of the Telecast openly suggesting PURDUE best players ie: KLARE look to the portal..... yikes Quote
PHJIrish Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 Honestly, I'm not sure the Boilers would win many games in 6A. That's one bad football team! Quote

His buyout is close to $10,000,000: https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg-doyel/2024/11/30/indiana-football-has-coach-curt-cignetti-purdue-is-stuck-with-ryan-walters-old-oaken-bucke/76674934007/ Quote Purdue needs a new football coach. Purdue needs a Curt Cignetti, is what the Boilermakers need, but Curt Cignetti coaches No. 10-ranked IU, and he’s not going anywhere. That’s terrible news for Purdue football, which has fallen so far behind the Hoosiers, the score Saturday night at snow-covered Memorial Stadium in Bloomington doesn't tell the whole story. IU's win was a 66-0 drop in the Old Oaken Bucket. Put it like this: IU scored 66 points. Purdue gained 67 yards. Or this: Indiana football is 11-1 overall. Purdue is 1-11. If it feels like the gap has never been this large in a rivalry that dates to 1891, well, consider your feelings validated. There had before never been a 10-game victory gap between the teams. There’d never been a nine-game gap, either. We’re watching history, and for Purdue it’s the kind of history that could repeat itself next season because the Boilers have almost no room to maneuver. And by that I mean, college football is now professional football — and the Boilermakers are out of money. Replacing coach Ryan Walters, the obvious next step, doesn’t feel possible for Purdue. His buyout would cost Purdue nearly $10 million, money the school doesn’t have without a massive contribution from its alumni, and its alumni would rather spend it on NIL funds for the men’s basketball program. Can you blame them? Purdue basketball coach Matt Painter wins huge. Whoever coaches Purdue, other than the exceptional Jeff Brohm, loses big. The Boilers’ downfall is historical. Like, think of Danny Hope and multiply that by Darrell Hazell. Divide it by Gerad Parker, and you’re left with the 2024 Purdue football program. And the 2025 season could be worse. ... This is bleak territory, and if you’re a Purdue fan and you’re angry about it, write a check to the Purdue athletic department. The address is 900 John R. Wooden Drive in West Lafayette. Attention: Mike Bobinski, director of athletics. ... Yep, better get out that checkbook Purdue fans. This is how "big time" college athletics work now. Quote
Komets2727 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Man, the shame Purdue fans must feel today is palpable. IU fan here, but my daughter and son in law both went to Purdue so I have some empathy. When a team quits, the coach has to go. It’s either that or you get rid of 85 scholarship players like Coach Prime attempted to do at Colorado. Just hideous Quote

Coach Nowlin Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Name you Next guay MY PREFERENCE Previous HC experience with SUCCESS, and OFFENSIVE BACKGROUND Cannot gamble on an unknown assistant AGAIN Complicates things maybe?? Bobinski retirement within the next year on the horizon.... I still have a theory that recently resigned Board Of Trustees prez, Michael Berghoff may have been one who pushed the hardest on Walters among the committee. .....then up and retires mid football season. Hmmmmmmmm Quote
PHJIrish Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 No surprise that Coach Walters got fired. You could see it coming when Notre Dame put 66 on 'em in the early season. IU's 66 point just put the exclamation point on the situation. He was totally overmatched in that capacity. Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 They never scored a TD against anyone in the 1Q the ENTIRE year against teams who play in BOWL GAMES and not an earned playoffs, aka, INDIANA ST It was just ND or IU Quote

Komets2727 Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Not really sure who will want to come to Purdue at this point. I think it is the worst job out of all the power 5 conferences. They are either going to get another inexperienced head coach, which I think they will avoid, or they will get a recycled head coach looking for one final chance. Quote

I would tend to agree, however Brohm showed you can succeed, just 2 years removed form Rep the Conf in the Title Game Interesting not to see UNLV Coach on that list Quote

Seems a little hyperbolic. It's still the Big Ten. Plenty of coached who know they aren't getting a job at a National Title contender would be interested. Find a proven leader who can schem and build culture. Shoot for a consistant 7-9 win season type of program. Quote
