I would also like to add that GS’s leading rusher is so much more than a runner. He made varsity as a freshman and played WR. Think he got banged up at some point that year but still showed plenty of flashes as a freshman. switched to RB last year but still was used a lot in the passing game. he might not play RB this year for all we know and could go back to WR. He’s just flat out a weapon you get the ball to

Tbh….QB is probably the least of the concerns? Hart is a phenomenal QB mentor and during his tenure so far over 10 years….every QB who was the starting QB, made All State 3A at least once. 4 different QBs…all 4 were all state caliber QBs and great in their own ways. GS will surely rush more this year than last year…but idk if it looks that much different for the opposing teams. It’s still going to line up as 4 receivers shotgun RPO I bet.….only change is that the guy we presume is going to be the starter can take it 70 yards for the touchdown with his legs

Maybe. Hopefully. I’m just interested to see how GS’s schedule plays out…and then how that translates to playoffs. it’s fair to assume 2022 Gibson Southern will not be nearly as good as last year….schedule is still tough with keeping New Albany and South Warren. Southridge too as technically an out of conference game. The only change is Terra Haute South week 1 instead of Columbus North. so getting through that will be interesting….and then you look at the sectional and it’s…well…more favorable than in previous years and without a doubt nobody is playing as tough of a schedule outside of maybe Vincennes in the SIAC gauntlet all year…..so we will see how that plays out. I think 8-1 is possible and i think 6-3 or even 5-4 is possible. There is just so much that is going to change.

Idk much about Lawrenceburg but I know they graduated some really crucial pieces Yoon was like a 4 year QB who did it all and then there was the all American LT/DE going to Notre dame im sure plenty of others too but those 2 alone were a major reason they have been doing so well the last few seasons

New Sectional Assignments
DumfriesYMCA replied to Coach Harvey's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I wouldn’t go that far and I definitely don’t want to act like GS is unbeatable or that these other schools are just the worst. but it’s definitely not the same as being in 32 with Memorial, Heritage Hills, and Southridge -
New Sectional Assignments
DumfriesYMCA replied to Coach Harvey's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I feel like the Ihsaa just threw Gibson Southern a bone. it’s dangerous to get out over your skis but this is the easiest sectional lineup on paper for them in probably 10+ years…..maybe ever? no heritage hills, no Southridge, bosse is in 4A from enrollment, Memorial is in 4A from success. opponents include Princeton who hasn’t beat GS in like 20 years and it was only because of a forfeit. Washington and pike central have really struggled in football for quite some time too and are just looking to build some momentum. to add. Chatard is in the north. -
For those that don’t know of this already, Ohio State freshman and any new transfer all wear a black stripe on their helmets and can only get the stripe removed by showing out. I’m a week late to sharing this but early April is a good sign. Losing it this early means that he has quickly impressed the coaches in practices. It’s not an exact science but it’s kind of a cheat to know who is and who isn’t see early playing time. One example would be Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Julian Fleming from a few years back. Both were 5 ⭐️ WRs. Fleming was #1 in the country and JSN was #5. JSN shed his black stripe early and Fleming did not…Fleming was actually one of the last to do so and it was into late September before he finally lost it. Now a few years later JSN is likely a 1st round pick in 2023 and Fleming probably won’t even declare for the draft. idk thought it was worth sharing. Curry trending to seeing time as a freshman though

OFFICIAL: New classes announced
DumfriesYMCA replied to crimsonace1's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
You would think that….but for the last few years princeton and Vincennes have been in a sectional that made it possible to have a semi state game with Gibson Southern and other Evansville area schools -
I have my doubts he even makes it to West Lafayette. He’s in the heart of SEC country and taking visits still to other programs like LSU. i wouldn’t worry either way because I think Allen is a perfect fit for Browns offense and think that will be hard to disrupt once things start clicking. But the whole recruitment of the Louisiana stud is just weird. But that’s probably a discussion for the college forum

3A south gets a major shake up bosse up to 4A with memorial still up Sullivan and brownstown central down to 2A. -
He was the only QB to not commit a turnover too lol considering the top receivers were missing from the game he did pretty good. will be interesting to see how it plays out. Has a shot to be the #2 this year but also could take a redshirt

