  1. The correct call is unsportsmanlike conduct on the Iowa State coach.

  3. Twin Lakes will travel to New Prairie in 2021 then NP will come to TL in 2022. Personally I would like to see us pick up one more non conference school as others have. But it is difficult to find as we have been looking for a 2nd game out of the conference for some time.

  5. 1 community pulling the rope in the same direction, as opposed to 3 communities possibly pulling the rope in other directions.

  6. No, Boonville had the chance to join the SIAC and decided it was not in there best interest. Bosse is part of the EVSC, I doubt the AD of the EVSC wants to have schools in multiple conferences. Now I could see Gibson Southern wanting to join the SIAC and they would be able to compete in many sports but Bosse isn't leaving the SIAC.

  7. Of course not! Unlike many places, a very significant chunk of all that football money finds its way into the University’s General Fund at Notre Dame, where it’s been used, among other things, to fund lots of scholarships for kids from disadvantaged backgrounds. The Athletic Dept. does not call the shots on that stuff.

  8. Iron sharpens iron though, no? The only way for non-Indy schools to “close the gap” competitively is to schedule matchups against them. Not necessarily disagreeing with your assessment but isn’t this the ultimate surrender flag?

  9. So, one question worth asking is how supportive one might expect these schools’ administrations to be of the football program? Not sure what that situation is at LC. But at CP, their long time AD was a head football coach in the Duneland for many years. Until recently, their principal was their former head football coach of 13 yrs. They’re fully committed to supporting the program, as is the community.

  10. How about instead we make college football what it really was intended to be, and let the NFL do what the other major sports have had to do: create and fund their own minor league system? Right now, the colleges are just a training ground for the pros. Or, if you will, a great big combine or audition.

  11. I will now reveal my plan to fix college football. It’s really very simple. The problem with college football is that the concept of the “student athlete” went by the wayside quite a while ago. There are places now where the football players have about as much in common with the other students as I do with Chief Justice Roberts: We’re both lawyers from Indiana, but the similarity pretty much ends there. But how can we put the “student” back in “student athlete?” It’s so simple. Make college football success include success as a student. How? Henceforth, all conference championships, post-season bowls, playoff participation, etc., will be awarded according to “College Football Rating, derived by the application of “Bobref’s Formula.” The formula is: CFR = GW x GSR. A team’s College Football Rating (CFR) is equal to the product of games won and NCAA Graduation Success Rate. For example, this season, ND has won 10 games. Their latest GSR for the football program is 97%. This gives them a College Football Rating of 9.7. By comparison, for example, Alabama’s CFR is 8.25, Clemson’s is 7.5, and Ohio State’s is a lowly 4.68, since they’ve only played 6 games. Problem solved. FTFY. No need to thank me.

  14. Can we ever have a SAC thread that stays on topic without some outsider trying to tell us how to run our own conference.

  15. I would imagine it’s week 6. The 2020 schedules should just be a mirror (flip home/away) of the 2019 schedules. Memorial has 5 home games and at Bosse. I wish that could be flipped somehow. Have 4 home games and at Bosse in one year and 5 home games (inc. Bosse) in the other.

  16. Why invest in a Hi-Pod X31 when you can have WTHR or another news station film practice from a helicopter! 😆 Some who have been around will get it (sorry WC fans was meant in fun). Yes, he would be a great candidate for the WC job though. He did well at Pike.

  17. Cops Threaten To Arrest Mom Who Wouldn't Show ID When She Picks Her Kids Up From School https://reason.com/2020/12/21/cops-arrest-mom-school-id-crossing/ I do wish her luck. Her case has me thinking about Voltaire's observation that "those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities." The absurdity here is not just that kids can't cross a street by themselves. It's also that the mom picking up her kids must show proof that she is the person everyone knows she is. As if the ID is more reliable than her own kids saying, "Hi mom!" And the cruelty is that those rules allow the secretary—and cops—to torment the mom while claiming this is just for safety's sake. Yep. More proof that the state "owns" your children. You, as the caring and loving parent, do not.
