  1. and then in the cluster, Penn and Elkhart Central, I believe were in the same and played first game of the season. Winner of that game basically made the playoffs while the loser had no chance. In the first year of the cluster, we ended up in a 3 way tie between us (WC), Lawrence North and Perry Meridian. The tie breakers were all OT segments; put the ball on the 10 and you have 4 downs to score. A coin flip determined the first two teams to face off, so we faced LN. It was cold and raining all week; this was a Wednesday night with the sectional against Washington to be played Friday. We matched scores in round 1 with LN. They scored first in round 2, and we got to 4th down. We had a TE wide open in the middle just inside the goal line. George slipped as he threw and it one hopped. We were done. Next PM comes out, fumbles first play and LN recovers. LN kicks a FG on their first play and wins. They lost to a REALLY good Washington team that Friday night. Washington made it to the State final, and lost to Penn.
  2. Silver Creek High School has a Geography/History position open as well as varsity & middle school coaching positions available. Please contact HC Dave Papenhaus for more information. Dpapenhaus@scsc.school
  3. Yes, I have participated in the past on a couple of very specific points or questions raised. But the links posted had nothing to do with any conversation I chose to be a part of. The tag was simply to draw out an opposing view. Had it been a quote, ok...but it was not. There are benefits to the tag, and I am not saying anyone cannot use the function. I have from time to time if I have a question for someone I think will have an answer. I have razzed yucca from time to time as well. I still think it's a dick move to be used in a manner of challenging what is thought to be an opposing view. My purpose is to have him not tag me simply because I don't want to engage in the conversation he tried to start. Otherwise, it may have gone on and on, and become even more annoying. And there had already been a history of it....before this.
  4. As the topic in general goes, no one here is going to convince anyone of anything to change their points of view. So it was pointless to keep responding. I did not consider it highjacking a thread honestly. But to tag someone to try and draw them into a conversation when you believe they have an opposing view? For all that even Muda and I disagree about, I cannot think of a time he tagged me with news or thoughts out of nowhere. Just like his replies to me on my recent dead pool post a couple weeks ago, it is a dick move. I just refuse to engage with someone in any conversation who chooses to act like that.
  5. Don’t tag me…not even interested in discussing it, especially with you. It has nothing to do with the previous conversation.
  6. My perspective More and more kids are having to choose between work and participating in extra curricular activities. We have seen kids in our program that are going to work instead of practice, or are going home to watch younger siblings instead of practice. You COULD tell a kid if you miss again, you are off the team. You get a response back “ok”. Sure, old school thinking would say cut them. But when there is no real depth, and you could end up with a team of 15-20 kids, that really is not an option. So you get creative in how to deal with this type of thing. You do what you can. Maybe this alleviates some of this and can keep more kids participating? Talking to other coaches in the area, it is the same everywhere. That’s why I really do just roll me eyes when I see conversations about what makes a great, when so many programs are focused on coaching the kids we have, trying to get the most out of them from day to day is the goal. So, outside the box thinking like this might be a way to address a growing problem.
  7. Would not mind seeing him land in Bloomington
  8. I misread the original post as AGES 5-11, and not grades…lol, my mistake. In that case, 8th graders are still ok, as for a lot of schools, the junior high season starts after the high school season, but the 9-11 grades should not be there outside the contact window. They can still lift and condition though, like all other sports can. My guess though is there is some flexibility with wrestling as was mentioned about swimming.
  9. I would first suggest looking into what you are allowed to do. There is a limited contact window in the Spring where you can do football stuff. But outside that window, you are limited to strength, conditioning, and agility work, and nothing football specific.
  10. I will check on this, but I am pretty sure if the kids are in the school system, there is no issue with this happening. The limited contact period only applies to a high school coach and his athletes on the high school team.
  11. She was GREAT as George's mother on Seinfeld as well as Mrs. Potato Head in the Toy Story movies. RIP https://www.wane.com/entertainment-news/estelle-harris-seinfeld-and-toy-story-actor-dies-at-93/?fbclid=IwAR1XLIMk9q5d6DOrhUoFGE52Y2ZfO-i7skQi4ADkrM8drJTFd2IOzNCsiJ4
  12. I had the opposite view. Looking at the bowl game; Coan got all the reps. I think Kelly is the reason that Buchner and Pyke saw the field at all during the season. With Kelly gone, the offense was completely in the hands of Rees.

    Butler

This is quite a surprise. I figured he was at IU as long as Woodson was there.
  14. I also wonder had he done this one year ago if he gets the same mixed reaction? Did getting into the playoff give him some leverage?
  15. I initially thought it was a publicity stunt. Watching what happened afterward, I have come to think it was not staged. Will initially laughed at the joke, but then got the look of death from Jada, and knew he had to act. Will is a great actor, one of my favorites. I am not going to judge him as hard as others have because of one incident. I am willing to bet Chris Rock has found himself in this spot a few times. I do think there are bette ways to handle it rather than smacking someone.
  16. While I am not a fan of Kaepernick at all, what cannot be underestimated is the bond between a coach and player. Harbaugh has seen a side of Kap that NONE of us have seen. I do not give a rat’s ass what his politics are; he is entitled to his opinion. Some bonds go deeper than something like that.
  17. There are other issues not mentioned. If a school is getting a certain percentage of free and reduced meals, they cannot sell what is classified as “junk food”. The other possible issue is that the school may have a contract with a vendor, so only drinks and snacks from that vendor can be sold on school grounds. My guess is it’s the former that is the issue.
  18. Great points……I do think if you put them opposite each other, it could help. What the Colts have to look at as far as putting defenses in a bind is the TE. The dominant teams feature really good TE’s. I thing Tyreek Hill benefitted from how good Kelce was. Hill will not be anywhere near as effective in Miami because he won’t have that. He sill see a lot of coverage combos that will limit him, even with his speed. I do think the deep threat may be overrated some. Green Bay has not really had one. Adams was really good, but he did not have that breakaway speed. He did have multiple receivers who were great possession guys, and a TE before he was injured, that kept defenses honest. In fact, I have said for a couple years, the Packers deep game has not been good. As the West Coast Gurus Walsh and Holmgren would say, just keep the chains moving.
  19. I think to an extent, the 40 time is misleading. David Bell is going to be a star in the league. Yep, I am biased being a WC Alum as well. He has been underestimated a lot in his career. With that he lead his high school team to State titles in Football and Basketball, taking it right to Langford for a game winning shot to get to the championship in bball. He was also B1G freshman player of the year as well, right? He is a competitor, and has what I call game speed. His ability to catch is great as well. If he is there for the Colts, I say take him. He may even be around in the 2nd round. This is a really good group of receivers in this draft.
  20. That is how you reach the top SEC teams, building that kind of depth at key positions. I also do not see it all as ND giving up on anyone. There is a two year gap between the two, and Moore has to see that with his remaining choices, his chances to start right away are low……unless he impresses his coaches that much.
  21. This will hurt the Purdue program. This young man is a special player. Best of luck on the next level