Blue Bloods - Indiana High School Football
DumfriesYMCA replied to BTF's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I would say Gibson Southern should be mentioned disregarding the criteria…..but ya know….bleeding blue is for Heritage Hills and Memorial lol….We can just bleed maroon and gold 😉 -
I didn’t think it would extend beyond the HS level but that definitely explains it.
-
Maybe I’m missing something but is the HOF new? Or did it really take 20 years to realize Jay Cutler should be in the IFCA HOF lol
-
I mean….if the shoe fits 😂 Both Sellers certainly ran the offense to near perfection and for like a string of 5 years.
-
At least for him he has some serious legs and with that he could forge his own path. no doubt it’s hard to compare to Brady knowing he can throw it 60+ yards at about 60mph with accuracy but Brady was a tactical scrambler at best….and that’s something the next starter can really take and literally run with. I really don’t think we are going to see a GS Qb throw for over 300 times in a season and that definitely helps the next guy up when they have the legs to be a true dual threat QB

That works until both brothers are all grown up and the older brother is now the little brother. (Know this one from personal experience haha) -
The SIAC Thread

Definitely not Lol Lawrenceburg was basically blown out but had a great comeback and had some momentum. The 3rd Qtr alone there were probably 3 or 4 GS drives that stalled out inside the 30 and resulted in 0 points. I would also like to point out that last year I specifically pointed out that this BS would happen. Everyone expected Gs to make a run and I said if they did accomplish it all the memorial fans and everyone would immediately pivot to saying crap like “well if chatard or memorial would have been there….” And look where we are now. GS built a schedule that had transitive foes of Chatard/Cathedral/Center Grove and here you are trying to say East Central via transitive was the real determination for your conclusion. LOL -
i know there is still the summer and plenty of competition for the starting spot but I feel like we all know who is going to be under center for Gibson Southern this year lol. even if there was some freshman transfer from out of state I think we all got to see the future starter take plenty of Varsity reps during running clocks last year. maybe I’m wrong though and I’m sure Coach Hart is going to have plenty of competition across all the available starting spots to have the best kid win…..but QB seems like it’s pretty much locked up imo

21-22 DOE Enrollments

Wait memorial had 791 in 2010? And they are now barely 3A despite almost being SF’d to 5A? -

@Titan32 you may have been on to something 😂 (full tongue in cheek comment before this turns into an argument among the board) -
I feel like this is one of those years that determine who will be the top dog for the next 2/3 seasons in the PAC. From my perspective it’s wide open

21-22 DOE Enrollments
DumfriesYMCA replied to HoopsCoach's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Brebeuf might be going to 4A. looking at it…they might have a serious boom on their hands. 2016-2021 they show enrollments of like 100-150 per class. But for the next 4 classes they are showing 200+ per and are sitting at 841 right now only about 40 behind Bosse as for Gibson Southern….maybe they are on 4A in the next cycle based on enrollment alone? Current upper classes are a little on the lighter side with 147 and 171….that Junior class of 147 is really small considering my graduating class from Gibson Southern in 2013 was 156. However the freshman and sophomore classes currently are showing 191 and 195. The next cycle GS could be at 800 but idk if it will be enough to bump to 4A. Would need to see decline of size from a number of 4A schools but I don’t know if that’s really going to happen looking at it edit: I realized the left hand columns were a ranking not enrollment. Still looks like Brebeuf is in a boom but the 100-150 students is baseless -
They should have built 69 basically right next to 41 imo. My number 1 complaint when I return to the area to visit is the traffic on 41 and the UNGODLY AMOUNT OF STOP LIGHTS. And then the fact that there is so many semis with really no better option. I just can’t get over it. You have a very busy highway with speeds of 55+ and then about 20 stop lights. Either you blow through the red or you slam on your brakes….and then all of the semi traffic thrown into the mix…That highway is just so dangerous and it’s why we see so many tragic car accidents there just seems to me that 69 solves a problem for people traveling through the area but has otherwise just consolidated the regional traffic to 41, especially when it comes to transport from Vincennes to Evansville. The industry of Evansville isn’t going to travel south to the river or east just to go north, especially if they have to go to terra haute/Vincennes/Princeton. And none of those places are going east by at least 10 miles to go south only to be on the wrong side of Evansville.

I think it’s only a matter of time before Wood Memorial gets redistributed to the other area high schools. I’ve done the research on this before and between Gibson Southern, Princeton, Pike Central, and Tecumseh….the average distance to wood is about 15 miles or so from HS to HS. throw in that it’s a very rural area and economic factors….it’s only a matter of time. Especially with declining birth rates.
