Don’t discount Kevin Vanderbush’s impact on not only the Football program but all programs. -

As late as the early 90’s, not uncommon for the guy on one end of the chain to be wearing a Ralph Lauren parka, and the guy on the other end would be wearing worn out Carhartt bibs. Most on this board haven’t been around long enough to know/remember there was mostly farmland north of about 82nd Street. -

2019 best frosh team I saw combined with a solid JV team. I didn’t see any Frosh/JV games in 2020. It will be interesting to see who this job attracts. Best luck to Coach Weber in his future endeavors, always liked the guy. -
Roughing the Passer ... or Not?

Tough to tell on slo mo, I think you have to call that. Completely avoidable and not necessary. -
For many years Badger was Adidas largest supplier. Adidas made the move to the Southeast Asia. That was about the time you started seeing a lot of Badger branded apparel. My guess on your color is Adidas fights the same battles Nike has, constantly switching vendors leads to color/material inconsistencies. Nike makes some decent apparel, but I never bought two pieces of apparel that fit the same. We never used Nike apparel when I was coaching, but when my kid was at MU, they were a LIDS school, so the fan gear was all Nike and of course all of the team’s apparel. Being out of coaching and out of parenting, not my problem anymore. My only bitch now is the IHSAA forcing officials to use their suppliers for shirts that are 20 bucks higher than what we were paying for the same shirts before the move.

I blame Under Armour. As they have woo’d schools away from Adidas, Adidas has really cut their stock program, particularly when it comes to purple. When I was coaching, our school colors are Northwestern Purple and White. Northwestern U makes the move to UA, and our main vendor is an Adidas distributor. Adidas cut purple drastically from their stock program. Last set of uni’s we bought, we had to go with black and use purple accents. I understand there are other distributors out there, but me being a loyal guy, I wanted to stick with my guy who’d taken care of me thru the years.

Names on the Back of Jerseys

No rule saying yea or nay. I’m old school, the only name on the jersey is the team’s. Unless of course you’re ND, Penn State, or Alabama. -

Good for Clarksville, the MSC has outgrown them in my opinion. Keep up the good work coach, you’re making an impact. -
No, it’s because of idiots.

Sadly one of the chief reasons this once thriving forum has lead to many good posters moving on.

I can attest the game isn’t nearly what it was when Bill Siderwisz/ Moriarity we’re on the sidelines. To a lesser extent when Joey was coaching. -

Chuck Hurley was one of the finest men I ever met. Rushville and Connersville are a given in Football. I’m talking about across the board, they might fare a little better in Men’s basketball, but across the board, I think it’s about a wash. -

Likewise I don’t have a dog in the fight. I know as of last fall there was no thoughts of leaving. I get what you’re saying, and with a brand new school system, there are a lot of wild cards that at this point are just unknown. I’m not familiar with the inner workings of the MSC either. -

I would agree SC wouldn’t be bottom feeders in the HHC. I’m sure they already play a nearly full HHC schedule in most sports aside from football. Regarding Football, first off hats off to SC in what they’ve managed to build in a short time frame. I’ve seen them several times over the last 10 years and seen the growth. That being said there is a big difference in playing 1 game a year against bigger schools and the depth they bring and playing an entire season. How many people did SC have playing both ways this year? Then think about replacing Clarksville, Scottsburg, Eastern Pekin, etc., with Jeff, NA, BNL, etc. As the season grinds on, it becomes a cumulative effect. I’m not trying to belittle any of the programs listed, just for comparison. All of this is fun to speculate about, from my conversations with people in the know, SC has no interest in a conference change, and honestly why would they? They are typically among conference leaders across the board and they’re growing while already being the biggest school in the conference they’re in. -

Chuck Hurley is spinning in his grave at the thought of JC leaving the HHC. That being said, across the board would JC fare any better in the EIAC than they do in the HHC? -

Didn’t JC traditionally open with an EIAC school? There seems to be some reshuffling going on in the EIAC I received several contact cancellations last week for EIAC games. -
Using the four letter "F" word

Everyone needs “a guy”. Whether it’s haircuts, car repair, or financial planning. My son recently moved to Fort Wayne for a new job, and he has always just kinda flown by the seat of his pant, get “a guy”, build a relationship, it will save you time, headaches, and most of all money in the long run. -

Dude you’re all over the place. You’re talking about inheritance tax, gift tax, unearned income tax, and I’m assuming cap gains tax in this thread. Inheritance tax is pretty easy to navigate around, gift tax is what it is, tax rates are pretty reasonable on unearned income, cap gains requires some ingenuity. As I keep telling my son, you gotta get “a guy”.
