Hoosier Hills Conference

Also, I went to the scrimmage at Charlestown. I think FC has about 15 assistant coaches this year. I’ve never seen that many Assts before. Charlestown is a pretty good team too. They won the Sectional last year. I think a lot of teams would love to have the QB that they have. He’s good. -

I watched the Glicod show and I got the sense that their new coach seems pretty competent. He came from Male HS. Didn’t have the same vibe from some of the other new coaches I saw. I think him, Dave Papenhaus and the guy at East will improve the quality of the HHC. -

Just counted up the New Albany players. I counted 58. Looks much smaller at first glance. Still, it’s like night and day compared to the number Floyd Central has. It’s like the old saying goes. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. If you’re good at football you’re bound to have more players. If you’re bad at football you’re bound to have fewer players. -

V/JV for both teams. FC doesn’t have their freshman in the photo. That would be another 30+ players. -
I watched Charlestown vs Floyd Central scrimmage. Charlestown has a pretty good team. They’ll win a lot of games.

Is this just a varsity photo or is this New Albany’s freshmen and JV as well? -

Look at the roster difference between Floyd Central and New Albany. It’s about 2 to 1. Same size schools. - Today

It's finally football season. Will Pioneer run away with the league again or will they have challengers? Judson has the athletes to be very good this year but the biggest question on them is if they have the hosses up front. Winamac has another new coach, could he change the culture? Is this the year Triton finally gets over the hump in football? Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends……… Several good opening week matchups to see where everyone is. Pretty obvious everyone is chasing Riverton Parkes and I don’t think it’ll be close. I swear to God I don’t. The Loins have an opportunity to make a statement against Liptons and I think they will. The games……. Wabash Apaches moving to a hybrid 8-man and 11-man schedule for 2026: https://statelinesportsnetwork.net/2026/08/14/wabash-indiana-hs-to-play-both-8-man-and-11-man-football-in-2026/ Weird, dropping all your non-county and conference foes, except for one, and replacing them with 8-man games. So I guess this makes them ineligible for the IHSAA tournament?

Hmm. That’s ok. Well, I guess I’ll find out in 2 weeks. -
I don't agree with high schools going cashless however I understand why they are. Typical high school football came can have 2,000-3,000 people attend depending on the size of school and who is playing. Some schools have less that attend and others have more attend. But, if 2,000 people pay to enter the game at $7 each, that is $14,000 of cash. Then add the concession stand cash of say $3,000 or more. So the AD and/or school has to figure out a place to store perhaps $20,000 of cash until Monday when the banks open back up. Yes, they could probably deposit it that night in a drop box or on Saturday morning. But many AD's have to be at the school on Saturday for an event which would keep them from making the deposit. With there being a history of AD's and other school officials putting money in their pocket, by going cashless it keeps the AD's and other school officials from stealing money. It also makes it easier to account for all the money taken in and best thing the school doesn't have to secure $20,000 from a Friday night football game. Now, when it comes to the winter months when there are basketball games on Friday and Saturday's, the cash deposit could be in the $30,000-40,000 range just from the weekend attendance and then add the concession money. Another thing to consider is many schools pay students to take tickets/money at the gate and concessions, so by going cashless it eliminates student errors but it also takes away the education of how to count money. I would prefer to pay cash but understand totally why many schools are going cashless.
