I was a fast pitch softball catcher back in the 1960's and I only wore a mask. I had ball marks over most of my body at the end of a season, but I loved playing the position. Looking back, I was real lucky that I didn't get seriously injured. The only serious injury I had was congratulating a home run by a teammate. I broke my hand in the melee. I caught about 50-60 games a year for most of those years. I'm so happy that Damar Hamlin is progressing. It looked pretty bad for a day or two. Medical science has really improved in the last 20 years or so. The on field response was swift and the first responders knew exactly what to do!

Nobody who watched Carson play regularly is surprised by his success. I laughed when I heard IU told him he lacked breakaway speed. How often does that come into play for IU vs. a guy who can break tackles? IU's backs get an open hole about as often as Halley's Comet makes a pass.

My dad managed the St. Joe K of C team back in the 70's. I am not sure at what point he started that, but he was when they won the ASA State title in Peru.....I forget the year though. Spent many night in the dirt at old Metro stadium.

Definitely lucky to come away with just a broken hand. what’s crazy to me is that I had no idea this was a possibility until my sophomore year of college. I was playing Lacrosse at Wabash College and ya know…I wasn’t very good so I got pretty familiar with the trainers office and often helped them where I could. If not for my curiosity and asking what this machine was (AED) I might have not learned about the risk of being hit in the chest at just the wrong time and place. like I mentioned earlier…there is so much good that is going to come out of this…aside from Damars foundation that has now raised 8 MILLION DOLLARS (awesome) the awareness of this risk is now immense and someone’s child’s life is going to be saved from this awareness no doubt

It looks like Damar Hamlin is progressing quite well. He's off the ventilator and talking to his family and teammates. The on field support was more than adequate, as has been his support in the intensive care unit of the UC Hospital! Hats off to all who participated to this point.

12 years , 3 coaches , dozens of different players . Last night they looked like the same old IU Big Ten road performance. 1 step forward - 2 steps back it’s sad I want them to succeed I like Mike Woodson I get these are young college kids but as a fan it’s just so darn frustrating to watch it time and time again i realize the glory days are long gone and so do most rational fans . I just want a program that can consistently compete in the top half of the Big Ten . Win 21-25 games a year and be a solid presence in the NCAA tourney and who knows when a run can happen ? your roster is comprised of an All American , 2 5-star freshman and multiple seniors and you can’t win a road game against a team that is 0-3 in the Big Ten and lost to Eastern Illinois at home ? I know it’s early January BUT these next couple of games might decide to fate of the Hoosiers this season they could dig themselves a hole they won’t get out of like they almost did last year

no doubt, just a tough situation all the way around in the current landscape, you just pick the pieces up and get back at it with new crew and get to work

You mean, in addition to all the tests they are already doing now? He’s no doubt already had serial MRIs of the brain, constant monitoring of his ventilation status, round the clock testing of kidney & liver function, blood chemistry, and probably 20 other parameters we don’t know about. He’s almost certainly had an echocardiogram to see if there’s damage to the heart muscle.
