I agree to all of this...but it would be crazy interesting to see the numbers on some of these...for football the #2 at Texas A&M was Johnny footballs number. I recall reading that at some point you could type his name into their online merch store and that jersey would pull up. No name on it but clear association of name and sales. you speak to a good point though that only a few get retired and by that notion how can you determine if it’s their number or not...for Syracuse Lacrosse the number 22 is a big one with lots of top players wearing that...similar to The #1 jersey you mentioned

The issue is that universities and everyone else gets to make money off them. Jersey sales of just the number no names of big time players sell like crazy. Billions of dollars are made off of their likeness...tv ads and all included... just allow all athletes to make money on their own being.

Sectional 32 Gibson Southern over Heritage Hills. heritage hills is the heavy favorite after a dominant season and winning 49-14 over GS this season. Game is at GS this time and anticipated to be much closer. Most people have said they expect HH to win. But they won’t be shocked if GS wins. Should be a very intense battle tonight. Both teams are coming in knowing they have to play their best game. For HH that is just continuing what they have done all season. For GS it’s stopping the mistakes and not beating themselves

Right? Practice for the conditions you’ll play in....or at least try. Sometimes it’s impossible to prepare for something like an iced over field

Yeah I think it would be a fools move to think chatard or WL is the favorite. for the past 3 years it’s been 1A 1B between the two and usually 1 other team....usually them and the best out of 32 that year. i personally feel like it’s been pretty accurate too. Shoot for the better half of this decade, the top of 3A is really close and competitive. Some games a team made too many mistakes and the score got out of hand....like Chatard vs memorial when memorial scored a ton. but all in all. These teams are all really close. no true favorites. It’s more like tiers. you got your top tier schools of 3/4 teams then you got the guys under that. Probably 10 or so teams. then 30ish teams who have been good but frankly it just won’t be enough. and finally about 20 teams who are just looking forward to next year and getting the offseason going already
