  1. From what I understand, the rules in the senate are up to the senate, the constitution is largely silent. As we saw in the house the party in power can basically make it up as they go. My real fear here is dangerous precedents are being set. Both parties need to realize that sooner or later the other idiots will be in charge.
  2. It also overshadowed a pork riddled spending bill. Even Woodward and Bernstein have moved on to the cable news clown show. https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/12/five-bad-things-in-the-new-spending-deal/
  3. As do I. I meant to say that in my post, but failed to do so. She's shrewd politician, one angle no one seems to be talking about it possibly she doesn't send this to the senate, which in effect solves her issue with having it to begin with. I have no doubt a deal was made to shut up the opposition when she became speaker again in January. If she opts to head to greener pastures next year, she has no one to answer to, certainly no the D Party. I also find it interesting is we haven't heard a word from the young movers and shakers in a LONG time. Is VOC still the house?
  4. Say what you want about Pelosi, she's a shrewd politician. The press seems to have jumped on this withholding the articles angle. It's interesting to watch this play out. On the bright side of things it's refreshing to see the D's suddenly embrace the Constitution. I take it this means and end to any gun control legislation?
  5. Sometimes I think the guys in the back just get bored. My guess is the guy (and I say guy because no gal would ever) manning the Chyron generator was just having a little fun. When we generated hazardous wastes I had to write up some incredibly long boring manuals that no one would ever read and they had to be submitted to IDEM for review. I used to slip some stuff in the middle of that just for my amusement.
  6. Indiana has it figured out just hide a smoking age change in a spending bill. If there is a conservative left in Indy, please turn the light out.
  7. I coached girls for many years, and was still learning the last day.
  8. I would imagine you deal with a fair amount of metric.......you're not on board? Once I switched, there was no looking back. I love it.
  9. I would agree that thought provoking questions can be asked. Minds changed.....ehhhh I don't know about that. The largely visceral interactions that have gone on via the Internet since day one do little to change minds, quite the contrary I think it only serves to entrench people deeper in the their beliefs. They tune out what they don't want to hear. As an example, I have a bunch of liberal friends on FB and they post all this political crap which I largely ignore. One day a friend makes a post about the Charlottesvile and goes on to opine that speech like this has to be silenced, it needs to be made illegal. I couldn't help myself, I had to reply. I was immediately barraged by her legion of 50 something recovering soccer moms, and several other classmates. Of course several unfriended me, which is fine, I don't determine my worth by my collection of FB friends. So my point being, no one wants to hear what they disagree with. They only want to be in an echo chamber with like minded voices. As time marches on, I see this becoming more and more the norm. As our visceral interactions online are spilling over into actual real world interactions. I think minds change over years, from various inputs, most notable wisdom and experience that comes with age.
  10. Agreed. And when I was a HC I never made them mandatory. However competition for rosters spots (we did cut kids) began when open gyms started. If you weren't there you couldn't compete. And I will admit our conditioning program sucked, it was hard, and part of the deal was to weed out kids who really didn't want to play Softball. I had an assistant coach who was into the whole fitness thing, she was into it and did the program with the players. The OP leaves a lot to be desired as far as information, and there are always three sides to every story. I don't have a problem with team leaders handing a situation like this. From what we can see, this situation wasn't handled in the best manner, but again we only have one very poorly explained story. As an aside it's from FB which lends an even greater degree of credibility. We used a 10 week leadership program when I was coaching with varying degrees of success with it. I coached girls and sometimes high school girls leading high school girls is akin to pushing a rope.
  11. Well the pool is getting more and more shallow as news outlets are really starting to frown on ad blockers. I've also found as I've gotten older that I really need less "real news" and "substance" in my life, given the fact that I have ZERO control over any of it, and a lot more entertainment. Given the choice of Don Lemon, Sean Hannity, or Andy Griffith reruns, I'll that TAGS reruns every day and twice on Sunday.
  12. It appears this deal on 1/20/20 is a real event. https://www.vcdl.org/ This graphic is what I really find interesting. It would appear that the vast majority of state lawmakers are ignoring the will of the people.
  13. Then you're obviously missing most of the entertainment value of FB.
  14. The plot thickens. https://www.lawenforcementtoday.com/it-begins-virginia-forms-active-militia-to-protect-sheriffs-citizens-from-unconstitutional-laws/
  15. I totally get what you're saying. And I agree there are schools out there that put money into and do maintenance on their fields. But that's not the majority of schools. If you look at a base of 750K for the initial install and figure 12 years for the life of the surface you're looking at 62.5K a year in maintenance costs. Even adding some sod now and then, mowing, chemicals, grass seed, water, etc., I don't think you're going to come up with 62.5K a year in maintenance costs. As I stated earlier, it's hard to quantify all the other events that are now possible with the artificial surface and put a price tag on them. I'm not arguing against it, I'm just saying the initial cost is hard to justify from a financial standpoint. Lastly why is it that every time it rains on Friday night, we're always on one of the worse grass/dirt fields the state has to offer?
  16. Granted this isn't an issue for me, but my wife complains about it all the time. The cats want what they want when they want it.
