One thing to consider in this as well. A number of kids know each other from various 7 on 7 competitions, invite camps, and other workouts and camps. And they follow each other on social media. One player may consider transferring, texts a couple friends about it. Or a player announces a transfer and others see it and think about it themselves.
Why wouldn't they? There's zero upside in playing Virginia....only downside.
IU and the rest of the B10 already play 9 conference games and subsequently 9 P4 opponents. Until the SEC gets rid of their 8 game conference format, no reason IU or any B10 team for that matter should handicap themselves by playing 10 or potentially 11 P4 games in the regular season. It's not needed.
Sadly this is not the first nor will it be the last time that a coaching staff decides to lose a few more games or a shot at a title due to their "loyalty" program. Play the committed senior whose has shown up to the all the camps rather than the ultra talented transfer. Some call it politics, others call it high school football. Either way, every year there are kids on the sidelines or even walking the hallways who are difference makers...We have hatched this out on the GID many times. I lean more towards putting the best 11 on the field yet I also understand that winning isn't everything.
I agree. I have seen him. But my neighbors son goes to Merrillville and he said all the starters said they won’t allow him to start. And if he comes in before the half in a non injury situation they better be on sidelines. They are taking a stand over the QB sanders that walked away because he was told he wouldn’t be the starter after Hill came in. This might be the best shot they have at state and they will mess it up
