  1. Would CG football be such a "pariah" if they hadn't won 3 straight 6A state championships and 4 straight trips to the 6A state finals? Why are teams scheduling them in every other sport, but not football.? So you believe they should be punished and unable to defend their state title through no fault of their own? No more quotes about "life isn't fair"....that requires next to no thought. that is a complete mistatement. They do play other IHSAA schools in every sport other than football. And their desire is to play in-state school for football. They are resorting to out of state to try and build a 9 game schedule.
  2. I am an angry guy that lacks integrity. OK....You must be a true peach during dinner time conversations. Your deliberate attempt to label people that have a different view reminds me of a politician or the average 15 year old on Twitter. Enough of following you into your rabbit hole. How about I just consider myself lucky that you don't lead the IHSAA or I don't sit at your dinner table? Can we agree on this? BTW, thank you for the life lesson...πŸ˜„
  3. you came up with an arbitrary 5 game in-state number to be able to play in the post-season tournament. Whether I agree with you or not on the that number, my point is that CG had an in-state schedule of 5 in-state opponents, until 2 of them balked very late in the game. I will also reiterate that its a good thing your vote doesn't count. Get used to it.
  4. Go back and read my comment again. CG didn't run away from any Indiana high schools. Just the opposite...they had to work their tails off looking far and wide to fill their schedule. Perhaps you should ask Carmel why they took their ball and ran home, opening up a game originally scheduled for week 2. Or why Ben Davis dropped CG for IMG (out of state) in week 4. And while any CG fan hope that playing a far tougher schedule than even their normal tough schedule bears a return on that investment for the post season, it certainly does not guarantee success in the playoffs. I think you know this...
  5. I can't open your link....and while I like Kyle's stuff, its not enough to get me to subscribe. I guess thank goodness only the IHSAA's contention matters..... I don't think CG is running away from playing in-state high schools. Their schedule this year will be as tough as it gets by being forced to look outside the state to field a schedule.
  6. $179MM guaranteed....70% of the total extension amount.....not bad...not bad at all. https://images.app.goo.gl/Y2fuF9z7wygKu1iX9
  7. I am only going on experience with Indy burb schools....but I am open if you can show many soccer rosters filled with boys and girls that didn't play travel soccer.
  8. In a way, it is. To play competitively at most Indy burbs schools, boys and girls have been most likely playing in both local rec and travel leagues for extended periods as a youth. Not cheap and requires some extensive travel. While unfortunate, that isn't an option for everyone. Unlike Brazil, there are not soccer fields on both grass and concrete all over inner cities and in rural areas.
  9. Nice article with comments from UCLA coach Chip Kelly about Carson Steele https://www.latimes.com/sports/ucla/story/2023-04-06/ucla-football-carson-steele-zach-charbonnet
  10. would like to think so....but I am not so sure. Perhaps this is why Carmel is trying to move away from CG........
  11. I guess....but what does it have to do with sport in her case?? Does she need sports to earn her revenue?
  12. The promotion/relegation thing is interesting. It works in english soccer for example because of a desire by players to be in the top league, but let's face it...its driven by $$. The higher the league for a team, the more $$ alotted to them. That in turn gives them better players, facilities, etc. That doesn't play out with Indiana high school sports....more funds won't be alotted for an upper league (no motivation there) and I contend many teams would be more than content to "play down" if that increases their odds for trophies. They certainly won't get less funding for "staying down". Don't really see promotion/relegation apples to apples for professional vs. amatuer (in this case high school) sports.
  13. both IN Fan and your thoughts are very interesting and have merit. Whiteland also has to be getting close to 6A and they are growing rapidly.
  14. This is an example of a GREAT coach....he is teaching his team way more than the game of hoops. This is something they will carry with them always.....
  15. thanks....sounds like we had different experiences as it was more than comradery for my children and myself. I guess my expectation is that good coaches should teach you more than the game, as most people will stop playing the game when high school ends, so what does a person really take with them to apply to life? I don't think it matters if the entity is a private or public, as I think we'd all agree that much of education occurs outside of the classroom. Maybe call it a tangible benefit, such as icing on a cake.
  16. I don't remember Bob indicating it was a core mission..... I am not trying to be negative or argumentative in any way...just seeking to better understand what is behind your statement. Question, did you or your children participate in high school athletics? If so, did you not see that athletics teaches an individual and group of people way more than just the game itself?
  17. I believe I read they finished the season last year ranked #37 MaxPreps
  18. Looks like CG added Oakland HS out of Tennessee in place of Carmel for week 2.
  19. There are only so many 6A schools in the state. I am sure the AD has reached out to them all along with many 5A schools. From what I have learned, not been an issue scheduling contests for CG, other than football.
