  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah, given some experience with Indiana High School Hockey, my gut is to look toward the association's board and the boards from each team more than the coaches.
  3. Yesterday
  4. It isn’t any direct knowledge I have, but it is what was shared by the IHSAA commissioner.
  5. MD was also 3a for the 95 and 96 postseason. Jasper played them in 95.
  6. I’m not naive enough to believe these are all student led protests as there is obviously some financial backing taking place from somewhere but students at these “institutions of higher learning” really are showing their asses. To think these are the brightest and best and future leaders, CEO’s, etc of our country is laughable. If they understood what it was like to really be oppressed and not have basic human rights in most middle eastern countries, they’d change their tune. How about that for a pre graduate internship? A month abroad in a country with zero human rights. More learning would take place in that month than in any available 4-5 year undergraduate program.
  7. And on almancasports.com it shows that MD and PCHS played 8 times from 1970-77, with MD taking all 8 contests. I always forget that Rudy has it all right there at the click of a button...
  8. If you’re driving past North Central to get to Warren, you’re doing it wrong. BD/Warren are slightly closer geographically than BD/North Central. Just busting your chops. I get your point.
  9. Yes. The demise of Emge probably contributed.
  10. Did GS drop to 2A in late 1980's? Memorial played GS in 1985 as a 3A school.
  11. I have definitely seen our program moving in this direction. It looks much less like a travel team than it did 10 years ago. I guess one drawback of being an IHSAA sport is no Sunday participation. Do some places have LAX (about all I know of the sport 🙂) games on Sunday?
  12. ….and have been hoping for it for almost 20 years. I absolutely can’t imagine them not wanting IHSAA recognition. I really find it doubtful that those involved in Indiana HS Lacrosse “took a pass” on IHSAA recognition. There are many reasons but one I’m aware of is that it likely changes the whole dynamic for the sport at a lot of public schools where they are (or were) paying small fortunes for field use…or being prohibited entirely from usage. Let alone opening up opportunities at some schools to earn a letter. it also likely changes the whole funding situation as well v. the normally high parental financial cost associated with a sport like lacrosse. In many of those cases, coaches are likely subject directly to the whims of the parents who directly fund via the club. If it’s an IHSAA sport, I’m assuming the coach is now solely subject to the school administration.
  13. I believe the first unofficial practices began later this month
  14. I just can’t imagine a system than involves the coaches changing the format to seeding that doesn’t say to hell with coddling bad teams. They are already voting so that they can get home field advantage if their team earns it. the idea of worrying about drive times is only a concern amongst fans from my experience. We talk until we are blue every year about 3 hour drives when every other state has games of like 6+ hours with no care at all for a team who had to have a winning record to get a playoff game….why would the ihsaa care about a 1-8 team going 2.5 hours to a top seeded team that is going to sell 5x as many tickets
  15. I would argue all four 6A North Sectionals are competitive....and can create a wide variety of intersting regional story lines. 6A South???? "Best I can do is a Round 1 BD/BB Rematch"
  16. Just throw in an extra bye and allow Southport/Perry/Tech to consolidate and play Warren in the final. Might be a competitive game.
  17. 37. (8): Christel House, Covenant Christian (Indpls), Heritage Christian, Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, Indianapolis Lutheran, Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, Monrovia, Park Tudor Monrovia the lone Public School in this Sectional, and we play 4 of them during the regular season.
  18. 87, 88. Yours truly was the GS fullback or tailback. We had them in 88 but a last second score did us in.
  19. It looks like GS played MD in 87-88-90-93-03-04-05 and 06. GS never won a game.
  20. Mater Dei was 3A for four years circa 2003-2006. I believe that was the one and only time the IHSAA tried to do a four-year enrollment classification. I think the Wildcats played both Heritage Hills and Gibson Southern a few times during those postseason‘s.
  21. I'm not sure when it was, maybe late 80"s GS played MD in the Sectional.
  22. The Central Indiana 6A Sectionals are pretty easy to make sense. I was just hoping they weren't going to reinvent the wheel. When Carmel dropped to the South, BD had to go to the Sectional with Tech, Southport and Perry Meridian. That was great for the trophy case, but it wasn't so good for those squads. Warren is in that boat now. With Cathedral up to 6A, you can't put WC in with NC, LN and LC. The one that never made sense to me was when Ben Davis had to drive past North Central to be in the Sectional on the Eastside with LN, LC and Warren. That configuration had Ben Davis playing Avon in the Semistate. Seeding is a different kettle of fish. There seems to be no desire to do that from the IHSAA.
  23. Probably so. MD and GS both caught some breaks having "success" across two different classification cycles to avoid being bumped up. Another interesting tidbit. I know Mem & SR have never played before (at least at varsity level). Are there any other schools that have never played? The ones I think might be a possibility are MD - GS and/or MD - PCHS.
  24. As chaotic as ever. Can't wait to see the matchups for Sectional 5. What a snooze fest, AmIright? 🙄😂 If you ever wanted or NEEDED reasoning to seed the BIG class, look no further than Sectional 5. There's probably a few sectionals beyond Sectional 5 that make seeding make sense for ALL classes but not sure we'll ever get there, unfortunately...
