Or getting hit by one. I moved to Indiana in the summer of ‘69. Played high school baseball in the Spring of 1970. I led off for Munster and our first game was played in about 45 degrees of blustery wind, spitting rain. With the first pitch of the game, the pitcher from East Chicago Washington hit me right on the elbow. I couldn’t feel anything in my left arm for 3 innings. BTW, the pitcher for ECW was Tim Stoddard. Remember him?

The Jamboree format was very beneficial for the officials. You’d put 10 or so officials at each site, and they would rotate in and out all night. The great thing was that, with a mix of veteran and younger officials, you could get real time feedback on what you were doing, a luxury none of us had in season. It was, in essence, an on field clinic, coming at a very opportune time.

I like the idea of a jamboree again. With the schedule opened up to summer scrimmages, players get enough of that controlled look. It would be fun to see how your team stacks up in real game time situations before the first game of the season. Back when the controlled scrimmages took over for the jamboree, summers were not open to football activities and competition. Bring back the Jamboree!!

And both happen within a week.

FUND (Friends of the University of Notre Dame) started up back in January and it anticipates working with more than a half-dozen Notre Dame football players this spring. The board for it includes Tom Mendoza, Pat Eilers, and Jason Sapp. Per Pete Sampson of The Athletic, the board will interview players to determine the best possible fit and charitable interests. After that, it matches the charities with the players. Quinn is really excited about getting this going. “Notre Dame is very much in this in the NIL space,” Quinn said. “The goal is to provide these student-athletes with the opportunity to be able to take a portion of their time and receive compensation for it, but really falling under the guidelines of God, Country, Notre Dame, causes that are bigger than yourself. And that’s what this is all about.” The Notre Dame fanbase is pretty excited about this new endeavor. It will be fascinating to see how this is used to try and get recruits to come to South Bend, too

Class of 2022 5-Star top 30 Big man Malik Reneau commits' to Mike Woodson and Hoosiers former FLA Comitt he is teammates with JHS at Montverde Academy in FLA and a 2 time national champion. This makes IUs class of 2022 ranked 5th in nation and first in the Big 10 . It also provides and insurance policy for the IU front court if TJD decides to stay in the NBA Draft . Many believe is TJD return IU could begin as a top 10 team heading into next season.

Merely a minor blip on the radar screen for me. But I can see where Michigan fans would latch on to it.

This country was built on alcohol. For years when IO is out of his geographic home base, I always ask if they have any local brews. IO wonders at the science behind brewing/distilling. This past season of Moonshiners Tim Smith took a trip to several Mexican tequila and Mezcal distilleries. Fascinating generations old operations. The mix of science and art is truly amazing.

I will never pretend to speak for others. What should be and what is can be two totally different things.

SF has done his part supporting local breweries during this pandemic (so long as they offer a dark stout - if you can see through your beer, it ain't beer IMHO). Glad to have many of the old local haunts opening back up that survived this plandemic........

Mishawaka avoided Lowell and Dwenger to play Snider? I find that fascinating since Snider beat Dwenger 43-0 in 2012. Are we sure we know the REAL reason why Mishawaka bumped up?

A total of 27 jamborees were played on Mishawaka's field. The "jamboree era" began in 1968, took 2 years off ('83 and '84 when the cluster system schedules eliminated the jamborees) and ended after the 1996 jamboree when the IHSAA allowed a 9th regular season game to replace the jamborees. The first 6 years ('68 - '73) featured Mishawaka, Marian, Penn and St. Joe. The next 7 years ('74 - '80) included the four original schools and added Elkhart Central and Elkhart Memorial. These years saw near capacity crowds for the Mishawaka jamboree (around 8,500). IN 1981 and 1982, Elkhart Central dropped and Warsaw was added. When the jamborees resumed in 1985 after the end of the cluster system, the Mishawaka event had only 5 teams --- the 4 originals and Elkhart Memorial. Warsaw joined those 5 in 1986 and for the final 11 years of the "jamboree era" ('86 - '96) the event featured Mishawaka, Marian, Penn, St. Joe, Elkhart Memorial and Warsaw. Always happy to provide way more information than anyone wants or needs. 😜

That was the lineup when I was in hs (graduated in 96). I’m not sure how many years those were the 6 teams but this would have been like 92, 93, 94, 95 and possibly 96 or until jamborees stopped

Don't think it's crazy. North Davies moving to 2A likely puts them in a sectional with Linton-Stockton and then a regional with Providence (defending 2A champ). Both Linton and Providence finished with better Sagarin ratings as 2A schools and than any team they'd face in a potential 3A sectional or regional.

In other words, doing exactly what their shareholders expect them to do.

IHSAA was supposed to make all sports figure out a summer schedule, like football has the 12 days. Some have done so, girls basketball and soccer, while most of them have not. They keep saying we are leading the charge, but basketball will not change until the IHSAA makes their rules for them. We try to work things out with our basketball coach, they get June and we get July.
