Congratulations to Mark. As someone who has had dealings with Mark often, I can tell you he's a first-rate individual and not just a great athlete. I'm really excited for him. Great to see so many at the surprise reveal of the award...including past Mr. Football from BD, James Banks.

All three of those jobs you have listed at 2/3/4 are better than Carmel IMO. I'll add in Fishers and HSE and the obvious ones like Cathedral and Chatard also. Here goes: 1. Cathedral 2. Westfield 3. Center Grove 4. Brownsburg 5. Fishers 6. HSE 7. Chatard 8. Carmel 9. Ben Davis 10. Warren Central Just off the top of my head. Things such as where I am in my career, what my goals are, where I live, what my job responsibilities are along with community support, family involvement and of course, SES.

Oh, no doubt. But the starting line for these 10 programs differs vastly from most other jobs around the state. At some places, you just have to have the right guy to keep the train rolling down the tracks, at others you have to build the track, maintain the train, and drive it all once.

Wait...so I'm confused - Mr. Hebert was the previous coach at Carmel, but just "resigned" - only to take a Coaching job for the next football season?? I know we are not ever allowed to discuss anything in terms of the rumor-mill on this forum, but this seems odd to me? Seems to me 2 plausible explanations for this scenario: 1. His "resignation" was more of a "suggestion" type deal 2. The article mentioned he has a son in the Noblesville feeder program, and took this as an opportunity to Coach his son (which is certainly most understandable)

If one were to, lets say, rank the best jobs in Indiana.....what might a person who does rankings come up with? If there were a guy like that on this board🤔 🍿

If it comes out that this gun was brought from home, then SF firmly stands on the opinion that the parent(s) bear responsibility. This kid did not purchase the firearm, nor was legally carrying it. No new law would have stopped this, but proper and stiff enforcement of the law could be a deterrent. Lock the parents up if they can't keep firearms safe in the house with a minor around and this kind of thing happens. I have not seen it posted here yet, but another Indy coaching change happened two weeks ago. Southport football coach Alex Bettag was terminated after four seasons. Southport went 0-10 this past season, 2-39 in Bettag's four seasons. Bettag mentioned in the Indy Star the fact that Perry Township, and Southport in particular, has a large Chin population that has immigrated from Burma. He said that these kids count towards Southport's total Class 6A student population, even though those students are not familiar with football, but with soccer. It's making Southport at a disadvantage having to play in the largest class in all sports. Earlier this year both the girls and boys' basketball coaches resigned. The girls coach was there for 7 seasons, winning an average of 7 games per season. The boy's coach resigned after just one season.

Dave is a great family man and you will not find a nicer guy in HS sports. I know he is passionate about his scheme and he worked tirelessly to get it going there. It was always great to see him on a Friday night and catch up. Having lived here in Noblesville for almost 24 years, this program is primed for a breakthrough but it seems just out of reach for every coach over the past few seasons. They have the pieces with facilities. If you haven't laid eyes on them, drive by when you're in the area. The Athletic Dept. is as good as there is in the state. They win in every sport. I think last years graduating class saw 11 state titles while they were students there (in multiple sports). Community support is great.
