  1. If the block was initiated with the shoulder, it is likely going to be called a blindside every time. If they use the hands/arms extended, it gives them a bit of leeway.
  2. I worked a scrimmage at Mitchell several years back. We had a fumble and I tossed my beanbag and lost it for a quarter and a half.
  3. No, he's that guy...
  4. There is no place where it says you can run the clock either. Only the shortening of periods... That's the right interpretation..
  5. This is the email that I received from my Chair that I am assuming is at question: ubject: Week 4 All, The Fall Area Principal meetings have begun. Thus far, the Mercy Rule has been an unqualified success. Please remember to report those games where the Mercy Rule is enacted. The weather over the next two weekends looks to be a challenge. Please review both your weather delay procedures as well as your heat management guidelines. Take care of yourselves as well as the athletes. This is now the fourth week of the season and it is very disappointing that a Point of Emphasis is being ignored by our crews. The penalty for uniform infractions has been removed. The player needs to be sent off to become compliant. The attached photos are taken from video of the first three weeks of the season. Three different crews, same issues. Unacceptable. Let’s get better. There were also pictures attached to show the problem with knee pads... Hopefully it was no crew on here!
  6. I am already scheduling games in the '24 and '25 season! I actually have a BD game in 21
  7. I think there was a unsportsmanlike foul on 4th down of the 1st OT, they carried the penalty over to their opportunity on offense. They marched them off 15 and they started 1st and 10 on the 25 when it should have been 1st and Goal from the 25. The chains do not come out for OT. That is how I heard it...
  8. Now you're going to tick off A coach for not giving him a 1st and 10.... But a series starts 1st and Goal in OT.... A crew messed that up in the tournament last year....
  9. What gives A the ability for a new set of downs? Would we view it the same way as a punt where R touches the ball beyond the neutral zone and K gets to keep possession with a new set of downs? If so, I agree with your assumption of starting on the 2.5 instead of the 5.
  10. In A, TD? Since it’s scrimmage kick formation, and we can use rule 6-2-2, the ball rebounding back behind the neutral zone allows for recovery and advancement. In B, 1st and Goal for B at the 10. if none of those are accurate, start the van...
  11. Such an odd username then?
  12. Edge is the coach at SS, likely....
  13. Their enrollments look relatively stable... A little light in grades 1-2 right now, but it looks like if it maintains, around the same amount they have now. They had a large senior class last year at 149... Down to 120's where it seems to be the norm now for them.
  14. Wait, I thought Alabama was getting hit by a hurricane? Did they cancel their Friday night games?
  15. When you have a hold that is 15 yards away from the play and the coaching staff is losing their minds, that is something that drives me crazy. I mean, yes, there is a hold... But did it impact the play? That is an incredibly slippery slope to play with though.
  16. I feel like most people can agree with @Muda69 on this one....
  17. Don't encourage him....
  18. I always look at it from this point of view: Did the defender displace the receiver and cause him to alter his body placement or route. Keep in mind too, face guarding is no longer considered pass interference. So a defender can throw their arms up in an attempt to block the view of the receiver.
  19. Ignore that yardage enforcement...
  20. I don't think it matters anymore. I could be wrong, but the yard penalties would cancel... BUT............ If they don't..... 1st and Goal from the 12.5 yard line. 15 yard penalty to back them up to the 25, half the distance to the 12.5
  21. I have carpal tunnel from typing out Unsportsmanlike Conduct reports this weekend. Don't want to disclose the game, but each was warranted.
  22. Like I said, it makes it easy to call a False Start on A simply because they are on offense, regardless if they had 10 or 12. You have a simple enforcement and nothing crazy can happen. But I get the rule of law states it is an illegal substitution since he has reported inside the numbers. Officials have the benefit of a lot of coaches not knowing that specific aspect. Or perhaps I am just being mean thinking coaches don't understand the finer points of some rules.
  23. Depends on which part of him hit the ground when the ball came out... If it was his hand, then the ball, that's a fumble. Anything else, it should probably be a dead ball....
