  1. I was there. I guess this is a rivalry game of sorts. Winamac played like it. NJ, not so much.
  2. J.D. Bertrand is out this Saturday. It looks like true freshman Drayk Bowen from Andrean might get the start at Mike. Even if he doesn’t, he’ll likely see quality PT.

  4. FWIW, about 2/3 of the responders on the NFHS Football Officials’ FB page said it was a touchback. SMH
  5. The concept of a knee pad is that it spreads the impact forces out over a larger area, thus reducing the force that would otherwise be concentrated on any one particular area. That’s why knee pads do play a role in preventing, or lessening the severity of, ligament and meniscus injuries, albeit not as great a role as bracing.
  6. If you’re talking about the block by #58 on the intercepting team, that’s a good call. The block was right at the point of attack, and the player being blocked missed the tackle.
  7. It’s a TD. Even though the ball was not in player possession, it’s still in possession of Team A. A live ball is always in team possession. Since the ball was declared dead in B’s end zone while Team A was in possession, it’s a TD.
  8. To clarify, there was definitely contact from behind. My problem is it had no effect on the play. Illegal block in the back is not considered a safety foul, so it is only called when it has a material effect on the outcome of the play.
  9. Incomplete pass. That way you don’t have to concern yourself with that very iffy block in the back call that takes away the TD.
  10. Stole this one from the NFHS Football Officials FB page: A1 has a long unchallenged run to the B end zone. Anticipating an easy TD, A1 drops the ball prior to crossing goal line. Both teams A and B leave the field thinking the play is over. Meanwhile the ball has rolled into and come to rest in the end zone. After an appropriate amount of time, BJ blows the ball dead. What’s the call?
  11. Eagles have their work cut out for them again this week. I told you that The Pit has been a nightmare for us. They barely escaped via a last second field goal. Now they have to go to PBTS to take on a very formidable Massillon team. The Tigers didn’t even break a sweat against Elkhart last week, while the Eagles had an emotional roller coaster, come from behind, knock down drag out at Elder. Another obvious trap game for the mighty, mighty Eagles.
  12. I’m trying to imagine a scenario where phone sex would not be consensual. I mean, can’t you just hang up? 🤣
  13. School Field in South Bend is legendary. There is an adjacent building literally a few yards from the end line in one end zone. I have seen more than one official under an upright get conked by a ricochet on a PAT kick.
  14. Eagles went down 10-0, came back, and the 2nd half was a dogfight with multiple lead changes. The mighty, mighty Eagles prevail, 34-33, on a 29 yd. field goal in the closing seconds.
  15. Can you explain this play in a little more detail? Thanks.
  16. Some orthopedic surgeons would differ with you. Knee Pads – Knee injuries are among the most common traumatic football injuries. Knee pads, thus, are essential in the prevention of such injuries as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tears, and injuries to the meniscus cartilage. https://orthonc.com/your-health/play-smart-proper-protective-equipment-for-football#:~:text=Knee Pads – Knee injuries are, injuries to the meniscus cartilage.
