I played in MO under a 1.5 multiplier. As a HS student, it never even entered my mind that we were "playing up"....it seems to be more of a fan/parent/now social media thing.

Unfortunately, the KY version... Dragon football has become a "shell" of what we were when I was there. The newest HS: South Warren HS (about 2 blocks from where I lived) has far surpassed them, and it probably won't change anytime soon. Warren County Schools (KY) had 2 High Schools when we moved there from STL. I believe they now have 4 (Greenwood, South Warren, Warren East and Warren Central). As the "metropolitan" area of Bowling Green (🤣) has expanded, you are seeing a shift in athletic prowess in certain sports. Football at WCHS, is no longer the focus. It seems to be soccer and other 'country club' sports.

Yes they are...Let's be serious! Perhaps one of the KY teams is a 'wash'...but 2/3 are better. And that is NOT a swipe at the WC as it exists today.

Same 'reasons' that Carroll and Homestead aren't FULL members of the SAC.... Domination would ensue in the country club sports/academic events/etc.. Not many one outside of those 2 would get 'patches' on their letter jackets.

Not being from the "Indy Area". But this seems extremely plausible. I am also assuming that you are taking into account the TOTALITY of the other athletic/academic programs when you made this suggestion?

Wonderful to see the former Wapahani HS Pitcher, Zack Thompson (#57) make his MLB debut today (for my STL Cardinals) against the Cubs. 3 up...3 down! And a nice touch with him wearing the #57 of (the late) Darryl Kile... Gone too soon...

Agreed. And with the Sectional/Regional assignment they currently have, they avoid Indy Area schools until the Semi-State. Also, they avoid the "local rival traps" until that same round. Could be a nice thing for them if they advance.

I wish the best for Coach Doerffler. I am surprised that he is moving to Leo; But understanding of the "talent that roams the halls of Northrop" and the inability of multiple staffs to get those individuals on the gridiron....I believe this will be a seamless transition with the Leo program. I also see a coach whose "record" is no where near reflective of his knowledge and leadership. The NE8, IMO is an absolute best of a mainly 4A Conference! I think that it will continue to be so, with perhaps a more diversified offensive approach now heading to Leo HS. As for Northrop; I also believe that they could be on the cusp of a sea-change. If a Coach and their staff could get those kids to 'buy into' the program....there is no doubt they could be a force within the SAC and perhaps 6A North. Open enrollment in the FWCS is the issue also. But no need to get all into that quagmire of an issue.

Sectionals 2 and 3 are a bit of a shock. But someone (sorry I can't recall), made mention that it was entirely possible that the FW group in #3 would be split and 2 Indy Area schools would head up I-69 (or vice versa) to fill out #3. Great Call.

Gonna throw in MY answer.... Baseball: 38 Years (9 State Finals) Football: 22 Years (3 State Finals) And apparently I am now a "Senior" citizen.... 56, I guess I am OLD now. 😒

Just chiming in on the St. Francis site suggestion. An absolutely TERRIBLE place to play a HS Football game. It is well suited for small college NAIA FB that don't have visiting teams travel. But no so much for HS Football. We had a 4A Regional matchup there a few years ago. The visiting fans were basically confined to a small section in the end zone, and a 1A sized visiting stand on the opposite sideline. Let's not get ahead of ourselves with the usage of an NAIA facility for HS football.

And if I can remember. This was the year that Kevin Keirmaier saved them in the Baseball Sectional Final (with 2 outs). And got himself a scholarship to Parkland JC. The rest as they say.....IS HISTORY!

Missouri played their Title games at: Mizzou and Missouri State. Kentucky played theirs at: UK and Western Kentucky Illinois played at UI-Champaign and now at NIU No idea of where you are getting your "information"

Hey guys. Just a heads up. I gave a "sit and spin" reaction to a couple of the posts. It wasn't mean to be negative... but rather a "WOW" reaction. Guess we need that emoji soon!

Wow. Coach Sattuck IMO is a great coach, who brought to our crew, an understanding that each play is an individual thing. By saying that, I mean that he was able to immediately construct what happened, and move on to the next. An absolute pleasure to work with at Elkhart Central and Elkhart HS. I don't know his future plans, but I hope to see him again within Indiana HS Football. He is a wonderful young man and educator!

Let me say this. I was just responding to the topic as it persists for various reasons with officials that I have spoken with. Having said that. I officiate because I LOVE officiating. Is $ a factor? Yes, but not THE factor with me or in terms of our crew as it pertains to FB. I have no issue with the pre-game mandated activities. We look at Friday night FB as a great time to get together and the comradery is 2nd to none. As an aside, we also do 2 lower level FB games during the week....AS A CREW! That keeps us on our toes come Friday nights. There are a myriad of officiating related methods that are factors with some doing Collegiate games, that on the HS level will never be in place. An obvious example is the ratings/ranking/evaluation system being in the hands of an evaluator almost exclusively at the collegiate levels. Because HS sports is an education based extracurricular activity, I can never see the "customer" not having the major ability for input in the officiating process/system. Just my .02

I have heard from numerous officials in FB that the mandates about: "pregame" time, travel to and from game sites, uniforms, mandated meetings (without renumeration), and inability to advance (this being a minor argument, mostly). I think $ is a major factor. I take a MAJOR pay cut every year when the playoffs start. The travel pay (to and from) hasn't changed in at least 15-20+ years. Plus the difference in pay scale across the State is unbelievable. Within the area that I have as my home base. We have negotiated a pay scale that is perhaps the best in the State. So when I hear about the pay scales outside of the area, I am astounded at the rates. This has been a consideration with the acceptance of contests in some regards.
