Throw New Pal into Sectional 22 and you will most likely have your 4A South State Rep every year. Sectional 22 and 32 have to be the toughest in the state!

To think I clicked on this thread expecting to read things related to the title! 🤣 I should have known better.

Ahh I was not aware of that - I thought both had converted to the 21st century ! Are SR and VL the only schools on EASTERN time as well?? (That's honestly how they should determine sectionals...if you are on stupid....er I mean Central time - then you all get grouped together!)

Also I was thinking of this last night ...is HH the only school in our sectional field that doesn't have turf??! Can we petition the IHSAA that they not host any sectional games !?!? heheheheheh (I kid of course....sort of)

Yeah. I’m hard pressed to really disagree with you on that. The boards I’ve been a part of have generally done a pretty good job….although they can clearly be abused (and abusive). I’ve seen a lot more flaky coaches than boards as regards club sports.

Understood. Thanks. That said, it wouldn’t be the first time the thought that an IHSAA Commissioner (past or present) was full of it passed my mind.

To my knowledge there have been no Indiana HS LAX games on Sundays…at least in Central Indiana. Additionally, there is a real dearth of officials that drives what days of the week LAX is often played since these same officials are sometimes literally covering Youth all the way up to College LAX. There’s a lot of Youth and College LAX played on weekends which pushes HS games to be played M-F if possible.

Yeah, given some experience with Indiana High School Hockey, my gut is to look toward the association's board and the boards from each team more than the coaches.

MD was also 3a for the 95 and 96 postseason. Jasper played them in 95.

I’m not naive enough to believe these are all student led protests as there is obviously some financial backing taking place from somewhere but students at these “institutions of higher learning” really are showing their asses. To think these are the brightest and best and future leaders, CEO’s, etc of our country is laughable. If they understood what it was like to really be oppressed and not have basic human rights in most middle eastern countries, they’d change their tune. How about that for a pre graduate internship? A month abroad in a country with zero human rights. More learning would take place in that month than in any available 4-5 year undergraduate program.

And on almancasports.com it shows that MD and PCHS played 8 times from 1970-77, with MD taking all 8 contests. I always forget that Rudy has it all right there at the click of a button...

Did GS drop to 2A in late 1980's? Memorial played GS in 1985 as a 3A school.

I have definitely seen our program moving in this direction. It looks much less like a travel team than it did 10 years ago. I guess one drawback of being an IHSAA sport is no Sunday participation. Do some places have LAX (about all I know of the sport 🙂) games on Sunday?

….and have been hoping for it for almost 20 years. I absolutely can’t imagine them not wanting IHSAA recognition. I really find it doubtful that those involved in Indiana HS Lacrosse “took a pass” on IHSAA recognition. There are many reasons but one I’m aware of is that it likely changes the whole dynamic for the sport at a lot of public schools where they are (or were) paying small fortunes for field use…or being prohibited entirely from usage. Let alone opening up opportunities at some schools to earn a letter. it also likely changes the whole funding situation as well v. the normally high parental financial cost associated with a sport like lacrosse. In many of those cases, coaches are likely subject directly to the whims of the parents who directly fund via the club. If it’s an IHSAA sport, I’m assuming the coach is now solely subject to the school administration.

I just can’t imagine a system than involves the coaches changing the format to seeding that doesn’t say to hell with coddling bad teams. They are already voting so that they can get home field advantage if their team earns it. the idea of worrying about drive times is only a concern amongst fans from my experience. We talk until we are blue every year about 3 hour drives when every other state has games of like 6+ hours with no care at all for a team who had to have a winning record to get a playoff game….why would the ihsaa care about a 1-8 team going 2.5 hours to a top seeded team that is going to sell 5x as many tickets
