  2. I think the only complaint in SW Indiana in the past regarding Media Biased was how the Mt. Football award voting used to work. I think that is fixed now (with the IFCA member votes). Other than that we really don't need Indy media down here. Now, recruiting bias is another story, but that's a small town issue nation wide. It's always harder to get noticed when you don't play for a big school in a big media market.

  3. https://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/hail-to-the-washington-football-team/ I always refer to the NFL franchise based in Washington D.C. as the Redskins, even today. It's what they will always be.

  5. Hub Arkush is still a thing? I thought that guy retired w/ the likes of Hector Salamanca.

  6. I think "fall short" was an inelegant way for me to conclude that point. I think there are any number of factors that reduce a program's ability to compete, but relative enrollment among the 6A schools would be at the very bottom of my list. You often draw attention to SES--free and reduced lunch numbers, specifically--and that is a factor that can only be ignored by the obtuse. The idea of reducing 6A into two separate classes based on enrollment would do nothing to change the fact that the best football is played in the Indianapolis area, and programs--especially those in suburban Indianapolis--there are in a position of relative strength when compared with 6A programs outside of the Indianapolis metro area. They would be if they only had 2000-2500 students now that the competitive environment is built up the way that it has.

  8. What a butt hurt loser. It’s an ON THE FIELD award and the guy basically has a 9:1 TD:INT ratio for the #1 seed in the NFC.

  9. I saw that......Rodgers called the guy a bum.....and he is right. If Arkush is admitting that play on the field is not a factor in his vote, then he should lose his privilege of voting. That said, Johnathon Taylor is the MVP in my mind.

  10. Wow! He was a freshman at ND when I was a senior in the 1973 national championship season. One of Our Lady’s all-time greatest players. Ross Browner was one of the most decorated defensive players in the history of college football. At the University of Notre Dame he was a four-year starter at defensive end in 1973 and 1975–77. He was a unanimous All-America his junior and senior seasons of 1976 and 1977. In 1976, he won the Outland trophy as the nation's best interior or defensive lineman also in 1976 United Press Internationalnamed him Lineman of the Year. He won the Lombardi Trophy as the nation's best lineman and the Maxwell Award as the nation's best player and again won the UPI Lineman of the Year Award, the only player ever to win it twice. In the decade of the 1970s, Browner was the only lineman who won the Maxwell. In 1977, he also placed fifth in voting for the Heisman Trophy. During his senior year in college, he was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated with the subheading of "Notre Dame's Peerless Ross Browner."

  11. Good Point! I concede the argument. I tend to forget how much basketball is loved there (no sarcasm).

  14. Do not forget about Gary Harris for HSE. Obvious top recruit for basketball. He did play some football and was very talented. Just wanted to share another big time player out of the HCC.

  15. Fauci's pension to exceed $350 K/year. You don't last that long in DC not knowing how to sit on a fence.

  16. FWIW, Bates was #45 on the list…just ahead of guys like Anthony Spencer and James Hardy.

  17. Ah, good catch. Thanks. That bumps Jeffrey Simmons (TE/class of 2022) from Fishers into the top 25.

  18. Obviously my opinion matters zero to anyone in Knox county but I think they really screwed up. They had been working so hard and doing a great job with program momentum then they saw the SIAC move as the next step in their journey. Even for P&Ps it's hard to keep a program sexy in your own hallways winning 3-4 games a season. It's a hard sell to kids, "Just wait for the post season and we might win 3 games!" I think VL would be a great fit in the PAC Big division where they would also have some non-conference flexibility to adjust for up and down cycles in the program.

  19. Most of the complainers don’t want it fair. They just want to remove the teams they can’t beat.

  20. Canceling a single game due to a temporary situation, even a bowl game, is not nearly as big a deal as shutting down a program. But I certainly agree that safety comes first. Isn’t there a compromise between contraction and playing a full varsity schedule? Perhaps a “pause,” a term we’ve become all too familiar with in the post-COVID world? Or compete with only a JV schedule? Contraction is a permanent remedy for what may be a temporary situation.

  21. Not sure how you gauge the "best in the State" as far as design and play calling; unless someone has access to a LOT of video and time to watch. I can think of 4 off the top of my head that I would consider among the best I have ever coached with or against. But the fact is that we put WAY too much on how good a coach is to a team's record; completing discounting the ability level of the dudes putting the pads on every day.

  22. One thing that's always perplexed me in high schools is the idea of Lady *fill in the blank*. For example, if your team mascot is Wildcats, why is the boys' basketball team the Wildcats and the girls' basketball team the Lady Wildcats? Aren't all of the students of that school Wildcats?

  24. Bowen is Jaylon Smith all over again and I can’t see it otherwise. and i mean that in the highest praise with no reflection of Jaylon Smiths current nfl status. Kid can just ball out on both sides of the ball and then even special teams. He’s a special player for sure
