  1. Wasn't it the mainstream media who "outed" the state legislator as a hoaxer? I don't believe it is "fake news" for the media to: (i) report on a viral social media posting by a public figure who has made some charged allegations of racism or other misconduct by another person; (ii) look further into the public figure's social media allegations to see if they are true; and (iii) report if/when the public figure's social media allegations turn out to be exaggerated or untrue? I mean, isn't that pretty much exactly what the media does most every weekend after one of the President's twitter storms?

  7. Possible Budget Deal Will Add $2 Trillion to the National Debt: https://reason.com/2019/07/22/possible-budget-deal-will-add-2-trillion-to-the-national-debt/ 27.2K people are talking about this While Trump says Republican and Democratic leaders in the House and Senate have agreed to the budget and debt ceiling plan, Rep. Justin Amash (I–Mich.) offered a note of dissent.] 3,431 people are talking about this In a statement, the CRFB said the budget deal "may be the worst in history," given the country's current precarious fiscal condition. "Members of Congress should cancel their summer recess and return to the negotiating table for a better deal. If they don't, those who support this deal should hang their heads in total shame as they bolt town," says Maya MacGuineas, president of the CRFB. "This deal would amount to nothing short of fiscal sabotage." If President Donald Trump signs the deal into law, he will have authorized a 22 percent increase in federal discretionary spending during his first term in office—having signed a March 2018 budget deal that similarly jacked up both domestic and military spending. It's apparent at this point that there is virtually no political coalition in Washington, D.C., genuinely interested in reducing spending and bringing the national debt under control. Democrats are largely a lost cause when it comes to fiscal responsibility, while Republicans—with few exceptions—are little better, having abandoned decades of lip service to the benefits of smaller government. .... But as Trump has taken over the Republican Party, the influence of those other groups has waned. And with Democrats now controlling the House, any Republican resistance to higher spending will have a blunted effect anyway. Meanwhile, the national debt will continue to grow even without lawmakers adding to it this month. The CBO presently projects that the federal government will add another $11.6 trillion to the deficit over the next decade. By 2049, the national debt will be more than one and a half times the size of the entire U.S. economy, breaking a record set during World War II. If a recession hits, those numbers could be worse. And yet the only thing officials in Washington can agree to do is spend more money. May our children forgive us. Pitiful. And Mr. Amash is right. If bears repeating: "More spending. More debt. More failure of representation. This “deal” reflects our broken process. A few “leaders” dictate terms to everyone else. They don’t care how bad the “deal” is for America, as long as they maintain power. They then bribe and punish others to get it done." These are the leaders the uni-party system has given us. Those who continue to vote for this trash should be ashamed.

  11. You guys are right-- the Success Factor system is not a perfect system. Maybe it should be longer than a 2-year window. However, if you change it to 4 years. a school might win 3 or 4 titles with a "golden generation" before they get bumped up. And then that next group of kids has to play in a higher class for the next 4 years. So the same critics of the 2-year window would criticize the 4-year window for mucking up the entire HS career for some kids. You're right. Winning 2 back-to-back Sectionals isn't the definition of "dominance". But it is the definition of "being competitive". Looking at the big picture (& not just at whether your school is playing up or not)-- If a program is so Dominant in Cycle #1 that they earned enough Points (6 or more) to get bumped up & then they were Competitive enough in Cycle #2 to earn enough Points (2, 3, 4 or 5) to remain in that higher class, it makes sense to me to keep that program up in the higher Competitive class instead of dropping them into the lower Dominant Class. Social Security is a Socialist rule. Medicare/Medicare/VA healthcare are all Socialist. Public Libraries are Socialist. Highways, Roads & Bridges are Socialist. Farm Subsidies are Socialist. Public Education is Socialist.

  12. Per the Monticello Herald Journal, Mark Gretencord named new head football coach. he is also there head basketball coach. Should avoid the conflict of sharing athletes. If he adds a spring sport he turns into an old school coach who coaches all seasons. Also of note in the TC area, JR Haskins has returned as principal of the HSMS.

The Erica Thomas Incident Wasn't National News, But That Never Stops Our Outrage-Hungry Media: https://reason.com/2019/07/22/erica-thomas-grocery-store-racism-hoax-media/ More evidence of the media fueling the fire of hyper-racism, hyper-sensitivity/outrage. It seems today in America a member of the racial majority can't criticize a member of a racial minority, rightly or wrongly, without being branded or painted as a racist by media. Is that right, is this the America we want to live in?
