I'm still not sold on CP winning a Semistate game against an INDY area team this year . They may win the Regional but it ends there . Crown Point has only played 3 teams with a winning record .

Illegal substitution is also a non-player foul and probably the better call than UNS, but both get the same result. Otherwise I agree with you. This doesn't happen that often and the crew had to piece together what they believe happened. Maybe 1 or 2 officials saw the players come on the field, and they were also focused on action of the play itself while that happened. They wanted nothing more than to get it right and believe based on the information they had at the time they got it right. When crazy plays like that happen, we sometimes get crazy results. Danville stays on the sideline until the whistle blows and none of this is being discussed. I get why they thought the play was over and got excited. But they are not 100% without responsibility here.

And then there was one. Probably not the one most expected. Was there a parade in Clinton? South Putnams at Riverton Parkes. SP has been my pick to win 1A South all year and that hasn’t changed. This will be ugly early and they’ll call off the dogs

I agree with your view, to a point. It is perfectly acceptable - even encouraged - for the crew to huddle in a situation like this. Obviously a critical play. Also, obviously a very unusual play. Typically, the Referee will consult the rest of the crew to make sure he has all relevant information before making a ruling. So, a so-called “late flag” is not an issue here. But I agree with you that the crew should have excluded everyone from their crew huddle before their decision was made. Regardless of what was said, the optics were terrible. And optics are a big part of selling the legitimacy of a big call like that.

That's not really saying much. From a 6A standpoint Elkhart had the worst offense I've personally seen this year. Nice! His sister lives or at least used to live in Carmel. I randomly met his parents in Carmel a year or so ago. VERY nice people. Mom was proudly wearing a vintage Steelers shirt.

I agree with you, but several on here think CP is coming out of the North again. I think if it is CP vs. Westfield it will be a great game. I would pick Westfield if the game were today, but lots of things to happen over the next 2 weeks to change my mind

No way does Snider win a shootout with Carroll so the game needs to be the winner having no more than 17 points. Using Fry as a lead blocker for Snider has paid dividends since the loss to Carroll, freshman running back as also exploded onto the scene for Snider and he is a bruising type of runner. Honestly, in my opinion, Snider needs some help from Carroll as well. They need 2-3 turnovers, maybe a defensive touchdown, to beat Carroll. Sullivan is a great QB

When I say favorite, I keep thinking of the northern half of the state. I've got Crown Point and Westfield even up with Hamilton Southeastern not far behind. I just don't think the Royals have been as consistent as the Rocks. Crown Point might be better than last year, which could be dangerous for anyone they run into. But if they square off against Westfield, the Rocks are going to be VERY motivated to avenge last year's loss. It's hard to say, I'm basing this off of scores and internet chatter. I've not seen either of these teams in person. That being said, we can't overlook the possibility of Fishers taking on Snider for the semi-state title. Gotta love high school football.

Carroll could do no wrong the first time around against Snider. Sullivan placed the ball perfectly every time he passed the ball, even Snider's two D1 defensive backs had a hard time defending his pin point precision. I think this week could be different because of the improvement on the offensive side of the ball. They have some different looks and one player player in particular that Carroll didn't see the first time around. Tippmann and Isaacs are also very good with adjustments, so yes, it could be different this time around. I don't expect a wide margin of victory. On the flip side, there's not a coach in the state of Indiana who knows the inner workings of the Panther program better than Coach Dinan. Couple that with the possibility that Snider might be without their Notre Dame commit defensive back, and Jimmy Sullivan could take advantage of that. Gimmie Carroll, but in a closer game. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Snider won. Crown Point's been my favorite since Week 2, and I'll stick with that. But, Carroll's offensive is capable of giving anyone fits and Snider's defense is good enough to keep them competitive in any game against anyone. Fodder? No. Do I still have Crown Point as the favorite? Yes.

Westfield scored all 49 points in the first half. Seven offensive possessions, 7 TDs. The Rocks only threw 7 passes the entire game, two for TDs. No starters played in the second half. Just about everyone other than the cheerleaders played. Looks like the same for CG, all but one score was before halftime, although in that game, CG did have two first half defensive TDs.

Possibly. They looked pretty good in the second half against Elkhart without him. Obviously he's not a player you want to lose, but they have depth at the DB position.

And this morning that win over Louisville is also looking better, as the Cardinals went in to Clemson and made Dabo cry!

I will say this once again, the game is not considered over until the Referee holds the ball over his head or worst case the officials leave the field. The referee never did this and the officials never left the field. They deemed it illegal substitution or illegal participation instead of what it truly was, an unsportsmanlike conduct for a non player entering the field during the play. We had time to see the replay and hear about it from others. They had a five minute discussion and just happened to get it wrong. I can guarantee they won’t again and they will feel terrible about it for a long time to come. The fact that is is over a week old and we are still discussing it is crazy. Is Brebeuf playing next week? No. I understand this would be one more game at least and it would have been decided by the players. They more than likely would have been beat, just like Brebeuf. The state championship was not decided in this game.

Adam Berry is the best coach in west central Indiana. The guy is more than just “the dude who lucked into Jack Kiser.” Dude knows ball.

This game is going to be either a high scoring one or a defensive slugfest. However, it will be nice to see the renovations to the Jungle and what HH has done with the stadium. Haven’t been there since the 2017 game.
