  1. Add to it, Wayne is now a 5A school. They need to stay in the SAC. Another issue that is continuing to impact schools that would rule out a move to the NCC is travel expenses, especially the diesel fuel that school buses run on.

  2. I guess your take on 2) is fair....until someone who has that same position believes that makes it ok to constantly disparage officals. Everyone is so entitled now days....actually I think there is a lot to learn about life from bad calls. The most valueable skill a young man can learn (and most don't any more) is self restraint/control. Letting bad calls cause one to lose self restraint is weakness. It's a sickness that is permiating our socieity.

  3. Neuqua Valley is in Naperville as well. They played Chatard at LN in 2016.

  4. That's a great approach to take! Getting upset about a bad call or perceived bad call isn't going to change anything. At the high school level, you are going to see wide variety of officiating quality. But everyone on the field is trying to do the best they can. Many perceived bad calls are the result of fans not understanding the rules. And the actual bad calls rarely are the reason for an outcome of a game. It may seem that way especially if they are poorly timed. But every play contributes to the outcome and coaches and players never have perfect games. Many sports including football are imperfect and that includes officials despite their desire to be perfect. Embrace the imperfection.

  5. When I was I think a junior I think I did my first radio interview. My coach told me before I went “don’t tell them what you know”. Best piece of advice coach ever gave me.

  6. Actually, upon further research, I need to retract that particular statement because there’s a bigger gap in the student numbers in comparison to the NE8 than I realized. Competitively, that would be a good fit for football but I’m not sure it would work out well for the other sports. I had surmised that Wayne and South Side would fit well in the NE8 because they were 4A football schools like most of the conference. I had forgotten, though, that both just got bumped up to 5A. Not to mention, the NE8 schools in 4A were on the lower side student population-wise. Nevertheless, I still don’t think it’s feasible for Wayne or South Side to join the NCC either. The only realistic options I see are for them to stay in the SAC, go independent, or try to gather a few regional schools in hopes of forming a new conference.

  10. Agreed. Pate is a very intelligent guy. I enjoy his podcasts. That's how I understood it as well. Betting on the game should be the one area EVERYONE agrees has consequences.

  11. It's just a game, played by children. Why are we continuing to try and take the human element out of a game? What are the current betting lines for Travel ball?

  13. This is insane. Had he done this as a player in any pro sport he would be banned. I do think all of this pretty much keeps him out of the NFL.

  14. Returning. O D TW 10 8 IC 7 7 Monrovia 9 10 BG 9 7 Speedway 4 3 TC 5 5 Greenwood 5 3 Shelbyville 6 5 My numbers could be 1 or 2 off on any given team. But the conference looks to be in really good shape coming into 2026. I would say the Favorite has to be TW, just seeing who they return. IC will be tough, Monrovia returning alot, BG returns quite a bit. You never know about transfers or kids that may have been injured returning. How good will Greenwood be, since they are used to playing in a tough conference already, and what will Shelbyville bring to the table? Btw order of teams is not a prediction of any kind, just the way the teams typed out of my fingers...... Here is hoping to a great year in the Hoosier Legends Conference.

  15. Two things can be true. 1) Travel ball is awful. 2) Umpires continue to have too much influence on the outcome of baseball/softball games. Now, hear me out on #2. In all sports, officials are there to make sure the game is played fairly and inside the rulebook. In baseball/softball, an umpires strike zone can change in mere seconds. Their eyesight dictates the difference between a baserunner and a strike out, safe or out, fair or foul. I'm a HUGE fan of ABS, NOT because I don't appreciate the job that umpires do, but because you can't have a fair sport based on the whim of a human. I know umpires are doing their best, and 99% of the time, they are calling the game right down the middle. However, we all know that makeup calls exist. I've witnessed and spoken with an umpire that admitted to opening up "the zone" because some coach said something. That's asinine. Kids overcoming adversity is meant to be about the competition. The adversity shouldn't be because of the officials, in ANY sport.
